I'm 44. Decided enough was enough at the beginning of last year. Should have done this years ago!

Sounds like you're a man with a plan. That's all you need really - a plan and the commitment to stick to it. :flowerforyou:

When I started I didn't tell anyone. Once people started to notice the weight loss I told them I was trying to get a bit fitter and lose a few lbs. Once I found MFP things really clicked into place for me. I set a calorie goal and didn't exceed it, but no foods were forbidden. Now that I'm almost done the rules haven't…

This is so close to being me that it's a bit spooky! I'm 6' and 175. When I decided to lose weight I didn't know what number I'd be aiming for, so I just picked the top of the BMI range as a goal. Now I've passed that I'm working to get rid of my remaining belly fat, which is annoying me. My current goal isn't really…

My nieces, ages 3 & 6, both have iphones. They use them to watch cartoons and films when out and about - it's a great way to keep them from getting bored while in a restaurant, for example. Both phones are hand-me-downs from their parents. I'm not sure I'd spend £400 on a phone for a child, but I'm not going to criticise…

yes it's worth it. Obviously the intensity of your workout will determine how much you get out of it.

You do know that the BBC is paid for by the UK population through the TV licencing scheme? So effectively you're stealing from everyone in the UK who has a TV.

Olympic volleyball. Edited to add for my US chums - I have 24 dedicated BBCOlympic channels to choose from, along with HD and streaming through the BBC website. I love the BBC!

I am kicking my own *kitten* to look and feel better. If I ever get to the stage where my midriff is suitable for public viewing you're damn sure it'll be my profile pic!

6', 176lbs (that's 80Kg or 12st 8lb). Currently wearing UK size 12 jeans. Don't know if that's just vanity sizing from Next though!

I started swimming again after a break of many, many years. Equipment: swimsuit, goggles, cap. You might want to take a sports bottle of water too if you're planning on swimming laps continuously. There are quite a few resources online if you google, but I guess the best thing to do is start slowly and take plenty of…

You are only 24. You have a lot of years left in you. You owe it to yourself to be the best 'you' you can be. Decide to make a change. Make the right decisions one day at a time. Give yourself a break when you mess up. You CAN do this. You don't need surgery, magic pills, hypnosis or a diet that makes you so miserable you…

I've got your rain over here if you want it. Daily temps around 15C (60F) approx. Thanks for the lousy summer Jet Stream!

Don't psyche yourself out. If you managed today but feel like you have to repeat then repeat, but I don't think you really need to break it out quite as much as you are. I know someone who COULD NOT run continuously for 20 mins, no matter how many times they tried. That was until they wrote "don't stop, keep running" on…

I think many people who do c25k do it because they *need* a program to follow because they're not natural runners. That was certainly the case for me. I did c25k at the beginning of this year and just repeated days or weeks as needed until I got to the end. I now run 5k 2-3 times a week. I'm not fast (about 30 mins) but I…

In my experience you WILL be sore when you first start. Days 2-4 are the worst. Get a good warmup in and push on through anyway - it does pass. Have fun!

See, I thought this at first, then I agreed with the OP. If they're not using the benches to work out, but there are other free benches that THEY can use but the OP can't, then they should have had the good grace to MOVE!

Like you I didn't want anyone to see the fatty huffing and puffing her way round the neighbourhood so I started off exercising at home. Fortunately for me I've got a PS3 so I started with EA Sports Active 2 and worked my way through some of the programs on it. I also walked and walked and walked. Once I started to feel a…

HA! Spoke to the neighbour today, well he spoke to me while I was digging the garden. Neighbour: Are you digging a grave for me? Me: (inside I'm like 'WTF?') No, it's not deep enough. I wouldn't want anyone to find you...

The driving seat in my car isn't as comfortable as it used to be. It hasn't changed, but I'm now lacking the padding that used to be there.

with friends like those... I don't think I could stay friends with a 'friend' who was that insulting!

I think the most important step, before you DO anything, is to make up your mind that you are doing this. It's not something you want, it wouldn't "be nice", it's WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO. When you DECIDE to lose weight and you make it a priority in your life you don't let other things get in the way, and that's what makes…

yes, I got the email too. It's a bit off that they didn't give a reason for the cancellation. At a guess, they didn't have enough takers to make it profitable.

So it seems we need a standard reply to the "you're tall, you must be a lesbian since you can't get a guy" remarks. I'll start us off with "If all men were like you I'm pretty sure every woman would choose to be a lesbian". Who's got better?
