tanning beds in Australia have just about been made illegal (some states have done so and others are soon to follow) due to it being proven they cause skin cancer. I would advise to flick the whole idea of tanning beds and go for a spray tan instead.

try a simple calf stretch, stand on a step or sloping ground with your toes at the top and let your heels drop. Stretch for a good minute or so. And in general - get off heels, all they are doing are shortening your calf muscles and making them tighter to run.

go BEYOND seeing a doctor. Many doctors don't have the knowledge to correct or work with your kind of injury. See a physiotherapist or, even better, an exercise physiologist. I have two personal trainers in my gym who specialise in injury rehab and strengthening. THEY are the kind of people you need to be talking to. I…

jump on board with my friend challenge :) I am challenging all of my friends to burn AT LEAST 200 calories EVERY DAY. That is a simple walk for most people. When 50% of my friends can burn 200 calories or more each 24 hour period, then I'll up the number of calories. We're currently at 35%. Feel free to join in on my…

there could be heaps of advice to help on your plateau, and without knowing you or seeing your diary for exercise or food it is hard to tell. I'm in Sydney too, at Homebush, give me a yell if you want to friend me and I'm happy to try and help :)

I'm 72kg (158.4lb) and am at a comfortable weight, but am looking to very slowly drop to 68kg ready to compete in a 25km trail run in June, as this will allow me to compete better. After the race, I'm hoping to stay around 70kg. I'm about 5'10" also, but anything under 68kg will be too low for me, I'm not happy being under…

without being able to see anything about you (no information, no photo, no diary) nobody on this site is able to help you. You may be overweight, underweight, exercising a lot, not enough - without providing more information on yourself on this site all you will be able to get back from this kind of post is sympathy. Do…

There are HEAPS of things to try!! 1) increase your protein for breakfast 2) change your style of exercise 3) try a massive day of endurance exercise 4) drink twice as much water 5) drop your carbs to just high quality ones (whole foods, fruit and veg) and increase protein 6) cut back your sugar And yes, get rid of your…

I presume you've been to an exercise physiologist or similar to make sure that theres not anything you can do I help your back? I know some people have chronic issues that can't be helped, but there are way too many who have problems that CAN be helped. I've had sciatica from tight hamstrings and solved the problem with…

Happy to push you if you want! Warning, my expectations are high lol :)

since finding this site just over a year ago I have been religiously logging my food and more importantly exercise whilst in weight loss mode. It has helped me off plateaus and kept me accountable. My husband, who was struggling to lose the last 20 odd kgs had almost given up, but with strict logging on this site he has…

Nice! I ran my first half last year, didnt think I had anywhere near the time to train for it but put in the hard yards. In February I joined here, could hardly run more than a km. By the event (beginning of July) I not only completed the half but got it in my goal time of less than 2 hours. I've been away from running a…

I'm mantaining :) My main reason to be here is to keep me motivated with training and push myself hard by using what my friends do as an example and to keep setting an example to them

my legs are the last place to lose weight. But I am toning them up with running and cycling. Lunges and squats will only take you so far, use cardio exercise to work on them more, even a cross trainer or rower will help and give you a great cardio burn at the same time.

I think you've completely missed the point. This post was to suggest a different kind of training (endurance) to those who feel they have tried everything. My use of the member was to give an example of someone who felt that way.

Sydney as well, and there are heaps of us here!

Put her on here. Send her my way. My husband plateaued badly and after I got him to take this site seriously he's lost another 10kg or so. Happy to help sort her out ;)

Congratulations. That's twice my bodyweight that you have lost. YOU are the one of the reasons so many people here gain the confidence to up the ante and give this a real go. Even though I have never been in your position you inspire those of us to better ourselves and achieve more than what we are achieving now. Not only…

LOVE this idea! I run a gym in Sydney and am always looking for events to involve members, from simple walks to tough events, including a crossfit challenge we are running as an inter-gym comp. The Tough Mudder is on my radar but not something that I am fit enough to do at this stage, but I have members who are capable and…

happy to swap!! So humid here in Sydney it's almost unbearable to run ... I'd give anything to be back in Moscow in the minus 20s!!!

load up on as many fruits and vegetables as you can. assess your breakfast - is it high protein? high protein breakfast will normally make you fuller for longer are you eating lots of low quality carbs (crap, essentially)? food manufacturers deliberately manufacture this kind of food so you crave more of it. how often are…

join a team! Team sports don't feel like exercise, you are working together with likeminded others and you will probably feel the obligation to go and not let your teammates down! Try something you never thought you could do, like roller derby, indoor soccer. Even find something obscure like dragon boat racing or a kite…

yep, I feel you! The humidity here in Sydney is unbearable during the day for running. running earlier is great - pick days that are raining!! Perhaps raise the issue with the gym, I actually manage a gym and it is high priority for me to get the air conditioning right on days that are hot, to the extent that I only feel…

where in russia are you from? Ive travelled to Moscow a couple of times, St Petersberg, Kazan and Ekatarinberg. we have friends close to fresbo that we have stayed with before!

Just going for 1000km in 2012 here :) Various events booked and planned, the big one is a 25km trail in June. Hoping to tackle the Sydney half as a training run up in May. But I also adventure race, mountainbike and road cycle :)
