Worried about my IBS issues I kept the breakfast routine simple-porridge and immodium. This is a big run through a city, and it turned out to be very well supported. some parts of the route were in the ring road but even there we ran in one lane and in most parts there was traffic next to us which was going slowly so many…

Thanks PastorVincent. I try not to set myself targets because then I get so stressed and anxious about failing them which I know is silly. I’d like to improve my speed so I can better 10k time. I’ll never be super fast. I once did a sub 60minute but I’m not I could do that now, however I can definitely improve on where I…

So after yesterday’s half I feel a bit tired, some aches in the thighs and core, big blister on my toe, but nowhere as as sore as I thought I’d feel. There was a discount on next years event if we signed up within 24 hours - so I did! I have a 10k in August then the half next year. Advise me knowledgable people - do I keep…

Today was my first half marathon and I am very happy to say I completed! Apologies if this post makes little sense - my brain is quite addled. I kept my usual breakfast of porridge and added immodium. The weather forecast was for it to be about 6 degrees at 9.00am this morning - it was wrong! I had dug out several layers…

Thank you both. I will try and remember this. I need to keep moving as I get very cold, very quickly, especially when tired and then it can all go bad very quickly. I am getting my kit ready now and have packed warm comfy clothes for the way home but I will instruct hubby to meet me at the finish with a warm layer, and to…

Very late to this month's challenge but i have been getting out there. 4 miles today and that's the last run before my half marathon on Sunday, few niggles in my knee but not bad. Can't believe it's come round so fast! The weather has been pretty bad here, on Wednesday it was pouring all day and 8 degrees. If it's like…

I had a raft of blood rests which showed I wasn’t ceoliac but I am eliminating gluten for a while to see if that helps. Thanks for the tip about the ginger Shanaber. I’ll try that too.

The painkillers are a ‘just in case’ as I occasionally get migraines. I hadn’t thought about the stomach irritation - the ibs stuff is still new to me and I’m still trying to figure out what i can do to make it better and I need to avoid.

I’m going for 50 miles again this month. So today was my last trial long run. As some of you may recall (and again apologies for TMI) my last 2 long runs (8 and 9 miles) have really aggravated my IBS and I have been quite unwell as soon as I got home (like an hour basically stuck to the toilet!). As there was still 4 miles…

I’ve just been diagnosed with ibs too. I agree stress and anxiety have a big effect. The last few months we’ve had a lot of times feeling sick (never actually been sick) needing to pooh 6-10 times a day, bloating etc. We have just finished s big building project which has been incredibly stressful, and work has been…

Thanks for the advise Elise. Definitely won’t be eating soup again before a run. Will try another long run mid week with some Imodium beforehand. If it happens again, I think I may have to give the HM a miss as can’t risk it.

Oh man! So in the 2and half hours since the run stomach has gone into overdrive! I went in the bath after putting daughter to bed. I was really cold by then so I maybe got it a bit hot but a few minutes after I got out I felt really ill. Felt so sick, couldn’t lift my head from between my knees without feeling I was going…

8.5 mile run tonight, my second long run. I never thought I’d enjoy them, especially alone but actually it’s ok. Except ....and I apologise for the TMI - runners trots! I have recently been diagnosed with ibs. I am trying to eliminate things and find out what helps but it’s early days. Last long run I got home ok but then…

I'm running my first half in 3 weeks so I'll let you know! It's been hard to keep motivation and make time. I ran a few years ago for a couple of years, never fast but 3-4 miles twice a week and I'd done a couple of 10ks. Then my running partner got injured and I let it slip. I entered the race intending to get back but…

So pleased with a 9 mile jog in 2 hours this morning. This is the furthest I have gone! I set out with the aim of saying out for 2hours rather than a distance. It’s a glorious morning here and as it’s s bank holiday town was quiet early on so I went through town. I live in a beautiful city and it was lovely to see it in…

So stomach feeling much better than yesterday I went out for a 2.5 mile jog. Definitely felt dehydrated and legs a bit wobbly but ok.

Hit by a nasty stomach bug so no running today except to the toilet! Training for the half Marathon was nowhere near where it should have been so in many ways a day out will make no difference but not good. Son had his cross fit pt today and I normally sneak in a short workout then but all I could manage was sitting on a…

Planned for a 6 miler today but woke up late (for me) and didn’t feel great. I went out anyway but only did 4, better than nothing. Hopefully get a longer one in on Tuesday.

Thanks for the advice about toes! My trainers are half a size too big. I’m discovering the right socks are crucial. I have insoles in due to tendonitis. I’ll keep them cut very short.

Advice please. My run today was 6.5 miles and my toenails are feeling it. I have a half marathon in a few weeks (yes i know I should be running further by now but hey, I am where I am. It will be slow but I’ll do it). Any advice on how to keep my toenails as I’m quite attached to them.

6.5 miles this morning! It was a non working day and I had planned my long run for today, but I still faffed about for an hour after school run! Eventually got out there . As usual 1st mile was horrible but I stuck with it, managed nearly 3 miles unbroken. I took a longer route into town (away from home!) There were a…

2.5 miles with section of interval sprints. Haven’t done that in a long time - thighs are burning!

2/4 30 min gym, 1mile walk, 1 mile run (my son has a PT session at the gym and I have to be there as he has autism and learning difficulties so I get a bit of exercise while he trains. Daughter is in a dance class next door, so we drive there, son and walked back home after his session, then I jogged back to the danc…

Just scraped in my 40;miles for March, need to do 50 in April.

3 miles this morning. Not sure if that's 27 or 29, or possibly something else entirely!

This has been a rough week - physically and emotionally, hugely stressed. I am not where I should be in preparation for my half marathon, i am struggling to find motivation. Today is the first time I have run this week, a slow steady 5 miles on the treadmill. Not where I should be , but this week it was the best i could…

Weather here was horrible - very strong winds and pouring rain. It’s a really busy weekend so few opportunities for a run so I decided to use the pay as you go gym at the uni where my son does an inclusive sport session on a Saturday morning. It meant I could get my workout done while he was doing his class, and still be…

Made use of the gym again this morning so 4mile treadmill and 0.5mile each way getting there so counting that as 5 miles. Treadmill is full but it has helped with pacing g i think. Total this month 14miles.

Sorry hopelessly behind again with posts. Missed a couple of days as wasn't feeling well, then life just got in the way. We are away for a couple of days with MIL and weather forecast rubbish so bought a gym pass for a couple of days. Got this morning for a quick session - 3 miles on treadmill in 32 mins! Pleased with…

Sorry me again, unashamedly bragging. I have just worked out to see my previous stats from Runkeeper (yes, I am useless with technical things) and as I said today's long run was significantly faster. Last week I did 8.8km in 1:08, today 10.33km in 1:11! Still slow but really pleased with that.
