Ay yi yi. THAT is a muddy dog.
-
This is pretty much her default look. She is always on the lookout for a handout.

This is one of my two nearly identical black labs - both rescues. I got this one at age 8 and she is karmic payback for all the tough work some of my previous rescues have been. I have never had a more sweet, loving or just plain wonderful dog. I am only sad that we missed the first 8 years of her life!

I don't have anything particularly insightful to say - just that this thread is so helpful to me to read. I have regular depression and then in the cold Minnesota winter I layer on seasonal depression. January and February in particular tend to be pretty rough. I'm doing ok this year so far. Thanks everyone for your posts.…

so many parents of twins here. The statistician in me wonders why that is.

PEOPLE DO THAT!!?? That's appalling.

I also have twins, and am a single mom. I look back on when I used to be able to come home from work and go for a run whenever, however long I wanted. Now I don't sit down until they go to bed. You'd think all that runnign around for them would help with weightloss, but severe post-partum depression found me. Eating was my…

The way my mother eats. She takes a tiny bite, then pats and reshapes the rest of the food for a few minutes, then repeat ad nauseum. It takes her 30+ minutes to eat a small bowl of rice and she is "busy" the entire time. My son's lack of attention to the world around him. This morning we couldn't find his shoes anywhere.…

So sorry to hear about your dog. I just went through that too - 3 weeks ago today. I also gave myself permission to just take a break and get back to it when I am ready. Unfortunately, it's been one thing after another all summer and into last week. I've cut myself so much slack that I've gained 10 pounds. It's tough.…

This is possibly some of the most awesome advice I've ever read.

I fall 1 inch short! Maybe we can be fraternal twins... Female 6'1" 49 cw 245, goal 170 or so

I agree. There is absolutely no guarantee about anything. Your adoption process (of an 8 month old) was probably pretty different than what I experienced looking at older kids.
-
I also went through adoption training classes in MN through Children's Home Society. Each class I got more and more scared. A panel of parents who had already adopted through the program came to talk. Afterwards, about half the class was even more excited to adopt and half wanted to run away screaming. Some were dealing…

this was my first thought too. IVF is a tough "admission" that you're not normal. (I had it) Also, for all those suggesting "just adopt an infant" I'd suggest you research it a bit more. It is incredibly difficult and expensive. As far as adopting an older child, you need to realize that they are available to be adopted…

I am in, and seriously - this time I'd like to get through ALL the comments before it gets locked. I'm usually about 1/2 way through, click "next" and bounce out to the main menu because it's been shut down. Bah

Maybe if I had an IQ of 126 I could know everything about everyone just by looking at them. Does MENSA know about this?

bump to get in my feed

sorry - I know this is a bit old, but I had to reply. Every mom I know IRL (even ones with twins) is just tiny, and was pretty much back to pre-pregnancy weight within weeks. I, on the other hand, sound more like you guys! Gained 30 or so with pregnancy, had them 6 weeks early, and gained another 30 with stress and ppd.…

on the outside I'm a suburban mother of two. On the inside - metal! My absolute favorite is Tool, but I find them too hard to work out to with all the tempo changes. Like someone else mentioned - I can't listen to much in the car because I don't realize how fast I'm going. I've always felt when most songs come on the radio…

the northern lights from the bed of a pickup truck on a gravel road in rural northern minnesota. Unbelievable.

as a single mom of 4 year old twins - I would wave my wand and have them go to sleep instantly (instead of the current 1+ hour it takes) Then I would workout at a normal time instead of the middle of the night. When I try to get up early, my son's super-hearing kicks in and he wakes up at the same time. Man I wish he would…

I'm 6'1" and aiming for 170. I remember being 165 in my athletic early 20's and that was just about right. We'll see at 170 about staying there or changing targets. Probably will be more body recomposition at that point.

as part of our company "wellness" initiative, they replaced lots of the old snacks with fresh fruit delivered once a week At first people were pretty resistant, but it's become super-popular. Also, we are small enough and have enough people with special food requirements that we've found a couple catering options that work…

Oh I am in. I followed the Gelato cleanse for recommendations but didn't eat it every day. Day 1: chocolate layer cake with fudge inner layer at my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party Day 2: Talenti belgian milk chocolate - my favorite flavor also - I adore the chocolove ginger and dark chocolate - I can't find it very…
-
I finally found Talenti German Chocolate cake last week and based on the reviews in the 30 day cleanse thread, I had to try it. Yuck. I think for me it was a texture problem - there are grainy bits of coconut blended throughout the chocolate gelato. I didn't even finish it. Thank goodness I had also bought a Belgian milk…

bumping for my feed - have a rough day of work ahead and will need a laugh..

I totally agree - don't force yourself if you hate it. That said, can you find a really beautiful place outside to run and just enjoy the scenery or people watching even though you feel awful? I used to live right by one of the most beautiful Minneapolis city lakes that has a 3 mile-ish paved path around it. Many days the…
