Are you in a caloric deficit? And yes, cardio will help you lower your body fat... but only if you are in a caloric deficit.

I usually drink Margarita flavored Crystal Light, tea, and rarely I will have a Diet Coke.

I think you answered your own question. Start small and just do 30 minutes of cardio 3 times/week. Lifts weights twice per week... it will make a huge difference in your progress.

Definitely not safe to assume... I'd actually go so far as to say it's wrong. Treadmill = cardio = fat loss If you want to "tone" your legs try doing some squats with weight.

If you are not losing weight then you are eating more than you think... If you were truly eating 1200-1300 calories you would lose weight. 1. weigh your food 2. weigh EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth, this includes things like coffee creamer and peanut butter. Measuring with spoons and cups is not very accurate. 3. weigh…

1. Ice cream 2. Peanut butter and chocolate, i.e. Peanut butter M&Ms, Reese Cups, etc 3. Fried chicken tenders and ranch 4. Chips and salsa 5. Lasagna

I quit cold turkey... the only way that worked for me.

It's painful to read some of these misinformed suggestions. You have 200+ pounds of excess body fat, therefore you do not need to eat at or above your bmr. I would stick to what your doctor suggested and eat 1500 calories. If you are eating whole foods like eggs, oatmeal, lean meats, vegetables, etc, 1500 calories is a lot…

I weigh every morning... I like to see how muscle soreness or sodium intake effects my weight. I don't record it or anything and my official weigh in is Friday mornings. This is the weight I enter into MFP.

Before you were pregnant did you hold weight on your abdomen? You may be one of the lucky ones, like myself, that loses weight last in your belly *sarcasm*. I have had one C-section and thought I would never lose all the fat around my stomach... 55 pounds later I've lost about 85% of the fat and it's still coming off. I…

You can eat whatever you want as long as you are in a caloric deficit you will lose weight... that said, eating 1000 calories/day is not healthy for anyone to do. If you want to be extreme eat at least 1200 with a variety of foods so you are getting needed nutrients. I'd recommend at least 1500-1800 for a 39 year old man.…

I wouldn't...

If you want to build muscle you need to eat protein... I eat 150g/day and I'm in a caloric deficit. You just have to make it a priority. Lifting heavy means that you are doing enough weight that you cannot do more than 6-12 reps. If you can do more than 12, the weight is too light.

Eat at maintenance and lift heavy weights.

Every once in a while I'll binge on "healthy" things in the house. I don't really know what my trigger is but sometimes it seems out of nowhere I'm stuffing my face. Hasn't happened in about a month. Here's an example of my last one: 3 turkey hot dogs on whole wheat bread as a bun 1 peanut butter sandwich 2 bowls of Honey…

Ummmm... explanation?

I know that I have maintained my lean body mass because I have gotten my body fat % done 4 times over last 8 months and every time it is done I have 113-114 pounds of lean body mass. I would find it to be a huge coincidence that every time it's done I have the same amount of lean body mass within a pound or so.

He is a complete moron. Keep lifting weights... you will NOT get big.

You should ALWAY do weights before cardio. ALWAYS. When you do cardio first all you are doing is burning up all the glycogen in your muscles and then when you go to lift weights all the glycogen is gone and you are out of gas, so to speak. On the flipside, if you do weights first you can burn up the glycogen and give your…

How do you feel after working out? How have you been feeling after eating 1200 calories? Listen to your body. I eat roughly 1300 calories/day and do not eat back exercise calories. I lift weights 5 times/week and do cardio 3 times/week. I feel great and have been losing weight consistently while maintaining my lean body…

Using a measuring spoon to measure something as calorie dense as peanut butter probably isn't a good idea. I would invest in a food scale asap... they are pretty cheap at Walmart. Mine set me back about $18 and you can't get anymore accurate. Instead of using the measuring spoon you would weigh the peanut butter on the…

I'm currently an 8 and would like to be a 2 or a 4. I'll know when I get there.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS STARVATION MODE. I could bring up examples of holocaust victims or starving people in Africa, but that would be a bit morbid. Please read this article. All of you. http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/

I don't drink... so I guess count me in

Eat whatever you want, just stay in a caloric deficit. I think it's easier to eat lean meats and veggies and other "clean" foods because you can eat MOAR of them. But in reality, as long as you're eating less than your maintenance calories you will lose weight. And don't cut out wheat or gluten unless you have an allergy.…

I let myself eat at maintenance the week of Christmas. I didn't binge, go crazy or over do it. I simply let myself enjoy the holidays. I put on about 5 pounds that week, 95% of which was just water weight. I am now back at the weight I was before the week of Christmas. By allowing myself to eat at maintenance I prevented a…
