  • That's brilliant :)
  • Definitely don't give up! Its a journey and its so different for every person. I'm definitely no expert, but your target sounds low to me if you're getting that much activity and not eating those calories. I'm around 230 lbs and my target is 1720/day. If I workout 3 times a week and don't eat those back I'll lose 1-2 lbs a…
  • I think its great that you've recommitted and found the motivation to get going again, but I have to agree... a juice fast isn't a healthy, sustainable way to lose those last 10. If you're struggling making healthy choices, just pick one thing to focus on. Could be swapping for a healthier breakfast in the morning,…
  • Some of my go-to things that I don't want to be without... Oatmeal (instant oatmeal, bob's red mill oat bran, and Kashi go lean honey) Fiber one bars Belvita biscuits Greek yogurt (80 or 100 calorie options) Frozen berries Banana vitatops Peanut butter Microwave popcorn Light cheese Sweet potatoes Brown Rice Chicken Salmon…
  • You are all great inspiration!! For me its the moments when I catch myself in the mirror and have to look twice to make sure its still me :) Long way to go but its the little victories like that, like having others around me tell me that I've inspired them to get started, and fitting into some clothes I haven't put on in…
  • I'm in a little different situation where I need to focus on losing weight and fat to get healthier, but I have to say that when I hear women talking about wanting to add some weight and gain muscle, I find it so inspirational. I hope to get to the point where I'm at the weight/size I want to be and can focus more on…
  • I had a great one a few weeks back... I was meeting a friend for a drink after work. I got there first and grabbed a table and my back was to the door. She said when she first came in she didn't think I was there. She saw me sitting there and thought "that looks like Kim but that girl is smaller". Too cool :)
  • Congratulations! What a fabulous transformation! You should be so proud of yourself. You can see such a difference in your body and your confidence in the pictures :) Don't short change yourself... there is nothing little about 100 lbs. What an inspiration you are! I totally understand the photos. I actually did a before…
  • I lost 68 lbs in a year on WW (their first version of the points program). Unfortunately I've gained it all back plus, but that's on me. I do think that after following the WW program on and off for so long, it got pretty stale for me. Its a great program though, easy to follow, puts more emphasis on healthy foods than…
  • Is 30 day shred the Jillian Michael's program? I keep hearing about it - sounds good. Could a beginner do it or is it for people who are already pretty fit?
  • I've been thinking about getting one of these too so thanks for the feedback! I doubt I'll pick up most of the moves, but will be fun to try in the privacy of my living room :) I've heard its a fantastic calorie burn.
  • I'd echo what many others said... you have to find something that works well for you - often enough to monitor how you're doing and get some feedback, but not so often that it becomes obsessive. For me, I jump on almost every morning but I only record once a week on Sat or Sun. I try not to get too wrapped up in the daily…
  • I'm still pretty new to all of it, but I really think its different for each person. For me, if I am eating all of my calories and I burn <200, I don't use them unless I'm really hungry for some reason. If I have a much bigger burn like 300-500, then I'll use some of them so that my net calories don't go too low. I think…
  • The only thing that makes me a little nervous is the artificial sweetener. I try not to have more than one drink a day w/ that stuff. But who knows... for every article you find saying its not good and causes problems, you'll find one that says its fine!
  • Great topic - thanks for posting! I have only been doing cardio and want to start building and defining muscle so this is really helpful.
  • These are so motivating to read :) I love these little things, scale aside, that make you feel like a million bucks! I had a couple recently. Over the xmas break I went shopping because my work pants were getting a little baggy. I expected to be in the next size down but to my surprise (YIPPIE!) I skipped right over that…
  • There are some amazing recipes here... cant wait to try them!
  • Ok... apparently this was my moment to cry tonight :) I loved reading what you wrote. Such powerful words... CONFIDENT and CAPABLE! You are in total control of this journey and I can tell just from knowing you this short couple of weeks that you are going to do this and be everything that you want to be. I agree - for some…
  • I did Weight Watchers points programs for years where fruits and veggies were 'free' so its been hard getting used to counting them, but in terms of the calories they sure are a bargain!
  • I run into the same thing at work... not people telling me I dont need to diet, but people constantly trying to get me to indulge in things that I dont need. I really think its because they plan on eating it, and it makes them feel better and less guilty if they get others to join in. So irritating!
  • I still have 100 to go, but for right now focused on the first 50. And really committed to doing it in a healthy, realistic way that I know I can stick with. I really believe that its more about changing habits than just hitting a target number of calories. Calorie counting is a great place to start and gives lots of…
  • Yay! That's a great success!
  • I havent lost enough this time around to really comment, but I can tell you that when I originally lost my weight and got to goal I had the same issue. It is amazing how much your mind can mess with you, and how distorted your body image can be. I had lost 68 lbs on WW about 10 years ago, going from size 24 to size 10/12.…
  • I have two favorite eggplant recipes... I cut the eggplant lengthwise and roast it in the oven and then use those pieces in place of lasagna noodles and make a fantastic eggplant lasagna with 1/2 pkg lean ground turkey, crushed tomatoes, mushrooms and mozzarella. Its so good and very easy! I dont use a recipe. I originally…
  • Love it :) I'm terrified of the gym so I'm starting at home until I'm a little more confident. I do have to say though... I was recently traveling and had promised myself I would use the hotel workout room at least twice. The first night, about 15 minutes into my walk a tiny, gorgeous woman jumped on the treadmill beside…
  • One other quick grab and go for the car... I buy the frozen vitatop muffin tops which are good protein and great fiber, usually banana nut or chocolate. I defrost and warm one in the microwave and then top w/ 1 Tbsp peanut butter. It gets all warm and melted and its so good on the go!
  • Most days I try to have oatmeal and yogurt and fruit but for the days I know I'm jammed w/ meetings or traveling I grab a pack of the Belvita breakfast biscuits/crackers or a fiber one bar (the original 150 cal type) and a small yogurt and a water.
  • This is one of my favorite recipes and only ~400 cal. I added a ton of extra veggies. If I have the calories I add brown rice or lo mein noodles, but its great on its own. Chinese Beef with Broccoli - http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/chinese-beef-with-broccoli-recipe/index.html
  • I've never tried making my own so anxious to try one of these recipes, but my favorite store bought brand is al fresco. I love the chicken, basil meatballs, the italian chicken sausage and the apple chicken sausge.
  • Sounds like you have some great ideas already - trying to fit in some activity during the day or getting of the subway a stop earlier, but the one thing I would add is not to discount the importance of sleep when you're trying to lose weight. Even one night a week under 6-7 hours can really mess with your metabolism and…
