I log ALL beverages, most of them are in the food database anyway. I drink a lot of coffee and the milk adds significant (200+) calories to my day.
-
225 definitely! I hate the fact that MFP doesn't correct for this. I log NET workout burn, so I take what my HRM says and subtract the BMR for the timeperiod I exercised, and then log that into MFP.

You are both drama queens.

Bah humbug. :p

How come only some of us have a like button???
-
Bwahaha. Santa is bringing me a dictionary this year :(
-
Where is this like button? All I see are "Quote", "Reply" and "Report".

Bmi is supposed to be used for populations not individuals. But it is an ok measure so long as you aren't a special snowflake.
-
thanks all :) I understand the tdee method but these people are eating 1000 cals and then jogging for an hour and logging it as 1 cal. I suspect ed :(
-
I have a similar issue - but with people who eat 1000 cals and log an hour of jogging in at one calorie... I know it is so it doesn't make their net APPEAR low, but the reality is that they are netting 400 cals. It is ridiculous. I don't even question them anymore, I just delete them from my FL.

Salty nachos = water weight gain. I had thai for tea last night and gained 0.5 kg. I typically take three days to lose the water weight. Also if you previously went light on carbs your body is storing water and glycogen.
-
OK thanks everyone. I will remove the first two weeks, and perhaps recalculate it as if 75% fat / 25% LBM was lost. You guys were really helpful :)
-
FIBRE Oh man... you are going to be passing bricks.

Your menstrual cycle could be affecting your weight loss.
-
Yes it is very normal. There is fluid in the muscles that are being used in a new way - it is to promote healing. I gained 2 kgs when I started lifting, and it was gone in 2 weeks, plus some weight loss. Don't stress :) you are doing the right thing and eventually it shows on the scales.

How true!
-
Congratulations. You look fantastic!
-
Holy freaking amazeballs!!! Congratulations and I hope you are darn proud of yourself.

Standing doesn't burn many cals at all because our bodies are so well adapted to it. It is included in a sedentary lifestyle tdee calc.

I agree that I would have liked to see a proper study, but it is still a pretty interesting guideline when you see only slightly overweight people with ridiculous deficits. By the way - does it matter that fat is not the only fuel source when we are talking about being in deficit for the day? The whole point is to work out…

He was an amazing man and will be forever admired, for good reasons. To the haters - eff off. It is a sign of a very weak moral fabric to piss on a dead man's legacy.

There was a study done (someone after me will post it, I am sure) that worked out that body fat can only contribute about 30 calories of fuel, per day per pound of excess fat. So if you only have (say) 20 lbs of excess body fat, that means you can only get 600 calories from fat to fuel your body each day. Any deficit…

I am a 5'7 woman, 160 lbs, and a moderate-vigorous half hour ride burns 230 cals (by my HRM). It seems to correlate well to my weight loss - that is, I lose what I expect to lose when I log 230 cals per half hour of stationary bike riding. Hope that helps somewhat. YMMV

Bob has a hot body. Pity he isn't the sharpest pencil in the pencil case. And he is gay so I'll have to find a new hunk of meat to fantasize about.
-
Thanks :) it feels great.
-
Well done!
-
It can also be due to sodium retention and glycogen storage.
-
You did well to last that long! It is OK to enjoy a blow out now and then. If it makes you feel better, most of your weight gain will be from your body storing glycogen and sodium with water :). You should shed that fairly quickly. Lots of water and some light exercise will see it gone. Don't be too hard on yourself!
