  • Arnold. But realistically pretty much anybody non-obese who are a foot or so taller than me. I would love not to be so short.
  • Find a younger, hotter women to exercise with :) just exercise, but maybe a touch of the old competitiveness could spark her into action? Or failing that, get a really good podcast and some ear buds then go your own way, showing her how it is done.
  • A decent food scale should be cheap enough and it is an amazing tool. But yeah the goal is certainly attainable. There is even room to make a few mistakes. You have more than two and a half months.
  • Forget motivation, work on your core issues and fix them. MIne was eating too much crap, yours is more emotional. You need to work on that.
  • I love my flex and have found it to be really accurate wrt calories. The worst thing is that I now walk a lot more :) They are certainly not cheap, but since I had the money, why not get it?
  • Remember only the people who matters get hate messages. You have to do something for people to want to kill you. For sure we need a more correct word than diet. Life improvement would be my suggestion – you could certainly have gone with lifestyle change as well, but that is too broad and not precise enough.
  • This reminds me of a favorite Churchill quote: if you're going through hell, keep going.
  • Friday I really didn't want to run. I was very very close to just not doing it. I managed to do it anyway primarily by not thinking about it and just doing it, but the funny thing is even though I completely failed the workout (I was only able to complete little less than a third of the planned run) I felt better after…
  • You can't both be serious and want to start tomorrow. Tomorrow will be tomorrow, someday will always be someday, when you get the time will always be never. All you have to work with is today. Make the best of it or don't, that is your single choice in life. If you send me a friend request, I won't hesitate to kick your…
  • Your mistake was not to want to lose weight, nor was it to assume that's there was something wrong with being wain. What you did wrong was to assume nobody would criticize you for it and, when somebody inevitably did, you took the opinions of the critics serious. They are jealous of your resolve and envy you. Something…
  • Congratulations, but it isn't fair to use your mom as a before picture! (yes you really looked like a middle aged person in the before picture).
  • House of cards, althought not when I work out - that would just have me run into traffic by accident.
  • Border collies are awesome, but do be careful because not only are they bundles of energy, your dog will also not stop before you do and while they can outrun us humans in the short and minimum distance, no animal on earth can outrun a human over a long distance on a hot day - they simply die of heat stroke (humans sweat…
  • I looked at both and end up going with the flex. Not being able to see you steps directly is a negative, but the indicator lights leds do give you a surprisingly accurate view of how far you are. I went with the flex because they said you could shower with it, which I have tested and found to be true although drying it is…
  • I haven't tried them, but if I were you I wouldn't do them. Realistically you won't be using them forever and the last thing you need is get all your weight back once you have lost it - too much hard work for nothing. Better to take it a little slower and end up with habits you can keep up for the next 60+ years, than…
  • Look at my track for the answer.
  • Well the max target is about 2 pounds a week, however you should experience a larger, one time, initial weight loss too so it may be possible. Either way if you stick with it should be able to loose at least 26 pounds. I am not sure what your doctor wants you to lose it for, but whatever it is that should be enough to…
  • I talked with a guy who does serious cross-fit about this and what he said is that while everybody does the same exercises all the exercises can be scaled down to whatever you can do, no matter how little this is. Also everybody starts with the introduction classes (this may differ at your location, but at least go talk…
  • You need to drop 30-40/17, which is around 2 pounds a week, requiring a deficit of at least 2 pounds/week. That means you need to cut out a little more than 1000 kcal each day. How you do that and tone at the same time I do not know, but I guess it might work out. The weight loss is a challenge for sure, but not impossible.
  • I am at 1200 but eat back most of the fitbit calories I get. It isn't a lot - you have very little room to avoid a screw up - but it is totally doable. A multivitamin ensures I don't end up missing something important and, to the extend I watch my macros, I just focus on getting enough protein. It also helps that I am 5.3,…
  • Please tell me you meant a BMI below 30, not 130.
  • You will need to eat less calories than you expend, so log all your food. You will lose fat, but from where is not something you can control. I would try HIT once you are able, it also burns a lot of calories (google for several programs).
  • Then go alone and prove them all wrong. Heck you can be the person it works for and then your husband will follow you.
  • I count what I eat and stay under my calories, but didn't eliminate anything. I am quite lazy so usually I just mix a bunch of things up for meal times and then I take about a minute at most to log them - this is not so bad, considering.
  • I try very hard to stay under, but realistically I will go over from time to time - having a beer with a friend, going home to the parents (always involve moms cake for some reason), etc. As long as you end up going at a pace you can live with, being reasonably healthy at the same time who cares?
  • Point one, it gets better. Point two if you exercise you can eat back some of those things and you won't feel so hungry.
  • I am at 1200 a day and would have gone mad if it wasn't for my fitbit. That thing means I walk a lot more and I actually get to eat some (or all) of the calories back. Shoot me a friend request if you want, I have lost about that amount with a little less than that to go.
  • You didn't run slowly. You ran so fast that it wasn't even possible for you to see all the people sitting in/on their couches doing nothing at all.
  • If it makes you feel any better, as a guy, fat breasts may be big but they aren't attractive. Firm breasts are (because they are an indicator of health) and while they will get more saggy as you age, being fit will make your breasts more firm. But at the end of if, if it really bothers you, you could look into getting some…
  • Sure would. I have come too far to stop now. However the community is what really makes MFP and that would likely be drastically reduced.
