I had a long stall too. I got weight loss going again by stepping back my calories to 1200 per day and continue with regular exercise. That and be patient - plateaus are totally normal and will pass with time.

I'm straight - so no :)

oooh, my best recipe for broccoli slaw is: one package bowtie pasta cooked and drained, while still hot pour over peanut sauce, enough to moisten and not overwhelm, then stir in one pkg of broccoli slaw. It sounds odd but is DELICIOUS.

I am a nurse practitioner, not a doctor but I work in primary care. I scanned all the replies and noted a TON of comments about PCOS. A pelvic US can determine that, also your endocrinologist or GYN could also figure this out. The reason for lack of weight loss with PCOS is insulin resistance. This is treated with…

Walking is good like most others have said. I nice alternative is seated or chair exercizes. There are several tapes and youtube videos and these are suitable for every fitness level and for those with joint and back pain.

I tried to friend you but that option was not available. I'm American but my ancestors are Swedish (my paternal grandmother) and I have studied Swedish and all my children speak Swedish - would love to have an MFP Swedish friend!

Feel free to add me also. I have an open diary and am a committed logger and commenter always looking for similar friends!

Go onto itunes or amazon and search "running music" there is an entire genre of instrumentals. I like these because they are harder to get sick of (for me) I also like Bangra dance and belly dancing music - fast paced of course. While I'm running I imagine I'm running on the beaches of some tropical island or through an…

Yes I was a very picky eater from childhood - my entire life. Liking or disliking a food is not a physical phenomenon, its purely mental. I know that sounds strange but its actually true. Overcoming my pickiness was more about making a decision than it was actually eating the food. I would literally talk myself into liking…

I was once a VERY picky eater. Could barely eat any fruits, vegetables or seafood. I think this is quite common in people who are overweight - we like the good stuff, probably ate too much junk, sugar and salt growing up so our tastes for healthier foods did not develop. I grew up basically eating sugar cereals, hot dogs…

Food is not an addiction, its abusively over eating that is an addictive and self destructive behavior. It is not the responsibility of the government nor grocery stores to fix this for you or anyone of us. We all have to take responsibility for ourselves and every single thing we put in our mouths. To face this is often…

I'm more of a 5k runner but running is my primary exercise. Feel free to add me too!

I don't have FB but FYI studies show that more exercize equals less pain, same with arthritis - without overdoing. Also when starting out try seated excercizes, there are many tapes available. Recumbant bikes and water aerobics are other great options.

I'm 46 - very committed - feel free to add me!

If you are building muscle that would result in weight gain. When I started FMP about 2 months ago, also started circuit strengthening which resulted in a 3 lb weight gain which took me about 2 months to lose! Look more at your body and less at the scale! Don't give up!

You could be gaining muscle from all the working out, or retaining water weight from inflammation if you are working out more than normal. Also - you said 1500 cals a day? Re examine your normal daily level of activity. That is what determines you baseline calorie needs when you are first putting your info into FMP. I…

I think there are very few on MFP that do not feel the same way you do. Lets face it, we are overweight because we eat too much and don't move enough. Losing weight is very hard work and we all need help. Tracking your food intake here is so helpful and I find it a huge dose of reality. I encourage you to especially read…

I've been going at this for about a month now - staying well under my calorie goal and working out several days a week. At first I GAINED 3 pounds, got very discouraged! I "realize" this is probably muscle gain from the working out but still! I have not weighed in since but I DO see a change in the way my clothes fit now.…

There are ways to make delicous and cheap salads. I focus on the fresh veggies that are much less expensive then find delicous and creative recipes for them. Go to allrecipes.com, type in the ingredient then go with the one or two with the highest rating. I've never gone wrong with this! I have used this formula with the…

There is nothing wrong with running slow when starting out. Slow jogging with intermittent walking is a good way to increase your cardiovascular strength without overly taxing your body. The trick is - as time goes by - to not be a slacker. I have a tendency to be a slacker. I will run daily, feel oh so good about myself…
