I just realized, it's what I'm wearing in my profile pic <

Athleta!! My favorites are the relay capris. Love.

Why are you eating so little?
-
Yes, like I said, not a doctor ;) but it is generally understood now (I hope!) that the low fat craze from the 80s and 90s was a huge mistake and that fats are very good for us. As long as your fats are coming from good sources--nuts, avocado, olive oil, even some dairy--it keeps you full longer and is not bad for you at…

Okay, honestly you are not eating that high fat of a diet. I'm not a doctor, but I don't 'think you are anywhere near where you need to be worried about your heart (and there is evidence now coming to light that a diet high in good fats sn't actually bad for your heart). My diary is open and you are welcome to take a look.…

Yes, I agree that daily (or every few days, which is what I do) is just fine. I don't know why that would make you obsess more than weekly, or any other time you decide to do it. When I weighed myself weekly, I would get all bent out of shape the day before. WHAT IF I DIDN'T LOSE OMG!?!?! Now I just get on the scale,…

Your diary isn't open.

Absolutely not true. If you are eating at a deficit, you don't actually have to exercise at all. But if you want to exercise to help weight loss along, to get more fit and healthy, you do not need to carve out an hour a day. What's more important is a good variety of exercises. Cardio that you enjoy, some weight training,…

40 lbs in a year? It's possible, yes. You'd need to be pretty consistent with the 1 lb weekly weight loss, which gets harder the closer you get to your goal.

I ate close to 500 calories for breakfast this morning. HCG is dangerous. I know this thread is old, but OP, I hope you were able to receive some help and guidance.

Congrats! My sons are Liam and Quinn. If you don't want super popular, though, I wouldn't use Liam. It has skyrocketed in popularity over the past decade. When we named my son Liam (he is 10.5 now) the name was about #140 on the social security names list. Now it is it the top ten. I would still name him that, but just…

highly unlikely on such an enormous calorie deficit. ETA--in reading further, I see this was already pointed out, so I'll just say +1 to that!

Protein really does make you feel more full! I have recently cut out grains (not saying you or anyone else has to do this) and have upped my protein/fats and it's pretty amazing how much more full I am between meals. Try a couple eggs, or an egg and 1/2 cup egg whites with your breakfast. Do a scramble with some ham and a…

Why not? I wouldn't do it without knowing what you are doing and what your goals are, but it's certainly fine to change the ratio of your macro goals to be in line with your overall goals. I've been doing it for quite a while.

my god.

I take it off after my cool down/stretching (which I absolutely consider part of the workout).

Good plan! Have fun! :)

I have the select techs, but yeah, they were pretty pricey. I don't know what your budget is like, but $34 is pretty inexpensive and if you have never lifted before, you probably won't be getting above 20 lbs for a while on CLX. That said, eventually you might want to increase your weights for things like squats, but you…

It's not that they're bad; it's that rows, bench, OHP, even the deads some will help you accomplish the same thing.
-
I have always lifted heavy while on a deficit (though not a huge one) and I have always, always gained strength. I've done NROLFW and Stronglifts--both are great, both will help you increase your strength. In addition, don't just count your calories. Pay attention to your macros. Try to get 1 gram of protein per pound of…

I would do one of two things. I would either pick up a copy of New Rules of Lifting for Women and follow that program. Or, I would concentrate almost entirely on compound lifts. Squats, deads, OHP, bench, rows. You don't have to follow Stronglifts, but it's a good program in terms of the exercises you are supposed to do.…

I get my protein from the following sources: lean meat/fish (5-6 oz/serving) greek yogurt milk protein shakes and bars (watch out for sugar) cottage cheese eggs, egg whites cheese, nuts (not the highest sources but still okay) Some people say you should eat a gram of protein per lb of body weight; others say it is a gram…

My favorite high calorie burn workouts are Turbo Fire and Les Mills Combat. But I work very, very hard doing them; if you take it easy, you won't burn as much. The high burns come from high intensity.

two things. 1. when did you switch to eating 20% under your tdee? it can take a few weeks to see change. 2. why not consider calculating your tdee based on your exercise level and try eating that instead, rather than calculating your exercise cals every day? i find it's easier that way (it's how i do it). i just work out 5…

At 165 lbs with a goal weight of 150, you don't have very much to lose, so you may want to lower your goal to a 1 lb/week loss. When you are closer to goal, your body wants to hold on to the extra weight. You may have more success with a smaller calorie deficit, taking a few extra weeks to lose the weight instead of trying…

Hooray for lifting weights!! I honestly think 15-20 min of cardio if you are lifting is probably good--but what kind of cardio are you doing? if it's steady state, I would switch to HIIT.
-
You can't really target an area like that. You can strengthen your core/ab muscles by doing body weight exercises, crunches, plank, etc but it won't spot reduce. I know this is the fitness section, but there's a good saying--"abs are made in the kitchen." You need to do cardio to lose fat, but there's nothing wrong with…

I am confused. As a woman, you will not bulk up unless you are eating at a huge caloric surplus AND taking testosterone. I can lift pretty heavy doing squats, deads, bench, whatever, and I am not overly muscled and bulky. Neither are any of my friends who are serious lifters. They have muscle definition and look great, not…

Do not eat fewer than 1200 calories. What kind of foods are you eating? OP--you need to give more info. How much weight are you trying to lose? How many calories are you eating? Are you exercising?

Ditto this! I like to look good when i work out. Not trying to impress anyone, but it's motivating to wear clothes that fit and make me look decent.
