The recommended weight loss is 1-2lb a week. You do not want to lose too fast as you need to give your body a chance to adjust and research has shown that losing weight fast has a higher percent chance of gaining the weight back.

You have got to be kidding me? Fat over loose skin? I'd choose loose skin any day. It's so painful and unhealthy for the body to be overweight. Loose skin is easily concealed. I look at my old pictures and think how ugly and disgusting all that fat looked on me. Up to you though chances are being fat will shorten your life.

Very true, there is no limit to what I can do. Yesterday I RAN up steep stairs. Sore today but worth it and that is something I'd never thought I'd do. It just takes time.

Thanks for your advice. I will take all this on board. I have almost a year to train for it so I do have the time to get my fitness up.

I'm 29 and lost about 50lb so far, still have almost 90lb to go.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you look at it in that way then it is doomed to fail. A diet makes you think that there's an end to it. What are you going to do at the end? Eat the same food as before and gain the weight back? To keep the weight off you need to totally overhaul your lifestyle. You still have…

Good on you for sharing your pictures. You should feel very proud of yourself! Losing all that weight is an amazing effort! I am in the middle of my weight loss journey and in all honesty I would much rather have loose skin than have to carry around this ridiculous amount of weight. It might not be the most attractive…

It's probably very unmotivating to not see your weight go down fast. To lose that much weight will take a while, it didn't come on overnight and sadly it doesn't disappear overnight. I have 88lb more to lose, already lost 44lb. My suggestion would be weigh your food, make sure it's nutritous and filling and drink plenty of…

As was said, if you burn the calories in exercise then obviously your body is going to need more to function. By not eating properly you can mess up your system so badly and I'm talking from personal experience. Eating less is not always better when it comes to weight loss.

I have been doing really well and keeping within my calorie goals and exercising most days. I have no idea what I weigh this week as my scales aren't working but have ordered a new set which should arrive by the end of the week. I have lost 4cm all over my body this week though so I am happy.

That's great to hear! Congratulations!

It's got lots of people and I don't think I would have gotten this far without MFP and the support that the people here offer :). Best of luck with the journey, it is a long and hard one.

I would love one of the Indian Takeout meals we used to get. I worked out that my usual meal was 10,883kj so it wasn't really worth it to me. Haven't had it in over a month.

My why is my son. I want to be there for him as he grows up. I want to be able to run around with him. I don't want him being embarrassed for having the "fat mum" at school. I want to do it for myself so I can look and feel better.

That's just a base. If you exercise you will find you can eat more calories. What you exercise off you earn back in calories.
