One of the best sets of before/after pics I've ever seen.

Anyone out there running likely is primarily trying not to die of the heat, and noticing other runners a distant second. If you do want the sports bra, think sunscreen, early and often. You don't want to encourage wrinkles and skin cancer on your way to a toned body. I love the sun, but probably loved it a bit too much in…

Too funny. Are you sure you don't want to post a picture of the allegedly ridiculous jeans?

For a jog, say 11.5 min/mile, about 100 calories. In fact, I just assume 100 calories/mile regardless of my time.

Agree with previous posters. As an aside...even if you DID need to gain weight, a cookie  is not the way to do it.

You'll be free when you don't care one way or another what anyone else -- including your parents -- thinks of your appearance. Have you ever heard that difficult people are a gift? God (or karma, however you look at the world) puts challenges in our life to teach us lessons. You've learned a lot. Maybe you should be…

Phew. G-rated. Thanks.

I'm almost afraid to ask what LSC stands for.

When you're thinking about actual fat lost, remember that it's a net number. You likely lost more than six and added a bit of muscle. See, even better.

I've lost nine pounds in five months here and I'm over the moon happy. (I know that's extreme, but still...) It's staying off. Every day you don't gain it back is a victory. Congrats!

If anyone (i.e., me) ever wondered whether it was worth it to knock off those final 10 and get toned, no more. Phenomenal. Did you do workouts at home to a video?

I understand the desire to tan, and I don't even mind what I look like after having been in the sun a bit. But I know -- and I'm sure you know -- that any tanning is a protective response to a burn and ultimately you're increasing your chances of wrinkles and skin cancer. Modest tan equates to modest risk, but not no risk.…

Oh, yeah, a great site. Or cite. Or sight....

I love that profile pic.

That. Right. There. Yes.

Okay, this is a chance to plug one of my favorite websites: www.regrettheerror.com. (I have no connection to it; it's just a hoot.) It's a compilation of corrections run by various media. Some of the corrections involve content, but the best ones are the goofy typos. You would be amazed at what autocorrect can do to an…

This site definitely needs a "like" button. Funny sign, great facial expressions. Thanks!

Your post is an opportunity for me to share my favorite weight-loss aphorism...losing weight after 40 is like moving cement. And it is. One thing that's different over 40 is that rest, yes rest, is important. Ask your trainer about rest intervals after hard workouts, and follow his/her advice.

This news item likely was prompted by recent instances -- VERY RARE INSTANCES -- of marathoners downing too much water during their 26.2 mile trek. They just mindlessly knocked back water until they essentially diluted their sodium levels to a dangerous point. It was reported among slower marathoners (imagine why I'm up on…

Agreed. You'll get in great shape, but if you're training correctly, you probably won't lose much weight as marathon day approaches. I never did, anyway. While you're at it, take special care to make sure you're eating right. Your body needs it more than ever.

I'm looking for a good fall/winter marathon, and would appreciate any suggestions. As far as giving advice, I find that running in an organized group essential. A lot of mornings, there's no way I would get up and pound out the miles myself.

Thanks for that.

You're kidding, right?
-
Well, you HAVEN'T lost a sense of humor. Thanks for that.

And, and...you're wearing horizontal stripes in the second shot. There's a BIG difference.

No question, a pint of fresh blueberries always is going to look expensive next to that 99-cent tub of Wendy's chili. But you know, basically, what you're getting with the blueberries, especially if you're shopping at a farmer's market. God only knows what Wendy's is doing to make a profit on that chili. All the…

Love this.

Wow, it all works -- your new shape, and hair, and clothes. Congrats.

This one is so moving.
