  • 5'8, 291 lbs, and I wear b/w a 24 and a 26, depending on the brand.
  • I'm sorry to hear that money will be tight, but let me assure you - there is no dollar value for your safety, your freedom, and your well-being. Do *not* be ashamed to ask family and friends for help, and sometimes, even the kindness of strangers might astonish you. Besides, as I told myself many a time after leaving my…
  • 40 days in, 13.6 lbs gone, so... 47,600. Still have 412,300 to go...
  • Dinner the other night was crockpot balsamic beef roast. I also do a lot with very lean ground beef, have created my own (healthier) crockpot variant of Olive Garden's Zuppa Tuscana (using sausage), and love shrimp and scallops.
  • While yes, I want to lose weight because I know I'm fat, and it will help me be healthier, live longer, be more active, etc... ... my motivation is that two of my best friends are supervillains, I'm going out to Michigan in October to photograph their misdeeds and mayhems, and I need to be able to outrun them. No, I'm not…
  • Good for you. Getting out of bed was probably harder than anything anyone here is suggesting to you. (Yes, depression is hell.) Just keep at it. As a lot of folks are fond of reminding people on here (and so they should), you didn't put the weight on overnight, so it's not coming off any faster than it went on.…
  • Standing for more than half an hour, working at one of those large-scale paper cutting gadgets at Kinko's, and not having my back screaming at me.
  • I'm weird in that I track measurements across the whole of my body. (IIRC, I measure neck, arms, bust, ribcage, waist, hips, thighs, and calves.) In the 37 days I've been back on MFP (and *NO* exercise), I've seen a half inch here, a half-inch there, at least an inch off my hips (GOOD RIDDANCE!), etc. It's weird to see…
  • Just for myself, it depends by how much I've gone over. If I go over by about 100 calories (out of my daily allotment of 1560), I just sort of go, "Well, drat," and carry on. I don't punish myself, and I generally try not to brood. I will still lose weight, it just won't be AS fast. But it will still HAPPEN. If I MASSIVELY…
  • I have sleep apnea, and during my sleep study, they determined I was waking up almost 100 times a night. Not so much snoring, according to my husband, but DEFINITELY stopped breathing. I was falling asleep while talking to people, while at work, and a couple of harrowing times, when I was driving. Next stop, sleep study.…
  • For stuff like chocolate, I have a bag of Hershey's Kisses. 9 = 200 calories. I count out the 9, put the rest of the bag away, and make those nine last. It's usually my last snack of the night, and I enjoy it. For stuff like fast food, late night ice cream cravings, etc, I take off my shoes and socks and get REALLY…
  • If you've got a crockpot - RUSSIAN APRICOT CHICKEN chicken breasts 1/2 bottle Russian or Catalina dressing 1.5 cups (roughly a jam jar) apricot preserves 1 packet onion soup mix 4 oz each dried figs and apricots, diced Toss in the chicken, mix everything else, pour on top of it, cook on Low for 7 hours. Enjoy. :)
  • I have submitted requests to some of my local restaurants to please include a nutritional info PDF or something for folks who are watching their weight, concerned about food allergies, etc. Some have since added one. Others had one but it was only available on request (which I thought was kind of odd, and told their mgmt…
  • I had NO idea this was there. Thank you SO much for pointing this out!
  • A few tips and tricks I've learned over the years: If you absolutely love mashed potatoes but don't want THAT much starch, go for mashed cauliflower. A bit of butter and milk added in and you're set. Spaghetti squash is a favorite in our house, and better for you than pasta. Chicken, LEAN beef (I prefer 93%), pork…
  • I really like that. At the moment, I don't really allow myself a 'cheat' day (if I go over, I do my best to limit how much I go over, and life goes on, and I try not to beat myself up over it). But I could get behind something like this. Thank you.
  • Almost all of my crockpot recipes are cheap. Lots of food, easily prepped, and a couple days' worth each time.
  • The Rogue's Gallery podcast (re-listening from the beginning, so I'm on Episode 1: Welcome to the Rogue's Gallery). http://www.roguesgallerypod.com
  • Nabbing a black trenchcoat, red dress, black boots, one of those big unfolding camera props, and once again taking up the cosplay of my timetravelling superhero reporter. I have strange goals in life.
  • For myself, I've been screened, and I'm good. (Surprisingly so, considering I have PCOS.) But that is definitely something to keep in mind!
  • Cheers to everyone who's answered me! I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions - I'm 21 days in at this point and down 8 lbs, at 1620 calories per day for a 2lb/week weight loss. So... yay me. To answer those who've asked about me exercising, no I'm not. I do daily exercises for my shoulders (part of my phys therapy…
  • Normally with meals, about 2 cups per meal (and I usually only eat two meals a day, so four cups-ish). When I'm stomping on a craving, usually it's another 4 cups. As for how many times I go to the bathroom, I think I'm part camel - maybe 2-3 times a day? And I am not a coffee fan - I love how it smells, I hate how it…
  • Oh, I agree. (And I didn't mean 'detox' in the horrendously overused "I must purge all evils from my body" sense.) I was just wondering if the headache-y thing from going off caffeine was a recurring thing or just over a couple days or so. 2 - good points, I hadn't considered those. 3 - yeah, I was curious if anyone else'd…
  • Right now, my stall tactic for cravings is drink up to 3 glasses of water (which, me being me, I keep forgetting to log). If after 3 glasses, I STILL crave, I have a *little* bit of whatever it is. So far, so good.
  • A small glass of Apothic Crush (red wine) - 125 calories, and unbearably good. That and a lot of water (not together, of course!). :)
  • Confirm with your doctor if this also includes rice, quinoa, potatoes, etc. (For rice, I suggest wild rice instead of white; for potatoes, go for sweet potatoes for the beta carotene.) If potatoes are right out, I can tell you that mashed cauliflower with a bit of cream and butter is just as good as mashed potatoes. :)…
  • Chicken breasts I will happily throw in frozen. Anything with a 6-hr or longer cooking time, and you're fine. FYI - whoever shared that teriyaki chicken recipe? We made it tonight. OMG it was soooooo good!
  • Never heard of Sumo Squats... I'll have to look those up... Haven't tried doing lunges yet... I am a wuss. :)
  • Oh I know! Best way I ever found to keep my weight loss in perspective - I've lost just over 30lbs so far. So I picked up four gallon-jugs of water - 2 in each hand - when I was at the store the other day (which is a little over 32 lbs, 8lbs each) and stood there for a couple of minutes. Then I put them down and smiled…
