That describes me completely. I never even thought about this for myself...

This is wonderful advice. I wish someone would have told me that when I first started losing weight. The idea that we have to "diet" is so hard for people to understand. They hear that word, so they start searching for diets. They get bombarded with "this amazing diet" and "that amazing diet" and it's all just calorie…

I was hoping your explanation would make it sound better, but that just make it sound worse. Soup with a fork?
-
Dry soup? How can soup be dry?

I log my coffee, but that's because it's half coffee and half milk. I created a recipe for it and enter it each morning now. Green tea and hot tea I don't enter because they are negligible calories, so I wouldn't worry about it for you and your black coffee.

These may be the biggest hindrances to you. Your ideal weight is around 107.8 lbs - 145.6 lbs. You want to lose around 30 lbs to be "ideal" to yourself. This right here may be your issue. You don't really have that much to lose. You could easily go weeks (more than 2) without losing and then suddenly see a loss. Water…

I definitely feel better that I used to. My heaviest was 470 and I could barely stand up from the couch without hurting. I'm definitely more active and healthy than I was. I just see no end in sight right now. Nothing makes me feel better than food, and that's where I'm at. I know I can get better at it, and I will.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you, but glad to hear you son is better now.

So the hospital gave your son hepatitis and you didn't pursue legal action? Can I ask why not? I'm not trying to argue. I like the conversation and I like hearing differing opinions. Also, I don't believe anyone is "lumping everyone in the same category." The OP asked about what people thought and she got opinions. The…

I'm confused. Are you saying that people that lived hundreds, maybe thousands, of years ago had better quality of life than we have now? In the 1900s the average world life expectancy was around 31. In 1950 the average world life expectancy was around 48. Today? The average world life expectancy is 67. Life is getting…

I eat the Aldi brand packet oatmeal. The brown sugar kind. Not too fond of the other flavors. I'll add a little peanut butter or half a banana if I have one that isn't too ripe and it will fill me up for most of the morning.

Get more active, monitor your calorie intake, and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. Those are the best tips you could ever get. 40 lbs in 4 months is a lot for someone your size, but I'm sure you could do it. The question you have to answer is "Should I do it?" If you are absolutely dead set on trying, then…

What do you consider supportive? Posting in each other's status feeds about how great everyone is doing? Honestly asking.

You work in "law-making" but avoid giving solid advice? I think you should find a different profession...

And don't get discouraged. I've found that once you talk to people one on one and it's brought up they will be much more open to discuss weight loss. Sometimes people don't know how to say something without sounding rude. As in, "You look like you've lost some weight" can turn into "You were so fat before and now you're…

That's awesome though. It isn't sad. Good for you!

I do that all the time now. I truly thought it worked. Now I'm even more self conscious.

Yeah, it's horrible that people ask for help on a public forum designed specifically to ask questions and get answers. OP, give us some information and we can help even more. What is your starting weight? Height? Age? Gender? What would your ideal goal weight be? What are your current eating habits? Have you done any…

Eh, I may be reading this wrong, but it's okay to be hungry sometimes. As a severely obese individual I can't honestly remember the last time I was truly hungry. Easy access to food and low will power make it so that I never went multiple hours without eating. Being hungry is okay, starving is not.

I'd be happy to join you. Are you planning on using this thread or are you going to start a group? Or are you going to start a thread in the Challenge section? Just let me know and I'll jump on board.

Yeah, I know I probably won't be done when I get to that point. When I get to 250 lbs I'll be the same weight I was in 8th grade over 15 years ago.

Increased sodium and carbs will make your body retain water more. You're just experiencing water retention. Nothing to worry about. It happens to everyone.

Ah yes, the fat guy shirt tug. I do it everytime I stand up or move in a seat. I'm worried my gut or crack is going to show so I have to make sure it's all covered properly. Not sure I'll ever break that habit.

I am a 6'7" male. I've just never seen those numbers. I'm currently at 360 lbs after starting out at 470. My doctor has given me the goal weight of 250 lbs but I've never seen anything to show how much protein/health fat I should be eating. Was just wondering.
