  • All recipes will work. To lose weight get a scale and measure out your portions. Stay within your calorie goal and you will lose weight.
  • But, why? Vegetarian by its very nature is high in carbs. If you are trying to lose weight you don’t have to do low carb. What are your goals?
  • When I was scheduled for Bariatric surgery I was on a liquid diet two weeks leading up to the surgery date and I struggled to achieve the minimum calories daily, six weeks following. I gave it the heroes try, however, logging all my calories here and working very hard to hit my minimum protein target. I’ll list some of the…
  • All food works but lower fat high vegetable will look more substantial. By comparison a meal replacement bar is deadly boring. Try a recipe from this site. https://www.skinnytaste.com/recipes/ - Get a new vegetable every few days and google a recipe to go with. - Have a favourite recipe for each of your protein sources.…
  • I’m not a fan of Keto, MCT oil or random supplementation, so take my opinion with a virtual dose of salt. I also don’t think there is a best brand out there. Read the labels and look at the RDA for comparison. I hear that magnesium supplementation is important while in Keto. I regularly browse the discount shelves at my…

  • A pretty tall order. Low carb, no eggs or yogurt. Try sardines on toast. https://www.google.ca/amp/amp.myrecipes.com/extracrispy/have-sardines-for-breakfast-with-this-italian-toast Or try a Japanese breakfast with Miso soup. https://www.thespruceeats.com/traditional-japanese-breakfast-2030063 You may prepare all the side…
  • Boy, I can’t beat @acpgee suggestions. I cook for two as well but I buy a family pack of hamburger. I make meatballs and meatloaf. The meatballs can be made in to spaghetti or sweet and sour balls. Similarly, it takes just as long to cook a tray of boneless meat thighs as it does to cook two. So prepare lots.
  • It won’t hurt to get used to a progressive lifting routine. As for gaining, eating food is good. Eat what you like and eat lots of it. Have something to eat when you get up in the morning and have something to eat before you go to bed. I knew a family that saw huge gains by ending their day with a bowl of cereal. It’s…
  • Water fills without calories. So try soups or stews. Air is also free so try air popped popcorn, wheat puffs.
  • If he says it is no big deal, respect him enough to believe him. It’s a tad excessive to keep bringing it up.
  • As for any other extraordinary claims on this thread, the burden of proof is on them; personal testimonials are excluded as a credible source.

  • Weight loss is from calorie reduction. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/start-the-nhs-weight-loss-plan/
  • Weigh that handful of nuts. They may surprise you.
  • You can easily increase your calories and reduce sadness by adding a dressing to your veggies. A tablespoon of vinaigrette will get you a lot closer to goal. And you will get some fat soluble vitamins. An egg can help too.
  • Weight loss is not directly correlated with fat loss because there is also water weight that goes up and down fairly quickly. If you want to go down crazy road, try weighing yourself several times a day. If you consistently eat less than you burn you will lose fat. This will become obvious over the months. I think some of…
  • This is the case for those of us who work in heavy industry.…
  • When I was diagnosed Type 2 I was referred to a dietitian and attended diabetic classes. None of these resources recommended a VLCD diet. If anything, it was drilled in to me to do everything in balance. Don’t skip meals. Eat on a schedule. Eat a variety of foods and include all your macros in every meal. Insulin is a…
  • I’d twice bake it and smash it and broil a little Asiago cheese on top. Maybe dust with white pepper.
  • In your mind how many calories is too many? As far as the body is concerned all surplus calories will go to the same place. If you are still hungry, eat more. If you want a toned body as you gain, be lifting weights.
  • For super fast stir fry in the evening, cut the veggies in the morning.
  • I make this over and over again. Baked tofu with baby bok choy. https://pin.it/aatrp3bp6p5oj4 Also baked in the oven. Super easy with jarred teriyaki sauce.
  • I cook for two. I buy a family pack of hamburger and bake a tray of meatballs all at once. Have this with a tomato sauce with extra tomatoes and onions. Have with pasta. https://pin.it/ita2bxzn6dec2s
  • You’ll be fine. Weight loss shows up week by week as you stick to the plan. Diet Coke has no more calories than water.
  • A burst bowel floods your intestinal cavity with bacteria and infection. A hard rock belly and two weeks of backup is not going to clear up with laxatives and a little bran. Every day you wait increases your danger. Your body, your life. Report back after your doctors appointment and let us know if you made it.
  • Fiber is essentially indigestible carbs. So they can’t be counted by an insulin dependent diabetic because they need a minimum number of carbs to match their insulin intake.
  • Good point @lemurcat2 . If going over calories while sticking to the minimum carbs is making her go over, then there are a few alternatives. 1. Reduce the insulin (under supervision) 2. Reduce fats or proteins to stay under goal. 3. Set a less ambitious calorie target so there is more room Bottom line, enough carbs are…
  • T2 diabetic here. You have to replace some of your carb choices with protein. It is easier to balance your day by including protein in every meal, every snack. I found that an egg in the morning gave me stellar blood sugar numbers all day. Another breakfast choice might be Greek yogurt. Snack choices might include half a…
  • I don’t know if you noticed but I built the meal plan with a single person in mind. Leftovers or surplus from the day before can be added to the next days meal. (Beef-beef, broccoli-broccoli, chicken-chicken).
  • If you like a limited range of foods, what are they? Add calorific drinks to your meals instead of using them as a replacement. The experienced gainers here suggested a powder you can add to milk or water. Milk has more calories than water.
