Yes. Quiet a few actually. Which ones actually work..hard to say. But fish oil, multi vit, creatine, & mixed protein mix are pretty solid bets. Beta Alanine, CoQ10, Vit D and LAriginine are my next tier that I think probably work for me.

^^^This... Exactly how I started...walking 30 mins a day, then 60, then 90 then 120. That's how I lost 60lbs...it is then that I hit the gym. Not that you shouldn't hit the gym as well and lift weights...but walking is a great first step.

I find that most people going to the gym to be very friendly and helpful. Making small talk is easy...simply ask them what they are working on today is a great opening question.

:(
8-12 is not a rule of thumb.
Funny. I use rule of thumb..state you may find something different & quote a scientific study that says it doesn't matter. And I still get someone questioning it. As I look down at my 19 inch arms and six pack I shake my head in shame, how can I be so wrong....

This happens to all of us competitive types I think. A month ago I was hitting personal records left and right..blowing past them. Now, I'm 10-15% below them...nothing has changed...same diet, same sleeping, same routine. Doesn't seem to make sense, but I guess a tree can't grow towards the sky forever. At some point your…

Rule of thumb is 8-12 for bulk. Your mileage may vary..works for me. I recently read a study that volumn has more to do with it than number of sets/reps. So you pretty much get the same results if you do 4 x8 or 8 x 4. Main thing seem to be....do SOMETHING.

It may not seem like it to many, but for me, my health is my number one priority. With it, I can do more of everything, without it, almost nothing else is possible. Like one poster said, make health a Big Rock. I have a very demanding job, a family and I'm a competitive Bodybuilder. What I give up is sleep. I function on…

Milk, chicken, fish and egg whites. But my go to source is: Shrimp...high protein, low cals..and great tasting.

Have had both of those demons most of my life: depression and insomnia. And for me they seem to go hand in hand. During the day I'm about the happiest guy on the planet..but at night the demons visit. My advice is slightly different than others. I acknowledge that I'm "different". So when the demons visit me at night,…

probably not. :(

Similar to this. I have a coworker that lifts and is actually strong...but his diet sucks. As I was getting ready for my first BB comp, I had to get my BF down to 5% or below. This guy would insist on me following his advice...low carb diet...didn't matter how many calories you ate, just keep carbs rock bottom low.…

Agree with this ^^^ So many variables. I wouldn't sweat it...important thing is keep doing it.

That dog is long gone. In 15 years, never bit anyone. I continued to let him run where it was allowed. Never was an issue. Not saying that some dogs shouldn't be put on leads at all times, owners have ultimate responsiblities

Very insightful. Thanks for posting.

I'm pretty sure that is merely for TV...like others I walked before I ran. My wife and I love watching the transformation program, but get a chuckle when they make a statement of being in the gym for 8 hrs. I'm a competitive bodybuilder and even when I'm training for a comp and doing two a days, I don't spend 8 hrs in the…

I had something like this happen to me once, but kind of on the other side of it. My wife, PG at the time and I where walking our new puppy in the park one day. Choc lab, he was about 3 months old and very playful. The park didnt require that dogs to be on leads. A male jogger ran by and our puppy started to chase him. I…

Yup...protein is the building block of muscles...bummer you still have to work out to make it happen!

I do this about 4 days a week. Morning weights when I'm at my strongest, cardio in late afternoon/early eve. Watch the fat just run off!

Possible? Yes Probable? No In my experience, in this type of relationship atleast one of the two want it to be more..Usually the guy, but not always. They may set boundries or maybe one is shy and never makes the move. But in time, a pass will be made...how that is received and dealt with will set the tone for the…

I lost 60 lbs in 4 months. Matters how aggressive you are, but I think YOU start to notice within 3 weeks. Close friends and family will notice soon after. Get excited...you do this and your life will change...trust me...it's worth it. Good luck, TC

First my sincere apologies for any offense I may have cause anyone for what may be construed as egotistical bravado. That was not my intent but I will be the first to admit it may have been taken that way. As both a competitive bodybuilder and an USAF officer, I train hard and expect no less than that from others. But this…

Interesting...almost all the haters don't have pic of themselves on their profile..or only face shots. Why is that? That's right, because you are cyber bullies. You can't back up what you preach. I note that I'm quoted as being condescending...but no one has said you don't practice what you preach. Pls...go back to your…

First, pls understand a few thing...note where I posted this..in the motivation and support area. So if I'm trying to motivate people and have them build their will power...is this not the correct venue? The comment about pasta and bread seem to have hit a nerve. I'm not saying you have to stop eating them, I'm saying,…

When I wrote this last night, I thought...if I reach 5 people..it was worth it...5. Well, looks like it was worth it. For those of you who don't want to take the plunge and stay normal, fine. But how many of you I wonder have swam with sharks, went black water rafting, handgliding...ran up Diamond Head in 20 mins...why?…

Love raw fish like sushimi...really don't like the taste of cooked fish. Carrots, love cooked, hate raw.

One quick suggestion...work out first thing in the morning..when you do have energy. If you don't have time, make time. Get up earlier. Find a gym that meets your schedule..then go. Your health is the most important thing you have. And trust me, if you get back in it, you will end up having MORE energy.

As a competitive BB, for me..the answer is yes. Two reasons: First, I drink 2 shakes during off season and 3-4 shakes during prep time. The ones I use give me 21-33 grams of protein for between 100-160 calories. So high dose of protein for low cals. Only thing somewhat similar is egg white and I eat a ton off egg "snots"…

I take a lot of ras from other BB, but ya, I'm a p&ss and wear gloves. I do think I get a better grip and secondly, I don't know where these other guys paws have been...so they act like hand condoms. Trust me, if you lift the heavy weight, you still have calluses.
