I'm a programmer too, so I know all about the sedentary lifestyle it encourages. Feel free to add me. This year I have resolved to get some exercise every single day, at minimum a half hour walk. This week I've managed to fit in a ~1 hour hike every day so far! As a bonus, that extra calorie burn (700 to 1000 in my case)…

On weekdays, dinner is usually my largest meal. Breakfast is around 300 calories, lunch 500, and dinner the rest. Weekends I usually hike both days. Breakfast is light - 200-300 calories - and I have a snack or two (granola bar, etc.) during the hike, then a really nice/generous meal (1500+ calories, hike typically burns…

About 2-3 times a week, but I only "count" the weekend weigh-in. The others are just for the sake of curiosity to see the fluctuations within the week.

We have a free soda dispenser at work, so occasionally I'll get a cup of Diet Coke to go with my brown-bag lunch. That's pretty much the only time I drink soda, though. I'm more of a beer and whiskey guy :-)

Down 14.2 pounds since the start of the challenge. Hope to wrap this up by next weekend as I'm leaving for vacation.

Bay Area for the last 8 years, LA before then.

Down 12.8 pounds since the start of the challenge. I am going to shoot for 20 by Thanksgiving, not sure if I'll quite make it.

Down 9.4 pounds since the challenge started. 5.6 to go!

Same as last week, down 7.8 pounds since the start of the challenge. Will have to step up my game to get to 15!

I didn't realize this site even had ads. Doesn't anyone else use AdBlock?

Request sent. I'm aiming to drop from 288 to 150, with a goal of 2 pounds per week. In addition to staying within my calorie budget, I aim to take at least one good 2-3 hour hike in the mountains every week, even in the rainy season as long as it isn't pouring. I've already been doing the hikes for the past few months but…

That's fantastic and inspiring! I hope to achieve the same thing: my blood pressure is elevated, and I would really rather fix it the natural way by losing weight instead of taking pills with who knows what side effects.

No specific meal plan, just aiming to stay below my calorie budget and take one good 2-3 hour hike every weekend. Had to sit out this weekend to babysit my cat who just got out of surgery but should be back on the trail next weekend.

Maybe swimming, if you have access to a pool?

I'm in!

At least 3000, and substantially more if there was beer involved. :noway:

I'll be 45 next month. Looking to get in shape and drop a lot of weight. I've been hiking every weekend for the past few months, but procrastinated altering my eating habits, hence did not lose much weight so far. Found out about this site this week and decided to commit to eating correctly while maintaining the weekend…

I'm just getting started and this is as motivational a goal as any. I am shooting for 2 pounds/week, and Thanksgiving is 10 weeks away, so if I can hit that weekly target, maybe I'll even overachieve
