  • When I tried bulking (and failed! lol) I had a similar question and what I heard/read was: When bulking you want to add size, that means more calories and more carbs on the menu. Protein is very satisfyig so if you eat too much protein, chances are you won't be able to reach the amount you need. Protein is mainly used to…
  • Thank you so much for sharing this and I hope it'll be useful to other people as it was for me!I find that I binge I'd having too many days on low calorie intake so all that makes sense. Thanks!
  • If you're struggling to "control" what you eat, then you're not really allowing yourself leeway at maintenance. I sometimes struggle because I'd REALLY like to have a day where I sit down and go through a pack of biscuits...with what I eat, I COULD make that fit within my calories (but then I'd have to eat less...) Because…
  • And that's the danger - the last thing you want is to set yourself up for an eating disorder. You didn't get fat after a week or two, it would take years overeating to revert back to your old self. It takes 3500 calories for you to put on a pound of fat, remember? That's almost 2 days of eating. Just try to eat healthy,…
  • That's probably do to the restriction - when you allowed yourself a bit leeway then you wanted it all at once, maybe? I'd suggest not getting crazy about it and allow yourself to enjoy something everyday. Just make it part of your calories. I tend to have smaller meals so I won't freak out for having a biscuit or two…
  • Then increase your activity levels? I'm about 2000 calories which can seem like a lot but sometimes I feel I could do with more. But, because I tend to do at least 10.000 steps a day (and sometimes 20!), I end up being able to have an intake of 3000 cals...which I harldy ever manage to reach. So be more active and you'll…
  • All I got from that is - don't eat carbs. And I',m just here like
  • I think the main struggle for me is knowing when I'm full.I just don't seem to have that feeling of I'm stuffed that most people get. I can't trust my body for signals. I'd love to do mindful eating but I just don't seem to get that. Last month I had pasta with a friend and he was like wow I'm so stuffed and I just went...…
  • I think it's about finding out what kind of a dieter you are. I'm a volume eater...I LIKE eating and I eat loads. So I stick to vegetables because it'd harder to gain weight from vegetables than it'd be from eating rice and pasta. Being in maintenance however, means having room for maneuver. So if I spoil myself one day I…
  • Yeah I agree - I think the biggest lesson I had was when trying to bulk. I was eating SO much and still could hardly put on any weight. I took me about 4 months to gain 2 kg and I was constantly worrying that I'd balloon and wake up with all my weight loss efforts lost the next day. It ends up that I got frustrated with it…
  • Something I have experienced before is that when I don't eat enough I don't lose weight - if I do that constantly my body adapts to the low intake and I stop losing. I found that out going for recomp and trying eat more 2 weigh less
  • I find the same - but I have 2000 calories on a sedentary setting and find that after the day is gone I gain about 800 calories to eat so I don't get crazy over it. As long as most of the time I'm eating at maintenance or close to I don't fret. My main issue is milk - I LOVE milk and have a lot of it so I try to cut back…
  • Kinda like Lucy - London living here, but went to Uni in Wales. LOVE Cardiff <3
  • Checking in to make you all laugh. First of all - I hope you guys had an AMAZING halloween. Mine was quite fun..until things got real. I went out on the 31st with friends had a really good night out drinking and dancing and eating so many chocolates and sweets I was sick by the end of the night. Comes the 31st, I went back…
  • I have done something similar and a friend said "WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO COOK LIKE THIS?" haha Get a banana, freeze it for a few hours - take it out. Melt some coconut oil in a separate bowl with a teaspoon of cocoa - dash it on top of said banana. The melted coconut will freeze once it touches the banana and it's...AMAZING
  • I LOVE the chocolate decadence. It's just like a moist brownie and I SO want to find out how to make something similar. I mean it's probaby protein powder and something else, but what keeps it together making it so moist and yummy? And their protein shakes too! AND the cookies... It's all magic to me! And so so very…
  • My advice? You were hungry, skip those days and move on. The important thing is consistency and breaking from a diet every now and again is good to make you go back to it refreshed. You won't stick to a diet you don't enjoy, so having a breather every now and again is a positive thing to do. Just like you, I had a really…
  • That sounds great! I've been feeling really lethargic lately and have skipped the gym for week not sure if maybe not eating enough - I've also had a crazy sweet tooth craving (maybe because I got the flu haha) so I've been eating loads, constantly hungry but still feeling very tired. I'm a bit disappointed because I was…
  • I'm with you on the neverending bottomless pit. I kind of got tired of bulking it was a lot of effort and didn't really see a lot of improvement. Just on a constant binge haha Went back to eating at a lower end now to burn some fat before returning to maintenance.
  • I find that if I have "easy to chew" things around the house - I'll end up oversnacking. Even carrots - I can keep snacking on it all day, but I'm less restrictive with it since it's at least also nourishing. What works for me is to keep a fridge full of vegetables - so if I do snack then at least I won't feel so bad about…
  • I don't have any, but there are plenty of apps out there that you can use. I use one called FitProSport and mix and match things to do on my workout days. You can create your own routine from it and it shows you how to execute the programs with proper form. There are also some pre installed workouts within it :) Good luck!
  • Yeah I'm just like your wife, a friend similarly said she thinks she unconsciously tries to get rid of it so it's not around anymore. I think it may work like that for some of us. I totally agree with desserts too - it's like with coffee. I work in a coffee shop and our cakes and sweets are HUGE. I love coffee and it's…
  • I SO get you. I avoid having anything like that in the house because I WILL eat it. I have noticed I can have a incredible diet all day - until I get home and I'm tired. Then I'll eat and won't notice I'm full till half the fridge is empty  lol I JUST WISH supermarkets would make single serve packets - packets of…
  • Just to add to this - I've been maintaining for more than 2 years now and I'll share some of my experience along the way. You're right that when something becomes a habit, it becomes natural. However, since I'm hungry a lot one of my strategies has always been to load up on veggies - the problem with that? It's hard to get…
  • It would base it on the activity. So fitbit can tell when you're doing something extraneous (like a run for example). You'd have to log those manually on the app though I think to make it more accurate it wouldn't be done automatically.
  • I've been managing by eating mostly greens and fruit since it's low calorie so it's hard to overdo even when you do (I mean, 3500 calories extra - even from fruit alone would take a LOT of effort!). I just try to remain active but it's a bit harder on days when I'm off work (like tomorrow). But it's got to be done, I…
  • Mine doesn't have a camera icon either... Anyway, Bento from the day before yesterday And today's
  • I'm quite pleased with mine too though some of the comments here made me want the garmin. But then again, I'd hate the chest wrap I think - it'd be yet another thing to carry to the gym. I think you won't regret your decision. There's a group on mfp too for fitbit users so it kinda is a cult haha Welcome!
  • I don't log it - I let it do it all by itself and it is on sedentary setting. Like I said MFP set my maintenance calories on sedentary to 2400 :) And my mum said the same thing - when I told her how hungry I felt most of the time (specially in the beginning) she laughed and said "AHA! Now you know what WE go through on a…
  • How do you guys post images from the app? Is it possible?
