My diary is open, but I've been really bad about logging consistently. I'm going to change that. But yesterday was a good day. Today is going to be. Last week I had a few good days. Protein powder helps me get to my protein goals, but it isn't necessary. I've only tried two - Body Fortress Cookies Cream and Trader Joe's…

Great topic! Here is me: http://pinterest.com/sweetjean/ My "yum" board is a mix of some healthy stuff and some splurges.

Sorry for offering an alternative way to measure success. I honestly don't know a good brand, but I do know that if you use the same scale every time it won't matter how accurate it was to start it will still measure whether there was a gain or loss in weight.

I laughed when I read read this and thought... maybe I should cook myself to lose weight  jk Anyway, I would go with the raw weight. Does the nutrition label state the serving size as grams and whether it is grams raw or cooked?

Like any cardio exercise you chose, it will become less affective the better you become so whether you swim or run just make sure you keep pushing yourself. If you can do 100 meters in 2 minutes today, then aim to do it in a minute 30 2 weeks from now (something like that). Switch it up, do intervals, not just a slow 500.…

Even with the most accurate scale, you won't know if your weight loss/gain is from water retention, LBM, or fat... so take measurements and don't worry too much about the scale.

Lots of great info here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets

@braggsalot - yep 2 sets. When you get to the last 4 workouts of stage 1 it'll bump up to 3 sets, but fewer reps. The idea is you should be lifting at a weight that is kind of challenging so that 20 reps would be near impossible. If you found your first workout too easy, increase the weight. @Tyger - you may have the bar…

Multiply your weight (total) by .35. You should eat at least that many grams of fat. At least. So if you go over, that is ok.

I'll be honest. I didn't read every comment, but I'll throw in my 2 or 3 cents... 1.) 1500cal/day seems low for a dude, sure you can lose weight on that, but you are also losing lean body mass (such as muscle). The higher your LBM (lean body mass) the better your metabolism... so lose LBM and your metabolism drops meaning…

I think when people who are used to you being a certain way see you much smaller they just aren't used to it so they think it is wrong. It happened to me a few years ago, and I only lost about 25 lbs I was still far from slender by any stretch (I think I was around 150 and 5'3"). My grandmother took one look at me and said…

Start slow, ease into it, just to get over the nervousness. And make sure your form is good. How did you injure yourself?

I'm looking ahead to Stage 2 (still have a few workouts left in Stage 1). Is everyone doing the wide leg deadlift on a box. It seems the trouble I'm having with my form now (so I'm told) is that the bar is too close to the ground so my back is rounding out at the bottom. The solution is to bring the bar up to the height it…

Yes, get the book. It is very well written, easy to understand and informative. There is so much more to NROL4W than just the workouts.

dammit where is that like button?

@chocolate I need to reread the book. I'm not sure. But I think if I'm going to drop to fewer reps I should increase the weight. Since I don't think I'm capable of increasing the weight yet I think I'm going to do one more workout at my current rep/weight so I feel more comfortable with an increase in weight.

I just did Stage 1 Workout A 6 and I wasn't able to increase any of the weights. I'm still struggling, so I think I'm going to repeat 6 before moving on to 7... thoughts?

It all comes down to how you want to spend those140 calories. I don't like drinking calories unless it is a protein shake and will actually keep me full and satisfy some of my nutrient requirements. If your sweet coffee is important to you, then you'll figure out how to fit it into your day, but if you want to free up…

I did one last year and it was so much fun. I'm looking to do another but they are getting expensive so I'm keeping an eye on sites like Living Social or Zozi for deals. Also, you don't really ruin your clothes. I think I washed mine maybe three times after the run, and they are fine now. Just don't wear white.

It was intentional... sorry

Why wait? Roller Derby work outs are the best. I have a friend who joined and now has a visible six pack.

Thanks. My budget is "cheep". I live in Brooklyn, bike theft is a huge problem here. So I don't want anything "flashy" and I also don't want to be super pissed if it gets stolen. I'll be less pissed about a losing $200 bike than a $600 bike. I plan on buying used, probably off craigslist so I guess I was just curious if…
