Scottish, or so I'm told.

Ah...you mean walking! When it's above 50 outside, I'll give it a go. I did some in the fall but cold air is a trigger for me anyway, and when it's 42 and windy, I'm inside. Thank you for the tips about 3 steps in and out, I'd not heard that and will try it!

Your logic has no place in my phobia  ETA: it is a manufacturing facility, with hundreds of people. A bathrobe isn't enough of a barrier!

covered bridges dead snakes (live ones too but that's pretty normal). I logically know a dead squished snake can do no harm, yet I run and look behind me anyway. If I drive over, even a dead one, my feet come off the floor of the car. using the shower at work after a workout in the fitness center; what if the fire alarm…

I'm trying to be able to run a 5k and just started week 3 of c2 5k. I have the same problem with my speed outside. Also I have astlhma so I'm not running outside yet as the temperature has been too cold for my lungs.

I'm not sure how you intended this reply, but I'm a bit offended because this sounds a bit condescending. If I had a healthy relationship with food all along, I wouldn't have gotten to be 100 pounds overweight! I'm a work in progress, as are most of us here. My answer was to the question of feeling FORCED to have a cheat…

It does feel a bit like an excuse to binge and get all off track for a longer period of time, and will include guilt. Can you meet yourself 1/2 way and enjoy new places, have fun, but make better choices than the old days and stop eating when you are satisfied, even if it means throwing out food? Please don't think I'm…

Those people need the practice. I pull up past the spot, toss it in reverse, and I'm in. Takes MAYBE an extra 3 seconds than pulling in. Pulling out saves about 10 seconds <insert "that's what she said">

soft serve ice cream is so tasty and seasonal. If you want a cold treat at an ice cream stand, but don't care so much about the calories, a Popsicle is often available. I have also paid for the smallest cone they have and requested 1/2 the serving. They will ALWAYS accommodate that.

I steam them and drizzle fat free zesty italian dressing on them. Also toss them in a stir fry.

This. And some kind of activity, even if less intense, actually helps the physical blahs and grumpiness. And ibuprofen.

How refreshing! Many of the people with ginormous trucks seem to make it their life work to inconvenience everyone around them. On behalf of normal size car drivers everywhere...thank you!

My saving grace is exercise! Some people don't eat those calories but I do! I figure if I can lose while eating more now, it will serve me better in the future. I know I will need to cut back the calories as I lose but as long as I'm losing, I'm going to keep eating to satisfaction. Going to bed hungry is not acceptable to…

When I was a Girl Scout Leader, it is GS policy that everyone back in park at any GS events. This ensures a safer and organized exit if there is an emergency. Everyone takes turns pulling out behind one another. If some are pulled in, some are backed in, it is a recipe for fender benders if everyone tries to leave at once.…

Feel free to add me! I'm 47, and have about 60-75 more to lose. Focusing on tracking and exercising. I believe I will always eat junk. Just need to work it in and compensate with exercise. :)

Where has April slipped off to? I can't believe today is the 18th!! Anyhoo...after a long weekend away this month where I gained 2 pounds, I've lost that again. Not going to hit my overly aggressive goal for April but still posting a loss and any loss is a good loss. :) April SW: 236.9 CW: 234 End of April GW: <226 Lost in…

I finally had to admit that was my problem also. Wanting run at a "runner's speed", I continually pushed myself too far and had to recover after every attempt, therefore making little to no progress. Just started couch to 5K to FORCE myself to take it slower in order to get through the whole thing. I'm sure there will be…

That might actually help me! I won't run in my neighborhood though...when I'm out by myself at the hours the local wildlife are quite active. :noway: But I could get up, get out, and drive into town where there are plenty of streets to run and very few "critters".

Have you started eating more prepared (frozen, canned, etc) foods? Sodium content will play a big role in thirst, or it does for me anyway. Some days I'm at or slightly above the goal but I feel better and am thirsty less when I stay around 1200mg/day, much lower than the suggested goal.

I'm in! Never done one of these before but I MUST lose 11 by May 2nd so I can earn points in a wellness program at work. April SW: 236.9 CW: 236.9 End of April GW: <226 Hoping to get outside this month with some better weather, the treadmill is getting boring! edit to specify starting and goal weights are for this…

Thank you thank you thank you. Great post and I will take this advice. I'm fat, I'm slow, but I'm motivated with a goal. I'll be a runner yet, and this will help me get there.

Love this thread! Today is day 7 for my return, and it is already getting easier to track. Getting back on the community boards tonight, forgot how much inspiration can be found here. :)

Sticking my nose in here because I have my eye on a 5K in June. Haven't run outside at all yet, too cold here so far. Just getting back into exercise and eating in a reasonable calorie zone after a few months AWOL, and managed 16 minutes today, at 4.3mph. slow, but my goal is endurance, and speed will come later.

Welcome! I'm also 5'7", started at 265, and today is day 7 of my getting back to it since early November. I struggle with junk food...chocolate, cakes, and chips. I'm trying to fit them in by exercising to accommodate those calories. Feel free to send me a friend request.

chicken. so many ways to eat it I don't know if I would get bored for the first year. I would be craving some greens and some fruits though.

Started at 265, around 240 now (haven't weighed in 2 weeks). I started off strong, got super busy at work so stopped working out which led to stop counting calories. Getting back on track but have been sick with one thing or another for just over a month. ALMOST back to healthy enough to get some exercise started again.…

Focus on this, keep exercising, stay within your calorie goal (adjust by 50-100 calories a day if you don't see results in 4-6 weeks). Stop freaking out about the scale, and live your life the way you want to live it if the scale said what you wanted it to say. How's that saying go? "Dress for the job you want, not the job…
