Sucrose is a disacaride made up of one glucose and one FRUCTOSE with a weak oxygen bond between them. Glucose is the sugar that all living things use as their primary source of energy. Fructose has to either be broken down by the benificial bacteria in your gut (the only way it gets that far is if it's bound) or in your…

Yes, but how quickly they turn into a sugar (glucose) is HUGELY important. Not to mention that free Fructose, like that in HFCS easily enters your blood and has to be broken down by your liver...like a poison or alcohol. How easy is it to stay calorie negative when what you're eating is sending signals to your brain that…

Sugar in fruit is not bad, since it is bound with the fiber in the fruit. Refined sugar is bad, and HFCS is worse. The easier it is for the sugar to enter your system, the worse it is for you.

Congrats!!! Just so you're not surprised, it WILL NOT continue at this same rate. You're body will start to adapt to the new reality, and then you'll have to change something else (add exercise???). If it does continue for more than the next 2 weeks, please go back to your Dr. and get a little more guidance. You can do as…

When I trained for the Marine Corps Marathon (it's in Oct so the training is all through the summer) the choices were to run in the morning when it's cooler but more humid, or in the late evening when it's hotter but less humid. I always opted for the early runs since I HATE the heat...:P You can try and run on a treadmil,…

Busy, busy, busy...but you know that song. Gymnastics, Girl Scouts, poopy diapers, work, workouts, walk the dog, do the dishes...hey why aren't there any clean clothes? Oh yeah...someone actually has to do the laundry too...more poopy diapers, laughter, hugs, stories, bed...and alarm clock to start it all over…

Make sure you're brutally honest with your diet assesment and try to stay away from white flour items (pasta the night before the race would be fine, but sub in veggies for most of the rest). Make sure you're not replacing the majority of those calories you burn on the run (again be brutal and double/triple check the…

Last night was awesome...60 minutes on the bike with 3x8 minutes of moderate-hard intervals and then to stop the begging I jumped right into P90X Chest & Back, Ab ripper X with my 2 girls. They so wanted to do it...and the 5 yr old got bored (who'd have guessed) but she did do a lot of exercises. All that gymnastics does…

If you're going to have Chocolate, make sure it's dark chocolate (60% cocoa or greater). It will be a little more bitter than you might be used to, but it is MUCH healtier for you. If you can fid it with a little natural flavoring (orange, mint, chili peppers[my fav]) you'll start to never miss the sickly sweet milk…

Good swim in the pool today. Been able to stick to the eating plan. Now to make sure I hit the bike hard tonight, and this will go down as an AWESOME day! Rock on my brothers and sisters!

Do the collarbone test. If the "cold" is above the collarbone, you should be fine to exercise but you might want to go a little easier. If the "cold" is below the collarbone, then you will want to rest until it's clear. BUT, always listen to your body. If you do try to work out and feel like crud, cut it short and get some…

Man I burned some calories today...shivering my butt off. I guess there are some downsides to working in the construction industry...:P Other than that it's a rest day, so it'll be nice to take it easy and not have to worry about squeezing in a workout. "Back to work! Back to work! Work, work, work, work! Work, work!"
-
Don't lift or twist....ride a bike or walk...do something that avoids the motions that irritate it. You'll be fine in a couple days.
-
AWESOME JOB! You look so much healthier!

Oh Captain, my Captain! Thanks for always having the right words to lift a friend when we're down. 30 minutes hard on the bike trainer down, and 30 minutes of weights scheduled for later. Always start the week off with a BANG! Hope you're little family is doing well.

Well put sir.

Balance it out with items high in potassium. So long long as those 2 minerals are in balance, you'll be fine. It has to do with the transfer of fluids into and out of your cells

LOSE! I had planned to this year, but I swear to Heaven and Earth that I will get below 200 lbs next year. If I have to chop my stupid belly right off my body I will do it!!! (not seriously going to chop anything off...;P)

Polar actually makes a sports bra that will integrate with the chest strap. Might be worth checking into it if you're serious.

Instead of going outside to walk 2-3 times a day, just go walk those 2 flights of stairs for a few minutes 2-3 times a day. Do whatever you can, every little bit helps. God Bless.

The issue becomes how long can you sustain the higher heart rate? You burn more calories at the higher HR, but you can't maintain it as long. Plus at that higher rate, the majority of the calories you burn will be muscle glycogen and blood/liver glucose (your body's stores of blood sugar). At the lower HR your body can…

How long will you be on the medication? If you know it is a side effect, pay closer attention to what you are eating too. Then go back and ask yourself...Do I really need this medication? Could you aleviate the condition by some other means? Do some research and see if there are any alternatives. Good luck!

http://www.uctv.tv/search-details.aspx?showID=16717 A very good use of about 50 minutes of your time. ALWAYS have your carbs with fiber!
-
If it's sugar in it's natural form, ie still coupled with the natural fiber, you are ok. If it's hidden sugar added to processed foods, that contains little or no fiber, that is very not good. Always have your carbs with fiber (unless it's during the middle of a hard workout when you need quick sugar, then go for simple…
