You really aren't going to gain very much muscle on a program like 30 day shred...sorry. You need a dedicated lifting program. Some people like free weights in the gym (my personal choice); I have several friends who have done the beachbody Chalene Extreme DVDs and loved the program (I did most of it, but did not love it).…

One thing I do is saute vegetables or chicken in olive oil. Half a tablespoon is plenty and will give you lots of healthy fats. Nuts are also high in healthy fats, too. A serving of almonds works great! I don't know what your calorie goals are, but a serving of cheese (usually 1 oz) and a small amount of dark chocolate are…

I do 3-4 days of cardio, usually 30-60 min if it's just a cardio day but 20 of a HIIT if I'm piggybacking on a weight training day.

I have done both New Rules and Stronglifts 5x5 and while both programs are really good, Stonglifts is better if you don't want to bring a book w/you. However, you should bring a notebook or something to write down your weights and number of reps you completed in each set so you can progress accordingly. The SL exercises…

I try to net at least 1200, so it depends on how much I work out. Some days 1400-1500 is fine; other days I eat around 1800. I don't have a lot to lose, but would like to drop a few more pounds.

My husband really likes DDP's yoga program. My personal favorite is Turbo Fire.

This is definitely the range for 5'6". I'm that height and am very happy in the mid 140s--I'm a little higher than that now, but am very muscular (I do have fat to lose, though!). If I can get back to 145, will reassess when I'm there as to whether or not I'd like to go lower.

I'm trying! :)

I also aim for at least 1g of protein per pound of lean body mass (often I eat more). I changed my ratios to 45% carbs/30% protein/25% fat. I'm at about 120 lbs of lean body mass and eat at least that in protein grams a day--actually am in the 130s most of the time.

Thank you!! I promise not to freak if the scale goes the wrong way. ;) And you know, it's funny you said that about the fuel, because that is EXACTLY how I have been thinking of it recently!! When I did my week or 2 at 1300 calories, my workouts totally sucked. I just didn't have enough energy. When I bumped it back up…

Hey there!!!

Holy cow. You guys are totally full of awesome. I figured all this out, and hope I did it correctly! I exercise 6 days a week, but I don't know if I should call it "hard" or not so I went in between the 3 - 5 days of moderate exercise and the 6 days of hard (multiplied by 1.6). I do strength training, intervals, and high…

I also use it in my protein shakes. It's really good!

Oh wow. This thread is amazing. I am learning so much! I could really use some help., though. . . I appear to be kind of stuck at around 160. I am 5'6" and really rather muscular (I wear a US size 8) but I definitely have flab that needs to go. ;) I would like to lose 15 lbs and continue to tone up. I do weights/strength…

I'm 5'6 and eat around 1500 calories a day, maybe a little less. I had lowered my cals to 1300 to try to jump start some loss, and it did work, but I was pretty sluggish and really just felt bad, so I've taken it up to between 1400-1500 and am seeing how I feel this week (so far, better). I am doing a hybrid of Chalene…

I'm in week 11 right now. I am not weighting myself until I'm done with the program, but regardless of what I've lost, I feel awesome. I have never felt this fit and in such great shape. No matter what the scale says, I am so pleased with how much my fitness level has soared. I really, really love Turbo Fire!
-
You look so much more toned, and tighter all around. Wonderful results! I finished week 8 myself on Friday and just started week 9 today. :) Congratulations on a job well done and enjoy crushing these last 4 weeks--I know I'm planning to!!!
-
You look simply fantastic! Wonderful, wonderful job!
-
NICE JOB!! You are looking great!! I do Turbo Fire too (AND LOVE IT). Keep up the awesome work--see you at the finish line! :)
-
I see a *huge* difference!! Way to go--keep up the great work! 30 lbs is awesome!!!
-
75-95 is really not that high! I changed mine manually to 40/30/30 and routinely eat over 100g. Usually between 95 - 120g.
-
I definitely can see a difference! Keep up the good work! PS--I am also one month in to TF. Just started week 5 today! :D

When I weigh myself, I become a slave to the scale, so I am not doing it. :) I am about to start week 5 of Turbo Fire, and when I finish the first main part (it's 12 weeks) I will weigh myself, mostly out of curiosity. I take measurements and pictures, and my clothes already are fitting better, so that's what I'm using to…

I do six days a week, actually. I'm doing Turbo Fire. Sunday through Thursday are Turbo Fire workouts from the schedule. Friday I do a circuit training class. Saturday I rest. :)

Good for you!!!

I have a piece of dark chocolate daily.. Just account for it, stay in your calorie range, eat well balanced meals and it's totally fine!

Hi! I've taken several different antidepressants/anti-anxiety meds in the past. None of them have really affected my weight much if I am paying attention to calories and exercising. I've been on Paxil, Zoloft, and now Celexa. If you need to take a medication, i would not let fear of weight gain stop you. First of all,…

Yup. I don't track on Saturdays. I still eat normal breakfasts and lunches, but I usually have something more gluttonous for dinner and dessert ;) and often a little wine. I don't stuff everything around me into my mouth, but I am a little more lax. It makes tracking during the week easier, and I feel better knowing I can…
