Why? Doesn't make any sense.

Hell, we got overtime all the time, but not because we didn't get our work done. There is a huge shortage of qualified nurses (because it's not easy and it requires an education) and we were short staffed perpetually. If you wanted to you could work two shifts seven days a week. You were pressured to pick up a lot of extra…

Yes. I STILL don't have kids, and I went to nursing school almost thirty years ago. As my reply to her indicated, I believe she was confusing nursing assistants and nurse aides for "nurses." You can indeed go into that very quickly. It no way takes nine months. Either way, she didn't mean fast food. Just sayin'

Yeah, but pineapple's percentage of sugar that is fructose is more than double that of strawberries, and it has more total sugar as well. Berries in general are much better for you than pineapples.

She has a right to be proud of it. She has a right to show it off. She even has a right to her self-righteous "What's your excuse?" comment. But that doesn't make the comment any less self-righteous. Never-the-less, her comment does demonstrate that the lack of self-esteem that leads to the kind of eating disorder she had…

I worked in a nursing home where the ratio was one nurse to 40+ patients (with 5 CNAs assisting) and on the "low care level" floor one nurse (with 2 CNAs assisting) for 85 patients.

I'm with you, but I think she meant "need something in a hurry" as in need a job in a hurry. You know, to pay for the unplanned kid?
-
Me too, which is why I quit nursing for IT. Monday through Friday. No nights. No weekends. No holidays. Computers are easier to deal with than people.

Hopefully, these idiots wear medical alert bracelets that let fat nurses know they don't want help if it's from a fat nurse. Otherwise we're trained to provide help to everyone.
-
Well, last year after my motorcycle accident the ER doc had cigarettes peeking out of his lab coat pocket and my hand surgeon was at least 350 pounds. The only overweight nurse I encountered was me. But I've pretty well had it with the self-righteous people here who think that they're not fat because they have some magical…

Which direction is the "wrong" one? What if my home is in the "wrong" direction? How would I get home?!?
-
Because 1200 calories is a deficit for virtually everyone. A bigger deficit is not necessarily better. It may be "impeding your goals" but your goals may not be reasonable either.
-
Turtlenecks?!? WTF do you have against turtlenecks? I'm a cancer survivor who is always cold. Turtlenecks are a staple of my wardrobe. I have at least two dozen in a dozen colors! I wear them every day from November through March, under everything!

Well, for starters you have to quit hating yourself. FULL STOP. You do not need to lose one single pound to be worthy of your own love and respect, and the love and respect of others. You don't need to do anything to be worthy of love and respect, and hating yourself sets you up to fail.

No, your body does not, in fact, know the difference between a cookie and fruit. It can tell protein from fat or carbohydrate, but doesn't care where they came from. It can't tell fructose in an apple from fructose in 7Up. Fructose is the problem with HFCS, BTW. Apples are particularly high in fructose, and not a…

The dead giveaway that it was snark was the good grammar and punctuation and the fact that Dr. Frankenstein was not confused for his creation. This was written by someone too well-educated to believe it.
-
No. It isn't.

You don't gain weight from "shocking the system." You gain a pound of fat if you eat 3500 more calories than you burn. There is no other way. You can gain a pound on the scale by drinking a couple of glasses of water. Two glasses of water weigh a pound. You're being ridiculous. Sugar is not "toxic." We in the first world…
-
There is some evidence that fructose is less healthy than glucose, so having your sugar be less fructose than glucose is a good idea. That's the entirety of the controversy about HFCS. Some fruits, like apples and peaches, are high in fructose compared to other, healthier, sugars. Other fruits, like berries and most…

Why would you think "lots" of us are incontinent? And I don't just leak, I gush as a result of bladder cancer surgery. I wear full adult diapers with an extra liner and still it sometimes overflows. And I'm not going to be "proud" that I'm incontinent; but I am glad I (so far) beat cancer.

You want to lose 28 pounds by christmas? And that is almost 20% of your body weight? That's not a reasonable goal. There are about 11 weeks until christmas, so maybe aim for a pound a week. And you will lose weight no matter WHAT you eat so long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In the long run, though, you'll be…

I have never been able to beat up anyone. I couldn't even fight back as a child when I was beaten up by bullies. Just can't bring myself to engage in violence even in self defense. Probably would be able to if the person above me were beating on a child or kitten.... But, no. I couldn't beat up the person above me. S/he's…

But you do "get" that "piling on the food and then sleeping" doesn't matter either, right?
-
Where's the degree from? Because they should take it back. What she's teaching flies in the face of peer-reviewed studies.
-
Your body doesn't care when you eat. Intermittent fasting on a 16/8, or even 20/4, can make calorie control easier for some people. If you don't like to eat early in the day anyway, you might give one of these a try. But eating only late in the day is no problem what-so-ever. Is that the "answer" you thought you knew?
-
So, that's seven "see a doctor" and one "press on!"
-
Pain that leaves you limping all week is NOT "weakness leaving your body" and if you "press on" through a stress fracture you can be crippled for life. Pain that leaves you limping all week is a message from your body that something is wrong.
-
Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. You need to see your doctor and find out why it's sending the message. If training is leaving you limping all week there is a problem. You say your shoes fit well, but were they professionally fitted? Look in to this. No you should not keep doing something that is…

You lose weight when you eat fewer calories than you burn. No one sells a magical product that can change that. If you really are a skeptical thinker ask them for their actual peer-reviewed evidence of efficacy--not testamonials and anecdotes.

If that is the definition of "prop" then I never, ever, ever wear "props." Life is too short to put it off until I'm a particular size. I also never wear heels. If "beauty" requires pain and foot damage, I just don't care to be beautiful.
