  • I heard on the radio that this year has been particularly bad. USA experiencing bad weather and uk - well we have only had about 2 dry days since mid December!! 30 inches of rain since 23 dec. I couldn't work out why all I wanted was biccies and bread - I never eat either! The doctor on the radio said that lack of sun and…
  • Use a bottle or a straw. It is easier to drink as I you take less at a time. I always use bottles with sport lid and as a small amount of water flavouring like sugar free lime. Any liquid is good - it doesn't have to be pure water always. I actually don't like tap water so only drink it with cordial. Bet you find it…
  • Stir fries, stews, risotto, omelettes, to mention a few. Lots of veg as basis then meat and either brown rice, quinoa or brown pasta. Any help? Just make it tasty using herbs and spices. There are lots of ideas on here. Search one pot cooking its fab x
  • Our favourite supper is 2 poached eggs on toast with field mushrooms (baked for 20 mins or microwaved for 3 with a little pepper), and sprinkled with some bacon bits which have been cooked until crunchy and blotted with kitchen roll to remove fat. I don't have toast so my cals are 350 and with toast 550. I finish with…
  • Sorry just seen other posts. If you already did that then you get to eat 1800 per day lucky thing! More if you exercise! X
  • If you go to my home then goals you put in how much you want to lose per week and it does it all for you. Add exercise and keep with the deficit not too low. Aim to eat half to 3/4 of you exercise cals back and it should fall off. Be honest with yourself tho. 3500 cals = 1lb so you need a weekly deficit of that to lose a…
  • Good food choices but calorie intake is far too low. 895 net cals will not keep you going for long and you will end up falling off the wagon through hunger or making yourself I'll, add some fruit and yoghurt maybe but try and eat some of your exercise cals back. Good luck
  • You need to put the details in your profile and let it work it out for you. You need a deficit of 500 cals per day to lose 1lb a week approx. the system will work out your calorie needs, how much deficit to lose 2lbs a week then add your exercise and eat what is left. Eg if you need 1700 cals to exist, take off 700 to lose…
  • Eat what is on your plate just make sure it is all within your cals. Don't go hungry - that is the worst thing. You will fall off e wagon in minutes. Try making a vat of soup or veg curry (whichever you prefer) and some stewed apples and have them handy in the fridge. If you are hungry or need a fix they are low cal and…
  • Iced peach flavoured tea is really nice - make your own in a jug and put in fridge. I love cinamon tea dragonfly chai version or if water is yuk - I get that- add fruit juice - 3oz juice in a glass topped up with water. I can't drink neat juice now.
  • I swim for fitness and cannot swim if I have eaten in the previous 4-6 hours. Horrible feeling and it makes me sluggish too...
  • Personally I don't think 4 pints is excessive - I am including tea and coffee in that too - for me 3 litres is about right - I have energy, I don't get headaches or cramps and my skin is good. any less and I know about it. I think it is what your body is used to and how it makes you feel.
  • most food served in restaurants is full of fat to make things taste yummy - cream, oil, butter etc - it all enhances flavour. also portion sizes don't help. At home we would use non stick pans and spray oil or maybe just a little oil to help onions cook, lean cuts of meat and no or half fat cream/crème fraiche but in…
  • bump cos it made me smile xxx
  • Swede - hated it until I got pregnant then couldn't get enough of it. Now we grow swede at eat it regularly. Mashed it replaces mash pots and roasted it tastes yummy.
  • Hi I tend to eat back half the calories I earn as I don't exercise every day - some days I do nothing and eat my 1290, other days I do swimming which is 505 cals (45 mins laps) and I eat back 250 or so. This way I lost 1-2lbs each week and have bags of energy. any less and I wain and am tempted to pick. If you did 500 cals…
  • I always eat back half my exercise calories so I don't get hungry. If 1200 is to lose weight the you could eat all your exercise cals back if you wanted but by eating some of them you should have enough energy to function... Good luck :)
  • Unlikely to be fat a) because it was so sudden and b) you are quite low bmi wise about 21-22 to my calculation so fat loss that quick is not possible either IMO. Maybe rather than lose weight too quick concentrate on good exercise and healthy food intake. X
  • Cereal - I always weigh cereal - I know for sure that my 40g bowl is usually 65-70 grams - makes a big difference! I also weigh meat and cheese and measure dressing otherwise approximate especially green veg and salad. I was horrified to find that the "tablespoon of French dressing was actually 2.5 which made over 100 cals…
  • Too much water is definitely bad for you but too little s not good either. I drink 2-3 litres of tea and coffee and water every day. For exercise days I up by a bottle. You do not get all you need from the food you eat and you certainly lose weight faster if you stay hydrated. Well I do anyway!!!
  • I have also been told that the liver will do the job of the kidneys if there is not enough water to flush them through and as it's job is primarily to break down toxins and fat, by drinking water, it gets to do its own job! And to cap it all, the only way fat leaves your body is by peeing so get drinking!!
  • Hi Loosint! Don't worry too much - baby steps. I was a real carb addict for years - pasta, bread, potatoes etc. I did a low carb diet for a few months (not carb free, just low carb) and I now hardly miss it at all. I never ever thought that would happen. Now when I eat it, I feel bloated. However, if you don't feel you can…
  • I would check you calorie intake - no matter how clean you eat, if you are eating too many calories, you will not lose weight. Often (and it has happened to me) you may stay the same for a few weeks but your body will probably change shape and adjust. However, if you are eating the right amount without a deficit you will…
  • My husband who has 100lbs to lose is sated by oats so simpe or microwave oats. 220 cals for a pack and low fat milk. You cd always take a banana for mid am snack if desperate. 6 wetabix seems excessive to me..... But oats will keep you going longer. Maybe add yoghurt?
  • I like to stick to oats so simple for breakfast, 220 cals, soup and fruit for lunch, 300 cals then something like poached eggs on grilled potabello mushrooms and a couple of turkey rashers or chicken thighs slow roasted, skin and bone on but removed before eating, or turkey meatballs,I then have a yoghurt (activia) and a…
  • looking good there Sarah - Your legs look fab - what exercise do you do? My main problem is that the last diet I did in earnest was Cambridge - like lighter life - and I lost 42lbs in about 4 months so could see the scales going down on a daily basis. It took my dad passing away for me to put the weight back on and after…
  • I know, I know. It is a habit hard to break - step 1 is I have put the scales in the office downstairs!!! ;)
