I use the restistance bands, not the pull up bar and it has worked well. Tony and team show both options in every video so you will know how to modify the bands for pull ups. I tie a knot in the band, open the door and close the knot on one side, with me on the other (a trainer showed me this years ago so I could work out…

OMG, I LOVE my greek yogurt! It has very high protein which I like as I'm trying to up my protein intake. Several ways I enjoy it includes: 1) adding to my protein shakes (just 1/4 c makes it creamier) 2) stirring in a cup of blueberries and putting it in the freezer for 10 minutes. A frozen dessert treat! 3) Fruit…

Awesome! You look fit and happy! And with all that new energy I bet you can now keep up with the little ones! I' m halfway thru P90X and loving it. Your story is inspirational and makes me realize I will get there too!

I try and eat 100-125 grams of protein a day and I try not to eat more than 1 serving a bread a day (whole wheat!) and then 1 serving of either brown rice, quinoa, or whole wheat pasta. Goos Carbs are in veggies, etc but its the processed carbs that can add the weight if you are not careful. Good luck!

Excellent job! Its those surprises that we least expect where we see the reward of our efforts! Ok, I feel stupid but I need to ask, what is an NSV? I've seen it on the posts alot but I don't know what it stands for?

I agree wtih vwbug and Marli. You might consider putting some muscle on those lean bones:>) and start feeding your body a lot of lean protein and less carbs and see that changest hings for you. It has worked for me and while the loss on the scale has slowed down I'm ok with that because my body is starting to take on a…

I think you should play with it and increase your calories to 1600. If you are already exerciing, pick it up (intervals, more intensity at whatever you are doing) and see what happens. 1200 seems very low too me as a starting point but I have a slow metabolizm (I had it tested) and it has dropped 300-400 points in the past…

I've used WW in the past and found it helpful to be accountable and to have to weigh in with others so that might be what you need right now. I have a friend on the new points system and she says it is really good and more suited to her lifestyle than the program in the past. Yeah my SO eats like a 12 year old (and is in…

I trained myself to use greek yogurt. I started by using 3/4 light mayo with 3/4 greek yogurt. Then move to 1/2 and 1/2. Now I just use greek yogurt and it is great! I also put in a dash of dijon mustard just to get some additional flavor going. Good luck!

Obrien Potatos can be purchased frozen for simplicity's sake. Or you can make your own but that takes some planning ahead. They are diced potatos, onions, peppers and some spices.

I ALWAYS weigh at least 5-7 lbs more at the Dr. office than I do at home. Like everyone has said, they weigh you after you have eaten, had several coffees, and all your clothes are on! At home, I weigh first thing when I get out of bed, once a week, naked. That is my real weight. And even then, it does fluctuate depending…

I suggest you get a new doctor. I am shocked at such terrible advice! All research points to the fact you need at LEAST 1200 calories a day to avoid slowing down your metabolism and kicking your body into "starvation mode" meaning it will start to save every calorie you give it so you can survive the "famine" of 2011! I…

Ok, this is sounding a bit like passive aggressive behavior :>) Maybe she is jealous of your progress on MFP! Say NO, No, NO, to the CHEETO!

I HATE it when people bring in junk food into the office (had alot of that at Easter) because it just sits there calling my name the entire day!! I try visualization (worms/earwigs in the food) but that only gets me so far. If they keep calling, get a portioned controlled bag for yourself, satisfy the craving and know that…

Agree...that, and the fact the media keeps paying attention to him. If you ignore him, he will go away!!

Normally, I would say your heart rate monitor, but that sounds WAY off. I run for an hour (12/hr) and can barely get 500 calories and I weight 170 lbs (my average HR is 140-150 bpm). I would check your user settings and make sure they are accurate. It sounds like you have a Polar and those are usually pretty good. I NEVER…

I use a resistance band for the pullups. I tie a knot in the middle and then open the door, put the knot on one side, closing the door on it and it stays in place with no problem. I started with the red band (easy) and am now on the purple band (harder). I like that they always show how to use the bands as an option. I…

No, but i just got home from a mini vacation there at the Hotel del Coronado. Nice! Weather is so perfect for working out. We took a long bike ride around the island (a couple of times!) on Saturday and a great walk/run on the beach and we saw everyone out there working out!. Very inspiring!

Take a blender and put in a cup of ice Add 1/4 cup nonfat milk 6 0z water add 1/4 cup FAGE yogurt (for texture) Add 1/2 banana and any other fruit (frozen berries/fresh strawberries) Add a scoop of chocolate whey protein (And sometimes I add a shot of expresso or Starbucks via to make it a mocha chocolate smoothie)…

Wow, good for you and how inspiring!!

Great article (love the humor!) and so true. I spent the last couple of years biking as my new BF was into it and it was something we could do together. I stopped lifting weights but I was doing these really long rides (50-75 miles) and training for big climbs and felt I was staying in good condition. But suddenly the…

Welcome to MFP! You will find lots of support here and people trying to do the same thing...lose weight and make healthy lifestyle choices. I would think walking would be a really good place to start. Maybe just start out 10 minutes out, 10 minutes back everyday. And if you can do more without hurting great, but if not…

Way to go! And great job taking the measurements as well as the bodyfat % as I didn't do that until this past month when I started P90X. It helps when you start building muscle and definition.

Great thread! I love bike riding and rode my first metric century this weekend (63 miles). Actually it turned out to be 66 miles as they did not mark the course accurately but who is counting! We climed over 2500 feet in the hills of California and it was quite the workout. I couldn't stop eating at all the rest stops and…

I like my martini or glass of wine two to 3 nights a week so I plan for them in my calorie allotment. If I'm not seeing any movement on the scale, I back off that for a week or two and it seems to help get things going in the right direction.

I do my cardio workouts early in the mornings and then the P90X, which at my lunch hour or after work. This works for me 90% of the time and on the days I can't do everything, I commit to doing at least the cardio OR the P90x.

Welcome and what a great time in your life to learn healthy habits and how to take care of yourself! Its taken me a while and I wish I knew now what I knew then! I'm a runner too but not as much as I use to when I was your age and had better knees :>) I bike more than run now but enjoy it nonetheless. Pelase add me if you…

Before it is cooked. Once it is cooked it should yield 3/4 - 1 cup!

Yes, I think working out in the morning is a great idea as it gets you headed in the right direction and it kicks up your metabolism early in the day. I also find that a workout buddy is a must! If someone is at the gym waiting for me, or at my front door ready to run, I can't roll over and say I will do it later. By doing…
