In general, restaurant proportions are grossly oversized. If you REALLY want to save cals, cook at home. Invite a few friends over and have a party. Even better if the friends like to cook. :)

AFTER... my body can't handle food when I first wake up -- it'll come right back up, and that's before I even bother to exercise. I'm not really much of a breakfast person either. Usually only 2 meals a day.

Something I've not seen mentioned yet is that meat was far more expensive in the 1970s than it was today. The idea of having meat with every meal, particularly beef, was completely unheard of.
