It depends on how hard you go at it. Obviously we're not all crazy body builder guys that can keep up and do it! If you try really hard and push yourself and don't stop until the breaks (grey bars) show up than you'll definitely burn more calories. Yes! I tried doing the series with my sister about a year ago, but I found it to hard (I was just beginning to exercise). I recently started it up again as I was feeling I was "stuck".
