Howdy friends! Haven't checked in lately. I'm in the midst of a 16-day European vacation. London, Paris and Brussels. Haven't struggled a bit. Very easy to stay true to this WOE. Decided to try an experiment while traveling: I'm not tracking my food. Just intuitively eating my meat/cheese/veggies while here. And walking.…

I had my gall bladder -- and my lapband -- removed a couple of years ago. I gained about 20-30 lbs. now I'm moving back in the right direction. I have no problems with eating a high fat diet

I did a two day egg fast earlier this week after I had been gaining one lb per week for no apparent reason. It helped and I dropped two pounds. I like doing the egg fast every once in a while. I do love my eggs, so I never see it as a struggle or as restrictive.

WOE is short for way of eating

Thanks Knit. Your comments helped me feel less frustrated. I'm up 1.5 lbs from 2 weeks ago... But will keep at it. I need to remember this ISN'T a linear process!!!

Howdy friends. I've been faithfully following this WOE for 2.5 months now and I love it. I feel great. Over the past week or so I've been feeling hungrier though, and I'm not psyched about that. As a result I've been eating more, although nothing off plan. I normally try to stay around 1500 calories and <20 net carbs. I've…

Good morning! Wishing all the moms here a very happy Mother's Day.

There's actually a group called "Low Carb/Keto Recipe Roundup" that I'm a member of. Check it out!

Maggie, at its core, a Keto diet is no sugar, no grain, based in high (70-80%) fat, moderate protein and very low carb. Wraps, tortillas, taco shells, etc are not consistent with a Ketogenic way of eating. Some of the best advice I got was that if something says "Low Carb!" to stay away. Always look at ingredients. If it…

What did you pay? I get them at my grocery store. One box has five bars and costs 6.99
-
I have had the chocoperfection bars. They are good. I will take one or two squares (each bar has four squares) maybe once or twice a week.

Calories do matter, but it's more complex that CICO. I'm not a scientist but I know some calories (dairy and Keto baked goods) cause me to stall while others (meat and eggs) do not. I would be frustrated with gaining on this WOE. one thing that struck me from your comment was eating till full and your off switch. I HEAR…

Your sister has been brainwashed by the American food industry. It's not her fault. It's quite a hurdle to change your thinking from fat is bad to fat is good. AND that stupid food pyramid telling us the majority of our food should be whole grains. It gives me stomach discomfort just thinking about that! Maybe you can…

Me too. Sugar and most carbs are so toxic to the body I can't imagine ever wanting to eat them again. Especially since there are a zillion delicious recipes for low carb treats like cakes and stuff.

Hi Amber. Welcome. To get higher fat in your meals, simply choose high fat content meats, like 73% hamburger or rib eye steaks. Eat chicken with the skin on (holy yummmm!), pan fry stuff in butter, and add plenty of butter to your cooked veggies. I'm sensitive to dairy, but if you aren't, cheesy sauce is great on ANYTHING,…

I strive for less than 20 net carbs per day. There really isn't a "too low" carb count, as carbs are not required by the body. I know of some people who eat zero carb diets. Basically all meat. I'm not interested in that, but under 30 net is totally doable for me

Howdy friends. Haven't checked in for a little while. Happy to report that going to Vegas is the key to getting your whoosh! I was stuck at 248.2 for three weeks. No cheats, staying on plan. Went to Vegas, came back five days later and down four pounds. I was quite concerned that I would be severely tempted to go off plan,…

I do feel better and I look better as well. It's just so stinkin' strange that the number is exactly the same: 248.2. I'm on my way to Vegas today for a conference. Hoping lots of walking around will help. No cheats planned. In fact, I haven't had a single cheat since I started on 2/24. I've gone over my calories, but…
-
Argh!! I fell like my scale is broken. Two weeks ago: 248.2. Last week: 248.2. Today: 248.2. Exactly the same three times in a row!!! Arggggh!!
-
I'm self employed, so I guess I'm sending myself to Vegas!!
-
Yes, but you will be satisfied and not feel the need for more volume. Your brain hunger will take some adjusting though. Welcome to the yummy side!!

Howdy friends!! Spent a good part of yesterday out in the yard again. I'll tell ya, having a new house on 2.5 acres requires some work!! I'm going out of town to a work conference (Vegas, woo hoo!) later this week and am feeling good about my resolve. It's my 7th week of Keto and I really have no temptation from things…

Low carb is the best way. Carbs and many "fake carbs" i.e. artificial sweeteners, cause the insulin to come searchin' for food to store as fat.
-
I never heard anyone else talk about being distracted by the desire to have a little something sweet. I always felt that way, but never really verbalized it. Before starting Keto, I was distracted all the time.... every day... if I didn't have some sort of sweets. It truly is an addiction.

LOL!! :D
-
Sunny bunny - that is a very helpful post!!

Good morning friends. Today was my week 6 weigh-in. Exactly the same as last week. A bit disappointed, but won't give up. Going to change up a few things in my diet -- less dairy and Keto treats, more basics like meat, fish, butter and leafy greens. I've not gone off plan at all, but I think dairy and artificial sweeteners…

I'm hoping that once I get to maintenance phase I can incorporate more fruits. Right now though, I'm putting them on hold.
-
I do mine with 1 T butter, 1 T heavy whipping cream, and 1T sugar free caramel syrup. I threw it all in a magic bullet and blend it for about 10 seconds. Delicious!

That's how I do it!
