Hemorrhoids are a total pain in the *kitten*

Thanks. We live in Hamilton Ontario. It's a long time steel city that has been overlooked by a lot of people as too industrial.

Millipedes give me the shivers.

I have a gym in my basement. Once a raccoon got in a took a crap in my rack. That's high on my list of things I don't like in my gym.

Thanks. I originally checked the post because some bugs do, in fact, make me shudder and I wanted to see how that fit in with fitness and exercise. For the original poster, your picture is lovely. Mine is from last winter. We live under the Niagara escarpment. In our city there are 5 sets of stairs from the top to the…

Based on the way media treats people, I'm starting to wonder if it isn't a moral shortcoming that we should be trying harder to forestall. Have you ever looked at on-line articles about "OMG look at how badly x is aging".

That's all I'm seeing... as a woman in her 50's whose chest is heading into her drawers

I'm not sure what's so bad about what we're looking at.

I'm totally on board with heated seats. January in Ontario means heated seats make my butt very happy.

Way to overcome the shorts fear. I also don't see any fear of depth. Those were way deep.

Good to know. I guess I'll ditch my plan to grow my leg hair then. They're much easier to get on in the winter when it's cold and dry. Summer though? Heurgh :/

Nice job. That looked really easy. I'd say your one rep max is well north of 300.

They have to go all the way on for me or forget it. I train at home and my basement is damp so I have to use smooth knee socks at the moment to get them on at all since they are half damp before I even start. I would have thought that leg hair would facilitate sliding them on.

Mine are extra small and I have very skinny calves. The smaller they are the less flexible they are. In theory they fit but it's like folding a piece of string in half. You can only do it so many times.

If I didn't already have a Wahlander belt, I'd go for the SPD one too for the cool factor. Otherwise, Inzer makes a solid belt and I also use one of their lever belts. My stuff is all mix and match: Wahlander belt SBD & Titan knee sleeves (I also own old Rehbands) Titan wrist wraps Titan singlet Knee Wraps I have/use are:…

Nice job. I'll have to look at the women's over 50 lists to see how I rank. I haven't looked at their rankings in a few years.

I'm in agreement with everyone who is questioning the brilliance of the person passing on the comment. Possibly he did say something to that effect but what possible good could it do you to have someone repeat it. Years ago I had someone at work pass on a comment made by another co-worker. The one I immediately took to…

That was easy. The Canadian SBD singlets look really sharp. They did a nice job.

If the trainer was talking specifically about flies, she may have a point. I do flies periodically but don't go heavy on them. I treat them more as a mobility exercise. I rarely go over 10lbs. It's not one that I push heavy weight on. Of course she may have been speaking from a hypertrophy standpoint as well but I would…

You made the right choice but a tough one. Wait till you're an M2 and you only need a pulse to qualify. Happily my totals are good enough for an open qualification.
-
Nice job. I'm just waiting for Mike to post the results.

I'd caution against using a slipper if you pull sumo. When pulling sumo, you're generally pushing out with your feet. Your feet will slide in the slipper as they are pretty insubstantial. They're great for conventional though. I pull sumo and use merrill trail gloves. They're great because they can be laced very tight to…

Enjoy yourself. The first is really awesome. Everyone is very supportive and wants to see new lifters succeed. I've got close to 30 meets in and remember the first like yesterday.
-
Your depth is fine. If you go too deep, you're giving up weight. FWIW, I've been a referee for about 5 years now.
-
I didn't realize there was a meet coming up. For sure then, resist the temptation. On a platform is the best place for a PR. Where's the meet?
-
It's the shoes. They're like magic  That looked easy and your depth was more than decent on most of them. Have you thought about testing your 1rm?

The sheiko cycles work for a lot of people too. The key is finding what is most effective for you.

I mostly train at home with free weights. From time to time my husband and I will go to a commercial gym as an outing. When we're there, I like to use all the machines because it's kind of like going on all the rides at an amusement park because we don't have them at home. Many of them are a mystery to me and we do the…

Monday- heavy squat, light(er) bench, tricep and glute/ham accessories Wednesday - light squat, heavy bench, abs/upper back accessories Friday - deadlift (either heavy, moderate or light deficit), BB rows, SSB squat, abs/upper back accessories That's it. No more than three days a week. When I go to four, my recovery is for…

Hi there. I've been competing for about 8 years and have done close to 30 meets but I've lost count of the actual total. I've done everything from local open meets, up to and including world championships. I lift with the cpu (Canadian IPF affiliate). For years I only competed equipped as that's all there was. My best…
