  • The weight may have come off drastically before but did it stay off? Life style changes cause slower but more long term (for many) weight loss. Also, there are 52 weeks in a year so although it seems like you will be decaying before your 50 lbs come off, that is less than a year at a pound per week.
  • I don't gain but for example, I went all last week seeing absolutely no change in the scale. TOM went away Monday and today I had lost just over 1 lb. No big changes in calorie intake but my body just didn't want to shed that pound until after.

  • Digital thermometers with an alarm are great for leaving in while cooking. The alarm will go off when it is at your desired temp. I got mine for $7 at Ross and they can go up to around $20. Definitely cook thin chicken though. The thick breasts have to cook much longer which causes more drying. I cut my chicken breast in…
  • Have you tried talking with your doctor? The are some medical conditions that cause people to retain fat and only your doctor can figure that out.

  • Talk to your doctor before you cut back from maintenance calories. Your doctor will have a better idea of what your growing baby needs. That is why diet products are never recommended for pregnant women. Only lose weight right now if it is under your doctor's guidance.
  • My sister in law passed out a few months ago. Turned outbher sodium levels were way too low and they continue to run low because of how much she exercises. She plays soccer about 6-8 hours a week and softball 1 hour a week. All of that depletes the salt and causes her blood pressure to be dangerously low if she isn't…
  • The most recent one I bought was 3 lbs and cost me $6. It was also the smallest one they had so I can easily see some being $10. It is one of those that is best to buy with the sales. What I love is when my Fresh & Easy has them they are $1.49 TOTAL ni matter the weight. They only have them when they are in season though.
  • I usually get 30 fiber a day from cereal, fruit, veggies & then thanks to other..issues.. I sometimes need to go even higher so I take 5 psyllium husk tablets.
  • When I first joined my gym I had a personal trainer for 1.5 months because it came free with the prepay option I did. I was 17 at the time and had lost about 60 lbs with my dietician. At that time I was at a weight where I shouldn't be losing more but needed to build muscle and cut down on body fat. There came in the…
  • Do you use a gym? May be worth it to talk to a personal trainer that can give you strength training exercises designed for a six pack. Also be aware that six packs take a lot of maintenance. I went on a trip in college with a bunch of friends. At the start one guy had a six pack he had been working on with his trainer for…
  • Have you considered this may be your body's way of telling you it is at a healthy weight and happy? With so little to lose you really could already be in your weight range. No person stays at a single weight day after day. Usually anywhere from a 10-20 lb goal range is healthy. With how intense your workouts are it…
  • If 1400 a day is too low for you then lower your weight loss goal. I would definitely start out with 1 lb a week in your situation and once you learn to manage those calories start to up your goals.
  • 4oz Chicken Breast with Applewood Bacon Salt 2/3 Valleyfresh Steamers Healthy Colors veggies 1/2 cup Bush's Homestyle Baked Beans 1 hamburger bun
  • I cut mine in half and sprinkle it with olive oil, some salt and pepper then roast it cut side down for 40 minutes. Shreds up so nicely and I use the shell as a bowl for the " noodles". Top it with ground chicken, no sugar added spaghetti sauce & a sprinkling of mozzarella. Super delish. It is one of those items that let's…
  • Having friends on here is a good motivational tool for the hoorays and it can also be useful to look at each others diaries to get food ideas.
  • I have about the same calorie goal as you. To keep your body fueled the calorie goal is for you net after exercise. If you go even lower you can lose more weight but you could also be depriving your body of the energy you need.
  • Tortillas are the soft taco shells but just for a taco size one they can range from 130-160 per tortilla. Most restaurants give you 3 if you are having fajitas or asada which can easily equal 450 calories in itself. That's dessert or a margarita for me which I would enjoy more than a few tortillas.
  • Just say no to tortillas. Ask if you can get whole beans instead of refried beans. They are usually tastier and are much better for you. Chili verde or chili Colorado usually are good choices because they don't have cheese and aren't fried.
  • Ugh, feel the pain. I had at least 10 students ask me last semester when I was due and if I was having a boy or girl :(. Probably didn't help that I always hung out with abpregnant teacher so everyone just assumed were both having babies. I think I have finally beaten it into their heads that it is utterly rude to ever ask…
  • The conept of food going to waste is one I have struggled with over the years. I grew up having to finish my plate because when my grandpa was a kid he was lucky if he got to eat 3 meals in a day. I definitely think this contributed to me being an overweight child until my doctor intervened in high school. To this day I…
  • I personally like Ground Chicken. 2.99/lb at Fresh & Easy versus the Extra Lean Ground Beef Costing $5-6.50 when on sale.
  • I wore my PI shirt to the gym today :) I am a math teacher to and admit to not being able to throw parties. Big part of that is evil pacing guides but I do bring in cookies and treats when wee reach certain goals. Never been able to celebrate PI day though because it keeps falling on spring break.
  • Caffeine is bad for some people. Personally, my doctor has told me to start drinking something caffeinated as soon as I get a headache because caffeine helps migraines. In fact, the main ingredient in most OTC migraine pills is caffeine. My dad has Parkinsons's and his specialist also encourages him to drink coffee because…
  • I was just introduced to these tonight. YUM. I immediately went home, took the grapes from my fridge and stuck them in the freezer. I also like freezing a whole banana on a skewer and eating it like a Popsicle.
  • Count it, but don't freak out if you have gone over by a lot. This will allow you to look at net calorie for the whole week and if you have gone under your calorie goal a few days it may just even out over the week to not be a difference.
  • 5'8" with a large frame and high bone density (this is according to my doctors) CW : 211. Initial GW: 185. Final GW: 160-175 Technically according to standard BMI charts 160-175 would put me on the boarder of healthy and overweight but this was what my last dietician always recommended as being a safe range for my…

  • I am bad about weigh ins. Yes I weigh myself regularly ( ok, daily) but I only record the weight once it has gone down 1 full lb.
  • I amwith all of you. I even did weight training in college and at the end of the course we had a competition for strongest legs, I won that easy. I have almost always had the "gap" because my body is shaped like and hourglass whether I weigh 160 or 220. I shop at Kohl's a lot and have found that APT 9 for jeans has much…
  • I am so addicted to popcorn. Love love love it. I have a Cuisinart Popcorn maker that uses only 1 tbsp of oil per 1/2 cup of kernels so a big bowl is only 140 calories. I try to avoid the butter ( since I will never keep it under control) so usually I add hot sauce to it which has no calories or I will sprinkle some light…

  • I think a big part of your loss may be water weight. Now that you are consciously eating better and drinking more water your body is reducing it's water retention. As long as you are eating at your calorie goals and eating back exercise calories you should be fine. Water weight is part of the reason dietitians tell people…
