Welcome back! Just remember, you didn't put it all on overnight, so it won't come off overnight. And if you slip up, "fall down seven times, get up eight." :)

Down about 27lbs in three months. :) And even better, hubby is now (sort of) dieting with me, per doctor's orders. Things will hopefully go even smoother now!

I'm planning to pick up a Force on my next paycheck. Belated Christmas gift to myself. :D

Current - Senior Technical Writer Preferred - Game Designer Actually, I do both. But I wish I could afford to do the latter full-time. :)

That's the one I was looking at - is it really big when folded up? My apt is really getting a bit cramped, but for a good one, I'd get one.

Best advice I can give you, from a former alkie who cheerfully boozed her way through college. For every one drink you have, drink a glass of water. Trust me on this one. One - you stay hydrated (one of the two leading causes of hangovers). Two - you drink slower (which is good when money is something of an issue). Three -…

Getting dressed for Christmas dinner, instinctively grabbing my dress slacks (that I've not been able to wear for a long time due to them being extremely uncomfortably tight), and then realizing after I had them on what I was wearing and that they fit very nicely!

For those using the Force (insert obligatory Star Wars joke here), have you had any problems with the band? That seems to be the number one complaint when I look on Amazon, but I'm really more inclined to get the Force than the Flex (I prefer to see actual numbers, and the non-waterproofing thing doesn't really apply to…

Welcome to the madhouse. :) Just remember - you didn't get like this overnight, so you won't undo it all overnight. :) Best of luck!

THE DRESDEN FILES: SIDE JOBS by Jim Butcher, ATLAS SHRUGGED by Ayn Rand, and THE 47TH SAMURAI by Stephen Hunter. (I usually read several different books concurrently.)

I have two: Fall down seven times, stand up eight. The ability to get up after a defeat is far more admirable than the ability to never lose.

I have that quote on my desk at work, and it's been my motto since I started this thing. :) Great minds think alike.

My nickname on more message boards and forums than I can count, and also the name of my business. Samuraiko is a "Legend of the Five Rings" reference to female warriors of the samurai caste. ("ko" being the feminine suffix)

I knew what was being made, I didn't eat earlier in the day, and while I let myself eat whatever I wanted, I made sure to eat in moderation. ONE slice of turkey, ONE large spoonful of green bean casserole, etc. And I made sure to nibble a lot on the fresh fruits and vegetables that had been set out as appetizers. I think…

I'm not the OP, but I'm curious - as I *do* have PCOS, is there a suggested ratio for carbs/protein/fat that might be better for me to follow? (Mine are 40/25/35 atm, based on recommendations from another site.)

Much obliged!

I'm sure there are more than a few wrong entries in the MFP database. Was actually wondering how one might go through and remove some of the more egregious ones. And again, I'm not saying me stalling is not my fault. Sometimes it takes objective eyes to see, and I'm glad you guys are pointing this stuff out. It helps me…

Nope, I do skip meals on a regular basis; some days I'm just not hungry every three to four hours so I go for longer stretches without eating. The reason for packaged meals is it's easy for me to take to work and store in the company fridge/freezer; not as healthy, but convenient and enforced portion control. As for the…

Hmmm - going to the site that ginanz listed, for my height/weight/age/activity level, it puts my TDEE at 2483/day. Two questions come to mind: a) Based on what I described, do I still qualify as sedentary? I mean, I'm not bedridden, and I am prone to getting up and roaming around on a regular basis, whether at my desk at…

I looked at it, but it's not the same. :( So now I play RIFT. Which I adore. Still not the same, but still awesome.

My favorite game got cancelled. I'm still in mourning a year later. :( RIP City of Heroes.

The other way I eat yogurt is an Armenian thing I've been doing since I was little. Pasta, some melted butter, some garlic, and a dollop or two of yogurt, mix it all together. I get some weird looks when I make it, but it's long been a staple in my household. :) (Weird quirk - yogurt by itself is always yogurt to me. When…

My sweets craving lifesaver has been Quaker's Caramel Corn puffed rice cakes. 50 calories, nicely crunchy, sweet without being overwhelming. (I usually pair it with a glass of ice water.) Even if I have two, I then feel comfortably satisfied and am good for a long while after that. My other lifesaver are the 100-calorie…

Add just a little bit of honey. :) Or sometimes I make tzatziki out of it with some cucumber, salt, a touch of garlic olive oil, and a pinch of dill.

If you own a crockpot, the recipe books you absolutely MUST get are the "Fix It and Forget It" series. So many delicious recipes in there (my favorite book of the series is the "Fix It and Forget It: Five Ingredients" one). They're virtually idiot-proof (a necessity for me), cover any meal you could possibly have to cook…

Soda. I have had a grand total of 8oz of ginger ale in the past five weeks. This from someone who drank Coke daily - not in huge quantities like a 12-pack a day or anything, but it was my drink of choice. And the ginger ale was to soothe an upset tummy. I had half the 16oz bottle, and then dumped it. I am TRYING to cut…

Craigslist can be your friend once you move - if you have stuff that is too much of a hassle to deal with, and can be replaced inexpensively on the other end, sell it before you leave, and then get it cheap once you're in the new place. (When my husband and I moved from Phoenix to Seattle, we donated a ton of stuff…
