Noice. Plus you have some nice calves there too.

I tried them out (jefferson squats) today after deadlifting. I think I may put them in the rotation. They'd be a nice assistance.
-
I may give them a go soon. Maybe tonight after my heavy stuff. I just get the feeling that the guy coaching the woman doing them in the video above may have needed a moment alone.

I like zerchers because I have long humerus bones and can move a lot of weight like that so I feel like a rock star. With respect to Jefferson deadlifts, I bet this gets a lot of looks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPrqi-5VMgU

The longer I've been lifting, the less likely I am to laugh at anything. When you're starting out with something, you don't know what you don't know. After 10 years I'm well versed in the fact that there's lots I don't know; particularly what anyone else's goals may be. I love zerchers and have been sourcing a zercher…

I've done the same thing. By which I mean kind of make fun of something that appears kind of stupid and then found out it's legit. I remember the first time I saw someone doing cable pull throughs. I was pretty certain they were trying to saw their bollocks off. They looked ridiculous. Now I do them from time to time with…

I don't see anything odd about this at all. Like a number of other people have said, he's adjusting to have it just below the knee. I have different height boxes I use at home to accomplish the same thing.

All training for me is immediately after dinner. I lift though so it's not an issue. I cannot train properly if I'm hungry. I've been in situations before when I've brought food with me. I don't think I'd be into heavy cardio after pasta.

We do periodic band work. That one makes me think I'd lose my attention for a split second and wear a dumb bell in my teeth

Nothing beats a long term training partner. You have someone to spot you and take a look at technique when things are breaking down. It's awesome when starting conversation is no more complicated than "what's your number today?". It would be much harder to do if you weren't running the same program with the same goals…

I always train with my husband. However, it's not really like working out with a friend. We both compete and I structure all of our templates and cycles. We've been doing it for over 7 years so it's a normal thing for us. It's really just what you're used to.
-
Those are the best. They aren't little accomplishments either. Congratulations.

I have a lot. The most visible was at a local strongman competition at a fair. I pulled 425 off boxes below the knee for a single. One other woman pulled more than me. It was funny though because my real estate agent at the time who is also a musician was playing at the event and he was all dewy eyed and impressed. The…

Have you ever tried reverse band squats? I think that anything that helps you become accustomed to overloading will increase your confidence. Because I competed for years in gear, I got accustomed to holding much heavier weights than I could squat/bench/deadlift unequipped but it made me comfortable just holding the weight…

Pretty sure you're right  There's DOMS and there's injury.

I have to disagree on this. Backs are significantly involved in deadlifts; erectors, traps, lats. By remaining in a neutral position under heavy load you are involving your back in a major way. Your back may not accelerate the bar off the floor but holding the load uses the back. There is no way around it. For reference…
-
For those saying your back shouldn't hurt, we may need more information. Your spine shouldn't hurt but my spinal erectors are smoked the day after deadlifting heavy or after a meet. Your back is heavily involved in deadlifting. If it isn't I'm not certain how people are doing it.

I love this one and could be the person doing it. A lot of videos like this just look like the person is having a blast and doesn't gaf.

Becoming a ref is a great way to become an even better lifter. I became one about 5 years ago and at the time was surprised at the number of rules I wasn't aware of.
-
This was less of an issue when most lifting was equipped. To left equipped, you really need a team to train with just to get gear on and take it off. Now, however, with the growth of unequipped, more and more individuals and able to train alone. I have seen some new lifters come in and smash records but that's not the…

It's helpful for new lifters to really understand what is expected in a competition with regards to rules. It's always disheartening to have new lifters come to their first meet and not get a total because they don't realize what depth is expected, they jump commands or make a host of minor errors that are easily avoidable…

Are you planning to train with an experienced competitor prior to the meet?
-
This was last night's top set. I've been mostly squatting high bar but it seems to have improved my low bar as I switched at the top sets. This is 222.5 for 2 and was preceded by 205 for 2. The dialogue is my husband talking about my dog galloping around like an idiot upstairs.…

Spiders don't bother me all that much. However, we train at home in our basement and periodically we'll get a bat flapping around. Nothing makes squats as fun as a bat near your head. We've named him flappy.
-
I was wondering because the centre ref didn't do the 'down' hand signal during deadlift. Maybe she was too tired by deadlift. It can be a long day in the chair  Hopefully Steph had as much fun during her first meet as I did mine and will continue on.
-
Nice job. Your first meet is one you'll never forget. What fed are you lifting in?

Lamar Gant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSVqlh7ePb8 Check out his deadlift. Here is squat as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emBJoiFPa3c

I agree with all of this bar the mirror. Looking in a mirror to perfect form actually detracts from it as you are looking rather than feeling what you should be doing. For form, video your lifts. We built a platform in our basement that is 2 layers of 3/8" plywood cross laid covered with heavy duty rubber horse stall mats.…

Exactly. It's very relevant. If you compete, you get over it quickly. Your age and body weight is up on a screen for the world to see. The only thing missing is your natural hair colour.

Bench without a doubt. The nice part of this is that I have low expectations of it in a meet. It's like the portion where I get to lie down and rest. Best is deadlift which, fun as it is, can be stressful because it comprises almost half my total.
