Sometimes I'm certain that MFP's calorie estimates for exercise are just numbers that they've pulled out of thin air. "Um... 317 an hour! That's sounds good! Let's put that down."

Good luck on your first Half!! I ran two of them in October and plan on doing a Full next October. This is "down" season, so I'm doing more cross training stuff during the winter and only a few runs per week. The best part about running long distances is the need to eat more carbs. Yay! You've already done the training...…

I was just going through this very thing. I have TDEE data based on rest days (less carbs and calories) and workout days (a little more). Since I don't think we can have two different types of days here, I just averaged them and entered that information as my daily goals.

I can't blame her for unrealistic expectations when there is another thread about "Can I lose 20 pounds in two months?" and most folks say absolutely, just work hard. Heaven help her, maybe she watches The Biggest Loser and sees those major drops each week. But yes, since you're near your healthy weight, losing five pounds…

Have you seen your doctor lately to make sure that your hypothyroidism is under control? Have you tried logging your eating to get a sense of total number of calories? It doesn't sound likely, but maybe you're taking in 4,000 calories a day in veggies and lean protein. Yes, the last ten or five pounds are extremely…

Yes to the nausea with the GNC CLA supplement! I just started it two days ago and the first day I felt fine. The second day I felt sick. The only difference was that I took it on an empty stomach the second day. I haven't tried the Total Lean Burn because I don't feel that I'm exercising enough to warrant the speed. I took…

You can reduce it by lowering your overall body fat. You can strengthen your abs, which will help. But the only... only... thing that will eliminate that "apron" is surgery. It's excess skin that will never fully tighten without an abdominoplasty, aka a tummy tuck. $10,000, give or take.

This is a problem that plagues many women month after month, whether they are in a weight loss challenge or not. So rather than judge, I'll tell you what helps me. I reduce my carb and salt intake significantly. It shocks me how much water I retain if I eat a lot of sugar and flour. I'll stick with lean proteins and…

No kidding. I didn't have the energy to exercise (or eat clean or care about sex) until my clinical depression was treated with medications designed for... wait for it... clinical depression. Then I began to take care of myself and discovered the endorphin boosting effects of exercise. And only then was I able to wean off…

My avatar is from my first 5K. Just like you, my goal was to do it in under 45 minutes. I, too, suck at running. I did maybe half "running" and half walking and finished in 38? minutes. It was in 2012 and I honestly can't remember my exact time. It was so nerve-wracking but so fun! You will have a blast! It doesn't matter…

Oh my gosh, that made me laugh so hard! Thank you for this message. I have been unable to lose a single smidgeon in the past week or so and it's making me crazy. I've been tempted to say "Frack it", too. But you're right.... we can't keep waiting until that magic Monday comes around. Keep on keepin' on!

That last photo... with the two different pairs of shorts... brought tears to my eyes. Very powerful stuff!

I intend to get Botox for the frown line between my eyebrows that I've acquired from 40 years of squinting into the sun. But I'm going to tell the doc, "How many vials do you recommend? Okay, do half of that." I don't think Sharon Osborne looks good at all. I see her and think, "She's had work done. Lots of it." I'd love…

I lost 20 pounds from diet alone (150 to 130). I purposefully didn't exercise because the number on the scale really mattered to me and I didn't want to risk any muscle growth messing up a lower number. I'm not saying that's smart... but that's where I was at, mentally. Once I reached my magic number I realized I still had…

Thanks, Naomi! That's sweet of you. :) But to be fair, as much as I like to take credit for our MIT student, I also have to confess to having a 12 year old with the work ethic of a tree snail. Hopefully there's still time for him!

I'm 43 and have eight children. It doesn't matter how low my weight gets or how fit I get, I will always have a poochy tummy and droopy boobs UNLESS I get them surgically repaired... which I fully. intend. to do.

Well, I think you look fantastic and you are very inspiring to this mom of seven!

I totally know what you mean about never having expected to be a runner. Same here. I also totally understand becoming addicted. Same here. Running becomes not something that you do, but who you are. Even when I couldn't run because of pregnancy complications I still thought of myself as a runner. Don't worry about speed…

We've homeschooled for our children's entire academic years. Our oldest child is 18 and is a junior in engineering at MIT. When that acceptance letter arrived I wanted to enlarge it to billboard size and put it in my mother-in-law's front yard. ;)

Let me see if I got this straight... You began running this past June and now ran a half marathon?? And did it in under 2 hours?? I certainly hope you're planning on running a full sometime! You've got what it takes! I began running in June (of 2012) and it was October before I could run an entire 5K without any walking…

You look GORGEOUS and you are going to reach your goals after your sweet little guy arrives! Congratulations on all of the blessings in your life!

A year ago I was 120, down from 155. I even saw the occasional 118 but more frequently the scale said 120 or 121. I'm 5'4". I now have a three month old and weigh 141. My goal is 125 because that was doable without an enormous effort. The last five pounds (down to 120) were vanity pounds and took as much work to take off…

DarlaJean, I have a three month old, too! My post-baby inspiration is part vanity and part health. I want people to say "Wow, you have a baby?!" and I want to be able to keep up with my active children.

As you can see from my pic, I am a fellow runner but I haven't tackled a Half yet. Your success is AMAZING!! A thousand congratulations to you. Any plans to run a full? You can obviously do whatever you put your mind to!

Congratulations on day after day after day of good choices! The last set of side by side pictures looks like a mom and her daughter!
