Intermittent Fasting is not anorexia. You still eat your allotted calories per day/week, you just eat them in a scheduled window instead of grazing throughout the day. Please read up on these things before you make blanket statements.

How many calories per day are you eating? What kinds of foods do your husband and children eat? If you buy the groceries in the house, you can always sub in healthier choices for cooking with, while still keeping the 'unhealthy' foods. Check out skinnytaste.com, and there are a bunch of other recipe sites that taste like…

If you open your diary, it'll be easier to give you tips on how to make your meals bulkier.

These sound good, I need to start using dry beans instead of canned. So much sodium in the cans... :(

MFP has a built in deficit -- if you work out, you need to eat back the calories so that you don't go FURTHER into deficit. Back2Baasic, that was an awesome explanation!!

Horde or Alliance?

I measure and weigh things that are bigger on calories. Things like lettuce/peppers etc. I eyeball, because being a bit over or under on my guesstimates won't make a big difference.
-
I try to stay under 120 carbs and around 140g of protein, but I watch my carbs because my family has a SUPER HIGH diabetes rate, and I've been told that I need to by doctors. Right now my macros are 40/30/30 p/c/f.

Is the potato/banana necessary, or would it work without it?

What mini goals have you set for yourself and how does this help you stay on track? 10 lb increments in my head. I inwardly/outwardly celebrate every 10 lbs gone -- if 10 lbs is too large a mini goal, try for 5! Which areas of your fitness journey do you find it easiest and hardest to stick to? Working out is the tough one…

Wow, you look AWESOME, man!

I weigh for myself every day, but I only log it in MFP once a week. I like to see how it fluctuates, and I'm tracking it on a spreadsheet so that I get an idea of how everything affects those daily fluctuations.
-
Yeah, that calorie count sounds right to me.
-
What are you set to lose per week, and are those the last 20 lbs before your goal weight?

I second the idea of doing MFP together. I would probably introduce her to this site. If it clicks for her, then awesome! If not, then I wouldn't push the matter. Losing weight and getting healthy have to come from within. External motivators can work for a while, but if the person really doesn't feel motivated about it…

I like soy, because it's less sugar and more protein than the almond milk that I've found.
-
You should open your diary so we can take a look for a better idea. I second the thought of going to your doctor, as well.

I have a Canon t3i, I'm jealooooous of the 5D that you've got. I've been wanting one forever, but it's out of my price range. It has absolutely stunning video.

Exactly this. I drink a protein shake (with some added ingredients) as a breakfast shake in the morning. Quick and easy, and the protein keeps me full until lunch time.
-
It's really too bad that MFP doesn't have a 'like' button...
-
Ohh, that's a really good idea. Then I won't feel as self-conscious, even though people aren't actually looking at me.
-
Ahaha, thank you for this! I really need to remember that no one cares.

Unfortunately I used the free session when I first signed up for the gym about a year ago, before I really got serious about changing the way I lived. They didn't show me any free weight stuff, or really anything about the equipment at all. They just kind of hounded into me that I was overweight and that I needed to pay…

Thanks for the link, I found random little animated gif's telling me how to do the moves, but having videos is a good idea.
-
You look awesome, man! Great work!

Smaller more frequent meals don't do anything. You can eat your entire day's worth of calories within a two hour span of the day if you want, and be perfectly fine, ie. intermittent fasting.

As long as you don't get depressed by the fluctuations, I don't see any reason not to weigh daily. I only log it once a week (occasionally twice, but usually only Monday mornings), but I weigh daily. It gives me a good idea of how water/sodium/other things affect my weight. Surprisingly, even the amount of sleep that I get…

It's net, so you would eat back your exercise calories so that your total net is 1500.
