In through the nose out through the mouth for exertion exercise or physical activity. For normal breathing and/or to regulate heart rate, you should be inhaling and exhaling through the nose (i.e. why you will typically see this in Yoga). There are several (too long to list and a little complicated) reasons why is very…

This is a common belief, especially among black women because of the promise of healthy, long, think hair. A goal we all aspire to achieve. However, the hair results aren’t proven scientifically and can be easily accomplished by proper maintenance and care. The changes in hair and nail growth are typically found in those…

My blood pressure forces me to have lower than normal sodium intake. What works best for me is to avoid anything that comes in a can or frozen. Those will always be high. Also, I try to limit eating out. If you do eat out, try foods that seem fresh and put any sauce on the side. Typically saucey things are culprits. You…

You all are kicking my butt! Was off to a slow start, but did better today. Still alive!

This is awesome. I know it is cheesy but I teared up a little (no crying tho, crying is for babies! ). I love this NSV....the best one I have seen. Congrats on this accomplishment.

We have like a “concourse” level below the lobby. Mostly maintenance people and building manager there, I sometimes take the stairs there to use the bathroom on that floor. I work on the 7th floor. Now I am in my own office not a cube, so I occasionally do squats when I think no one will walk by At the printer I do calf…

I am pro. So worth it when you can get them for cheap. It really teaches you portion control. I weigh just about everything. I weigh veggies, rice, fruit etc Also, use it to weigh stuff so I can ensure my serving size is correct. Can’t tell you how many people log they had ½ cup of rice when it was really like 2 cups.

I work out, I just do something much lighter. Usually, a light yoga video or a mod walk. Nothing that burns too much. But most importantly, I listen to my body. There are sometimes, I just can’t in which case, I get rest and drink fluids.

I understand where this can be frustrating and I see the dilemma. Obviously you want to succeed in your career and it sounds like a major part of “work” is the social aspect. I think a funny example of this is once I watched a comedy where the girl pretended to be a smoker so she could go on smoke breaks with the boss. It…

To make your food diary public: Go to My Home- Settings – Profile Diary Settings - select Friends only or Public. You can also use the lock with key option to only give some folks access….for example if you are working with someone or have team. Once it is public, you can solicit some help in food choices.

Got my scale from target $6. Very cheap, plastic. But it works. The good thing, after using a scale for about a month, you get really good at “guessing” and estimating. Makes such a difference.

You worked it off. Put your original one. The weight loss on your ticker is to brag about the weight you’ve no doubt struggled to lose. My fitness pal is simply one vehicle you used. Go ahead and put your original weight…..think of how inspiring you will be for others. p.s. congrats!

Forgot to mention this as well. But excellent advice. Under My Recipes you can create your own meals and add your specific ingredients. Just be sure to guess the right serving size.

That “fresher” is way less preservatives. Most frozen meals are filled with sodium, in it’s basic form salt. While the body does need sodium, many of us take in way more than we actually need. That (in some cases) may causes water retention, dehydration which can affect performance in workouts, and your kidney’s…

While there is not a Mod you can complain to directly regarding inappropriate messages, there are mods out there who I am sure has caught wind of this thread. Please remember to be respectfull when commenting. Personally, I can see where to some the progress pic may be interrupted as being more provocative. So, I will also…

My most favorite (and to me the simplest) triceps exercise is triceps extensions. Stand with weights in your hands and your hands over your head, then slowing drop them behind your head and light them back up. Want a way to really work those and your core at the same time? Try them laying on the floor while doing a bridge…

My experience is from running. I was taught that side cramps are caused from improper breathing. Slowing down my breathing, exaggerating the exhales through the mouth and placing my hands on my head (like I were to do a crunch) opens up the abdominals and airways and typically gets rid of the cramp in a few minutes. Muscle…

I am from Jamaican and you can eat the skin of most mangoes there. When I came to the US and tried it on a mango here I was in for a rude awakening. I think it depends on the type of mango. I have only ever been able to do it with mangos from home. Here I find that they don't taste good. p.s. only speaking of ripe mangos.…
