I kept my range 3 pound over or under for example i maintained at 160 so I gave myself 157-163 any more than that and it is most likely fat not water weight.

If your current calorie level isnt working go up 100 calories for a week. If you still are not getting the results you want go up another 100 per week until you get the gain that you want tot achieve.

alerek. If you only add about 100 calories at a time until you see less than a pound a week gained that is the rate you want to bulk at. That will be your fat gain minimal

Do not worry at all! 1200 calories is way too low to start with. The reason for the weight gain could easily be water weight and if not your metabolism will get better and you will actually lose weigh faster! I know it sounds crazy but ive seen it work many times. Keep up the good work

Im trying to gain weight also and would love do it with you!

zuesssmith, If you weigh yourself at the same time of day every day the measurement should be consistent. I weigh myself in the morning and will see a fluctuation of less than .0.1 pound a day.

I was in the same situation a few months ago. 2500 is good to start with. If you dont put .5 pounds on in the first week or 2 then go up another 100 until you see that you gain half a pound a week that will allow you to bulk without fat gain. I would also recommend lifting more then 3 days a week. I am doing a 6 day a week…

I would recommend more vegetables. They add more volume to your food with low calories. For fruit I wouldnt recommend more then 2 servings a day due the high levels of sugar, it is good sugar but still a high amount of sugar. And also small servings of nuts. Due to the very high levels of fats they can easily cause fat…

I also want to say that 1200 calories is not enough. I would recommend going up to 1400 that way you will still lose a large amount of weight but this way you will not damage your metabolism.

Just a warning Evan. It is not possible for the body to gain more then about 2-4 pounds of muscle a month. If you are gaining at the rate of 5-8 pounds a high percentage of that is going to be fat.
