  • That's right  That's where I pull up in the pack.
  • Bench is my weakest lift. I have monkey arms that favour deadlifting. My best in contest is 121lbs at 121lbs bw. My best touch and go in the gym is 130lbs at 122lbs bw. Typically in a meet I'm one of the first to bench because the weight is one of the lowest and one of the last to deadlift because it's one of the highest.…
  • I never do good mornings with straight legs. I've always got a bend in them. I don't think I've ever seen them done like that and would think it could lead to injury. Even stiff leg deads are done with a slight bend.
  • That's fair enough but that's assuming the advice is accurate and helpful. I think this is less about weird stalkers and more about the Dunning- Kruger effect. "unskilled individuals tend to suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than is accurate, while highly skilled individuals tend…
  • Meh. I'm not sure that's true. There's a world of difference between sharing ideas and approaching someone you don't know and offering unsolicited advice. By doing that, you are approaching a (more or less) stranger and telling them they are wrong and you are right. That's it in it's most basic form. I'm not sure why…
  • That looked seriously easy. Nice job.
  • Nice job. How barfy did you feel?
  • You don't have to do anything you think is either stupid or dangerous. There are plenty of things I don't do just because I don't like them. I don't like lunges. I don't do them. I did the 25 rep challenge at 2 times body weight and was really none the worse for wear. However, I have enough experience to know what is…
  • I''ll be 50 next month and let me tell you recovery gets even worse. I have to be pretty strategic with how I plan things where 6 years ago I didn't give it nearly as much thought.
  • I'm not sure. My ankles are just inside the rings. I've played with it a lot over the years and I still pull best with it a bit narrower as it gives me a bit more drive off the floor. Plus I need my feet facing more forward that outwards and it allows me to recruit more quad. Maybe it's not truly sumo but wide…
  • I did it when you originally did it. Here's mine. I'd do it again but I have a meet in a month and doing this again would trash me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0Q4k8vV8mA&list=UUmZkoGSFC_p7muA2ym0Myrw
  • Not quite 50. I turn next month. 5'6", 125lbs. I went through menopause several years ago with no issues or stress. I believe lifting helped immensely with it. Not only that but I think my skin is faring quite well for it. I've been lifting for 8 years and competing for over 6. I have nothing sexy/flexy but the two…
  • I've been lifting for years and still get both wrist and hand pain. I think some of the hand pain is referred pain from my shoulders since I experience it most frequently after heavy squatting. Like another poster, I wrap my wrists and it helps a lot with wrist flexion but not entirely.
  • If you want to dial in form, don't do sets of 10 or 20. I'd stick with multiple sets of three. I train speed on Mondays with a super light weight for triples and the focus on power out of the hole can be exhausting in itself. Form breaks down on high rep sets. There is a lot of good advice here. My best advice is using a…
  • I think I could do it if I smoked crack. For comparison, on Monday I did a set of 20 squats with 135 about 8 lbs over my body weight and it took about 2 minutes. To do 2015 would be 101 sets of 20 which, if I could do all 101 sets with the same speed would be over 3 1/2 hours under a bar.
  • Every one of the joints in my body are crying just reading about this.
  • I'm 50 and it made mine shoot right out. The good news is that simplifies so much in and of itself.
  • I just saw them. There was a lot of solid lifting all round.
  • Nice. I'm looking forward to seeing all the results posted. Any increase at all in contest is a big deal particularly after you've been competing for a while.
  • I thought you were testing tomorrow. It sounds like your day went very much like my husbands. He left the gym pretty discouraged. Mine was okay. bw 126 Squat 242.5 plus 10(ish) pounds on my last meet best Bench 120 (last meet best) Deadlift 300. 315 would not move. (Last meet 309) The reality is it only counts on the…
  • I'll be happy to hit 240 tonight. Last week 225 felt way harder than it should have and it's my typical opener.
  • I'm not saying it couldn't happen but for comparison, one of the best unequipped women in Canada (ranked second) around that body weight squatted 235 for 15 once and maxed at 297 for a single at a meet. It could be real but it would be an outlier for sure.
  • That's exciting. I'm testing tomorrow night. I'm 8 weeks out from a meet and have been trying a new program. Squat feels poopy but bench and deadlift are feeling pretty solid.
  • Zero. When I train at home I often lift braless. Otherwise it's just a regular old bra.
  • I've been competing since 2008. I"m mostly an equipped lifter but in the past year have gotten back into unequipped as well. The numbers I have now seemed impossible when I started. I could pull 200 almost immediately but it took years to get to 300. Now every increase is such a small amount and hard fought.
  • My husband hates him now. Frank is a bencher and it cheeses him off to see Joe pull more than him at 84.
  • For me that would be a 233 squat. I've hit it a number times in the gym in a belt only but only 231 in contest. I hit 2.5 bw deadlift (309) at my last meet. 2.25 is 277. I pulled 275 for a triple last week.
  • I have: Inzer dual prong 10mm Inzer lever 10mm Bob's belts single prong 13mm I've used all three for years and prefer the single prong. The dual prong was my first belt and a p.i.t.a. The lever is nice but as another poster noted, if you like it different for different lifts, you have to change it. I like tight on squat…
  • Nice. We seem to be about the same place. I'll be 50 in November and age is starting to factor in particularly with recovery.
  • Thanks. I was pretty happy with it but not as happy as finally hitting a body weight bench in a meet. Bench is my nemesis :(
