When I get a stitch while running, I slow my breathing down and taking deeper breaths (some of those lovely stomach expanding kind of breaths). I focus on breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth. After a short time of doing this the stitch goes away. The more you run the less you experience the dreaded stitch.

I had to train for a half-marathon on a treadmil because I was training over the winter and cold triggers my asthma (thank goodness my race was in Florida). I found it really helpful to increase my incline every 5 minutes and then back down again. For example for a 30 minute run... 0-5min: Incline 1 5-10min: Incline 2…

I have exercise-induced asthma and I run. I would try using your inhaler before you run and keep your inhaler on you as you run. I found that my asthma symptoms have actually subsided the more fit I got. My advice would be to listen to your body, use your inhaler if you need it, stop running if you have to.

I'm in the same boat. I've been hovering just over 140 for months now, it's so frustrating. I'm starting to think that this is my body's happy weight. I'm doing Insanity right now and I've made a little progress, but still haven't gone below 140.

Trader Joe's makes a baked blue corn tortilla chip that I really like. It's 110 calories for 1 oz, which compared to Tositos that usually come in around 150 calories isn't too bad. Plus the chips are very small and thin so you get a lot of chips in 1 serving, that always makes me feel like I'm eating more.

I'm 5'4" and 142 lbs. MFP also put me at 1200. After doing some reading, I decided to set my calorie goal to my basal metabolic rate (BMR). Using the BMR calculator here on MFP I reset my calorie minimum to 1374. Most days I eat from 1375-1400. I don't eat back my exercise calories so I don't feel bad on days I go a little…

I started Insanity 3 weeks ago. There are definitely times during the workout where I feel like I'm going to die, but when I push myself and get through it I feel like a bad *kitten*. I'm trying to get the last 10 pounds off. I haven't weighed myself yet, but I can definitely tell that I'm getting stronger.

I'm a high school Biology teacher. Not exactly working "in the field" but I spend my day talking about Biology and Forensic Science, and I love it :)

When I only ate 1200 calories regardless I had no energy and I was frequently getting hunger headaches. Now I try to eat my BMR everyday (you can calculate yours under 'Tools') but with doing Insanity, my net calories are definitely below 1200.

I'm 25 and have currently lost 53 pounds. Right now I'm doing the Insanity workout trying to lose the last 10-15 pounds.

I've used cans of soup, water bottles, cans of soda, etc. before I bought hand weights. When I was a kid my mom had 2 bottles of Rolling Rock that she kept as hand weights.

I'm with you! I teach science at a low-income high school and it burns me up every time I hear that I'm just an overpaid babysitter.
