Maybe it burns when she pees. Poor lady. And here you are judging her. How dare you!

Constipation probably.
-
I'll allow it.

IIRC it is two shakes and a balanced meal per day (please feel free to correct me if I am wrong here.) If you like that kind of structure and it works well for you in the short term you could mimic it at a fraction of the cost by buying a blender, getting a couple of smoothie recipes you like and adding protein powder to…

Lolz. No. I'd like to see anyone try.

It's an inordinately expensive way of following a very low calorie diet.
-
This is an outrage. What are they doing out of the kitchen in the first place?
-
^^^^ That.

And this information has only come out after you guys being together for 5 1/2 years? Wow. Tell your husband to get over himself or at least level with you as to how deep this fascination goes so you can make an informed decision together for the sake of your marriage.

Because you are his child and you can't help but love him and feel a sense of duty even though you recognise his nature? You're a kind human being. I think you may have to accept that if he doesn't allow help at home he will eventually end up in a nursing home. He'll have a fall, have repeat infections, end up in hospital…

Is there a possibility that you could get a carer to shoulder some of the load / give you a break? I think it's an amazing thing what you are doing but it can become very draining so getting more time for yourself will help matters.

Ooh, interesting. The potential seems enormous for healthcare but let's see if the execution matches it.

Thankfully this way well become a moot point in the next 10-20 years with the rise of cognitive healthcare computing / IBM Watson Health.

Very interesting. Thank you for posting the link. This line of reasoning: strikes me as rather obvious though. Food and drink clearly can mitigate feelings of discomfort, pain, anxiety and so on because it is a pleasurable experience. If the exerciser perceives the activity to fall in that category it may drive them…

Awesome. Great running.

Yes, it's incredibly rude* *not really

Am I the only one who thinks of this when the title of this thread pops up in their newsfeed? Just me then...

Oh, and further to my previous post it is sometimes the case that long standing members give others advice that they should just concentrate on meeting their calorie goal initially and then transition towards incorporating a "higher quality" intake as time progresses. This is normally within the context of an individual…

Lolz. The idea that you should meet your nutrient requirements and then the remaining calories you can allocate to whatever takes your fancy is a pretty mainstream public health position: what are discretionary calories That is the standard advice given on here and is hardly "garbage".

Firstly, I think you deserve to cut yourself a little slack. You are young and have had to deal with some ludicrously challenging life circumstances by the sounds of it. Even the strongest of us break from time to time. You're good. Secondly, comparison is the thief of joy as the saying goes and it is a losing game. Forget…

I'd lie and say "You know what, you are absolutely right. I will stop immediately." Then continue on doing exactly what you want and when they see you looking even better than you do today and ask why blink and say "aliens."

Yeah, I've heard good things about that app. Never tried it myself though although I did flirt with the idea. I'm waiting for VR to take off in exercise. I think it will be awesome. Can you imagine being a Samurai in Medieval Japan having to fight your way across a realistic landscape, or Jason Bourne gone rogue on a…

Yeah, that teacher is taking in loco parentis a little too far. I don't think teaching kids about the concepts of calorie or energy balance is a bad thing (quite the opposite actually and should form part of science classes.) Nor do I think it is necessarily a bad thing to teach them about calorie counting either. The…

No one needs to run. Well, not unless they are being chased by zombies or the cops that is... I would look into a structured plan to get into running such as the Couch to 5k apps (C25k) or Hal Higdon's beginner plans as it will help you ease into running and minimise the risk of injury. However, until you get a reasonable…

Fair enough. I would try a few things and take what works and throw out what doesn't. There is a sweet spot where you can lose weight without it driving yourself barmy but it can be a personal thing incorporating different strategies from different methods. Calorie counting is cool as it allows for a lot of flexibility…

Firstly, I am really sorry to hear about your parents. It must have been a difficult time for you. Secondly, just do something right now that you know you can. Literally any positive step no matter how small. Action begets action and you can work the details out as you go.

Wait. A person has to drink 9 litres of salt water over the course of this "cleanse"? 9 litres? Is this the Master Cleanse or the Robinson Crusoe Challenge? Good lord.

I did a half. That helped with getting my 10K time down. Then I focused on a specialised programme to get my 10k time down even further. It was awesome. Then life went a little pear shaped so I am back training for a regular 10k. It's still awesome albeit in slow motion ;)

I have to say that I have become rather fatalistic about the issue. Without going into a mind bending philosophical discussion on whether free will exists in any kind of meaningful sense I think unless some kind of radical Communist uprising sweeps the West and effectively turns the current food environment upside down…

Sadly it seems to be a common experience: A third of women harassed while running alone I know it's easier said that done but pay no attention to it. You know the old quote: “Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
