I can't really give you a good factual answer, but I can speak from my own limited experience. In my much skinnier past I only watched calories for the most part. I don't drink any soda or juices... just water, coffee and unsweetened tea. I have a sweet tooth, so candy in general. Specifically - Hot fudge pop-tarts, I can eat a family size box in 2 hours easily.

I work 3rd shift and use midnight as a cut off, only because the website automatically moves to the next day. I figure 24 hours is 24 hours no matter how you slice it up. I believe 8oz. of water counts as 1 cup. A pint is 16oz so you are drinking two cups of water.

Tap water for me. I have a filter attached to my sink but don't always use it. I have a Polar brand 24oz bottle that I carry with me when I travel. I bought the bottles for cycling but use them all the time.

Wow, im surprised at all the responses here. It all looks like sound advice to me, although I am still learning.
