Or perhaps I could belittle someone's weight loss by calling it cute. Maybe I could go from thread to thread spreading bitterness and insults. Nah... not my kind of thing. I'm sorry to hear you gained the weight back that you so proudly tried to rub in my face. I honestly am, and maybe that is the reason you feel the need…

Thank you!! :flowerforyou: I wasn't going to even humor a response to that and now I don't have to.

Thank you for using the most disturbing example possible. As a mother, that is the last thing I want to read about... it actually made me tear up. The person responsible deserves something far worse than death. Anyway, I shan't hi-jack my own thread.

Well since you've been there and done that I guess there's no need for me to share something with others that I found useful. Oh wait, scratch that... I think I will! Oh wait, I already did! I read your thread and found it quite insightful, and I agree with a lot of what you have to say above... but yet again I will repeat…

I eat 1200-1400 calories/day and breakfast is my largest meal... somewhere between 350-420 calories. I would say a more typical amount for most people would be 250-300 on a 1200 calorie plan.

I think 3 exercises with 3 sets per muscles would be a bit of overkill, and you'd be there are all day. Here's what I did yesterday for my upper body day: Push ups Pull Ups Seated Wide Grip Rows* Military Press* Bench Press* Dumbell Bicep Curls Dumbell Tricep Extention Lateral Raises On the compound exercises I did 4 sets…

I just switched to TDEE - 25% today... but I was eating 1200 calories before that which is an even bigger deficit than TDEE - 25%. It will definitely work. Calories in < Calories out. As you get closer to your goal think about transitioning to TDEE - 20% and then 15%.

Take a look at this: http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/full-body-vs-upper-lower-vs-body-part-split/ He goes into detail about the different splits you can do and what is beneficial for who. I just started doing: Monday - upper body Tuesday - lower body Wednesday - cardio Thursday - upper body Friday - lower body Saturday -…

Set your calories to 1700. Protein to 40% Carbs to 40% Fat to 20% That will give you roughly the same macros the trainer suggested. The reason you can't get them exactly the same is because MFP goes in increments of 5%.

I am originally from Austin, TX but I'm now living in the SC upstate (near Greenville) and I have to agree that there are waaaaay less healthy choices around here than there were in Austin. That being said, if you want to lose weight I HIGHLY recommend preparing your own meals -- especially if you plan on logging your…

You'll never learn, will you?!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I really like his site overall! He has a lot of great ideas and his writing style is entertaining.

It is quite simple isn't it? Shame I didn't see that thread. It would have made me very happy in the end.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!!! I try to make this point often but there will always be the "just eat more!" people telling you otherwise. As soon as I bought my food scale my eyes were finally open. Without weighing everything and I mean everything, there is no way to accurately log your good. Furthermore, the…

That is horrible. I remember a girl in high school that would get period cramps so bad that she would throw up. Ok now I feel like an insensitive a**. :blushing:

This is the last time I am going to repeat myself... Starvation response (i.e. adaptive thermogenesis) is REAL. Starvation mode, AS MOST DEFINE IT, is a myth. And I agree, this definitely isn't about you or me... it's about all the misinformation out there that is a detriment to those trying to lose weight. Oh jeez I just…

I have gone through labor and if endo is more painful than that I can TOTALLY see why someone wouldn't want to work out on their period. And now I'm feeling quite lucky that I don't have painful periods.

The article is NOT, I repeat NOT, disputing the fact that your metabolism will decrease as a result of a long term deficit. The longer or greater the deficit the more impact it will have on your metabolism. That was stated many times. What the article is saying is that you CANNOT hold on to weight or GAIN weight while in a…

I'm 5'3 and was 224 at my heaviest and I am now 165 with no loose skin. I plan to get down to 130 -- not sure how my situation will be at that point, but I'm hopeful. When I was at my biggest I worried about loose skin, but I'll take the skin over being fat ANY DAY.

There are a couple things I do... 1. Get out of the house and do something. I eat when I'm bored or when I'm watching tv so when I'm out and about doing something it helps distract me. 2. I do some cardio so that I can eat back the exercise calories 3. I brush my teeth. Old school trick but it works. 4. I chug a couple…

I am living proof that eating whole foods helps with acne. Ever since my pregnancy I developed horrendous acne. It was a combination of the hormones and my bad diet. After I had my son I expected my face to clear up and it didn't. I tried everything to make my face look the way it used to but nothing worked. My acne was…

I find it incredibly frustrating to read their comments. Who knows how many people read that nonsense, decide to eat more calories and sabotage their weight loss? I wish I were a special snowflake, but alas I am not.

I cannot relate at all nor do I understand why it would matter if I was on my period. Why should the world stop when it's your TOM? I take an ibuprofen and take my *kitten* to the gym. Maybe there are some ladies with excruciating cramps but I'm not one of them. Yes it is unpleasant, but not an excuse to skip a work out…

If someone is not losing weight they are not in caloric deficit. Period. If someone says they are doing everything right blah blah and we tell them the reality of calories in < calories out, we are doing them a service. Definitely NOT a bad idea. Rather than immediately saying, "Oh my gosh, you're in starvation mode! Eat…

That's great, but what is your source? And even if those numbers are accurate how are they differentiating the adaptive thermogenesis from the normal decrease in metabolism that occurs with weight loss? Lets say you start out weighing 200 pounds and then lose a good amount of weight -- 50 pounds. That weight loss in itself…
