  • Yeah, i thought I might have to take up walking (once it gets cooler!!). It is rather boring for me though. I have an iPhone now though so i suppose I can download some books on tape to keep me entertained. The dogs could use a good walk now and then too. they've become outside dogs since we've moved to a fenced yard and I…
  • You're about where I was at 25 weeks. Maybe just a little over. And I ended up at 30 gained exactly. Only a 6lb baby though so keep that in mind too. I recommend logging EVERYTHING. Even on days you eat crap or go over or eat healthy and go over because you needed some more food that day. Logging kept me very aware of what…
  • Don't have a # in mind, though I'd like to be back to my pre preg weight (10 lbs to go) by about early Sept at the latest. That's about a lb a week so I think I can do that. My goal though after I am cleared next week at my 6 week, is to get some sort of exercise routine back in. It's going to be super hard given my work…
  • I agree - When I started thinking "There is no way I can do this" (21-22 hrs in) it turned out to be less than an hour from pushing, and pushing was about 40 mins. It was shortly after I asked the nurse, almost in tears - "how much longer??!"
  • If your insurance covers it I'd recommend just going to the next scan too. Better to be overly cautious than presumptive (even though this is why our health care costs are outrageous! I can't really comment though, we're probably going through 1/2 a million worth this year alone!). If it's not up to par by then they can…
  • Maybe if you give birth on the office floor your coworkers will finally believe that yes you are pregnant?!
  • This was the first thing they did for me pretty much right away - the first time they checked me after admitting me. It didn't hurt, per se, but it was not comfortable. If I were comparing it to something else I might have said it hurt, but comparing it to the rest of labor, it's nothing.
  • I actually walked a mile yesterday! Yay "exercise". We went to the park but it had just rained so all we could do is walk the path vs letting the boy climb on the playground.
  • aww Brittony! Cute! I can't believe her eyes are open in just about all of them! "Good luck" at your newborn apt - don't be worried about her healthy or your supply if she's lost weight - it's very normal for BF babies to go down before they go up. For an 8lb baby, expect around 8-9oz weight loss in the first week as…

  • I never let them bother me. I actually enjoyed it. Mine was 6lb 1oz, which is on the small side, but if I went to 40 weeks he'd have probably been closer to 6 1/2 which is only 1/2 lb smaller than my first. I wasn't expecting him to be much if at all more than 7. Plus, the MWs never expressed any sort of concern…
  • Hmmm... I don't worry about losing the stone. I have to take it in every 6 months to be checked for the warranty, so I know it's not going to fall out. I pretty much only take if off for harsh chemicals or spray paint. It's just a solitaire though so pretty indestructible outside the white gold. And my wedding band cost…
  • random non preg related post... just curious. I see so many posts about rings not coming on or off or going back on in the morning etc... how many people take their rings off daily? I guess if you wear additional jewelry/ rings you're already taking off it makes sense... and if you're taking that off anyway it'd be weird…
  • Julie, sometimes they can tell identical or not in advance, fraternal have 2 placentas, but identical might as well. Having 1 indicates identical but 2 could be either. (if I'm remembering correctly) Sometimes they don't know and can't tell even immediately at birth! Wow- 5 kids! Big surprise there?!!
  • Anne- ppps- there is no such thing as "strictly for you". You health is going to affect the process and your LOs well being overall, even if she's growing fine. Taking care of you is just as important so DO NOT feel selfish about doing it! You have to make it through preg, then labor, and then recovery and months if sleep…
  • Anne, I think another thing to consider and talk w your mw about is when during an induction they would start talking about a c/s. I wasnt dilated at all and barely effaced when the started me (and that was at 39 weeks, sonor " early"). I stalled for quite a while around 18 or 19 hours in and wasn't progressing and also…
  • Anne, you need to decide what is best for you, but I would suggest tying the daily Ivs before an induction. If you think you don't like needles... Wait for the induction! Big needle in your hand!! Induction is exhausting, you feel like crap the whole time. Mine included a migraine and lots of puking. Might have been the…
  • Bumping to stalk you guys
  • I didnt read them all so i might be duplicating, but get one that has the readout on the front, facing fwd - so if you put a plate etc on there and it hangs over the edge it's not covering the readout. Also - ditto on the "being able to zero out" after putting something on it point is critical as well. Then you can just…
  • I like lettuce with lots of tomatoes, onion, some crutons and shredded cheese and lemon juice as the dressing. I also really like chicken on it - unfortunately I prefer battered chicken, but overall it's still healthy. Ooh, sunflower seeds are great on this combo too!
  • i have some great news! Today I confirmed my 4 yr old for a spot in the state preschool! That means 5 days a week 8a to 1p FREE! That'd cost around $600-700 a month if we had to pay, and we've been paying $125 a month for 2 days a week for the last year. This will be a huge help to working full time with 2 kids. I will…
  • I agree. I am SURE that if I were induced with anyone other than the midwives that I would have gone in for a C/S. They never mentioned the word, but they did say things like "discuss our options" etc when I was not progressing further after about 18 hours. They did everything they could to get me through w/out a C/S. It…
  • occasionally being way under has no ill effect.
  • I was so annoyed at Gabriel this morning. (not really, but....) I had my new WIC apt (yay for having all the right paperwork this time!) and so I put him back to sleep around 8:30 and we got home at 11. He slept THE WHOLE TIME. (Which means Hubby got to sleep the whole time.) He had me up every 20 mins 11 -2, then at 3, 4,…
  • I'd say that the stroller one is probably calculated at a lower speed, or perhaps for a lower body weight. I'd just log walking, and log it on the conservative side, and if you do burn more with the stroller keep that unlogged as a "buffer" for error.
  • I think I'd prefer Depo or the arm implant, but they're both way out of my price range. Even the 4 periods a yr pills would be nice but they're expensive. I go with generic pills since I can get them like $10 a month. Considering my insurance expires right after my 6 week apt, I don't have a whole lot of choices (since…
  • I packed up all my "fat clothes" tonight for hubby to take to my mom when he picks up our son tomorrow. My SIL has a preg friend who gets them next. It made me a little sad, but I'm pretty sure it's just because theyre nice clothes and I liked wearing them compared to gym pants and a tshirt as is my normal wear. I have a…
  • Julie, there's no way I would ever want anyone other than PITAH (I don't like "dh" I call him pain in the *kitten* hubby) the delivery room w me! My mom and dad were there about 30 mins or an hour really early on for me. They drove all the way from Chicago and were just picking up my other son. They just hung out long…
  • I officially found 1 stretch mark yesterday. I thought I got away w none but not quite. It's tiny though. My boobs though have TONS most from first baby. That's what happens when milk comes in to a's!
  • Keep in mind holidays. You will prob get a bunch of 6mo clothes for Christmas. And if you don't mind hand me downs and garage sales there is tons of time to come across cute and cheap larger clothes!
