I work nights 7p-7a but only 2 nights per week. Because my sleep schedule is off between working overnight and having 2 kids at home to be awake for, I keep my "schedule" from midnight to midnight. So right now, I just logged my 3am snack as "breakfast".

You'll do great. I ran my 1st only 3 weeks after completing my 1st 10K. Essentially no prep - longest run before the half was 9 miles, and I only did that once. what a motivational reason!

Hey girl! You will def see an increase in your cals burned when you are back on track with running. You're weight/height/body will be a big determinate in how many cals you burn. I have a Polar HR monitor that I love but it is significantly less expensive than the one you are looking at. Unless youre doing any hardcore…

I have asthma as well and in the 3 years I have been running, I have managed to wean down on my Albuterol to the point that I am not inhaler-dependent to exercise. I have found that chewing gum while running actually helps me to regulate my breathing. i still carry my inhaler as a security blanket but I havent used it…

My very 1st half I ran in 2:26 with essentially no training (had run my 1st 10K about 3 weeks before and only made it up to 9 miles as my longest run before the half). In February, I ran my 7th 1/2 and finished in 2:13

Sure do! And I love seeing other cars on the road with them. Makes me feel like I know the driver somehow - as if we are in some kind of elite club together!

Running my 8th (or 9th...I've lost track) 1/2 in May! Also doing P90x and Insanity for kicks. Feel free to add me as well!

Great work!

Thank you! I should have mentioned that I don't do back to back nights except for my weekend on, so I am able to work out at night after sleeping during the day. Like right now....11:30pm here and I just finished.

Yes, this is relatively common with weight loss and marathon training. Definitely still a valid reason to check in with the doc though. You might be losing too quickly, have a hormone imbalance from the training, etc. Wishing you health!

Thank you so much for those kind words. This place is incredible - I see miracles happen here every day. I will admit my perspective changed once I had my own children but for the better! The work is definitely draining at times but to see a child who rolled in the door receiving CPR, who months later WALKS out of the…

Definitely do!

Registered Nurse on a pediatric burn ICU unit. Permanent nights 7p-7a

How many of us in this post are working right now? Slow night for me - logged in to update my food diary and check the message boards!

Permanent night shifter here (working right now!)- I feel your struggle. If only it were so easy to just walk away from the snacks! My biggest problem is the eating to stay awake factor. I don't get to sleep before coming into work so by 2 or 3am, my body is craving carbs & caffeine to simply stay awake. I give into the…

I'm a mom of 2, I work part-time nights as a nurse, and I am going to grad school so my schedule is very difficult to fit exercise into - but I'm doing it. No excuses is my motto. After my older daughter was born, my husband bought me a treadmill (I asked for one - he wasn't trying to tell me I was fat!) and it was one of…

I find chewing gum while I run helps me to regulate my breathing. ETA: I am an exercise-induced asthmatic. When I started running, I was puffing on my inhaler 1-3x per run. I am happy to report that by the time I ran my 1st 1/2 marathon, I was able to do the full 13.1 miles without the assistance of an inhaler. I…

I had a lot of success with the Couch to 5K program. I started running in Jan of '08. Since then I have worked my way up and completed 6 half marathons in addition to a variety of shorter distance runs. I really enjoy running now and no longer view it as "work".

I wear a heart rate monitor and log calories burned that way.

I'm 3 weeks into it and enjoying the program. I am doing a slightly modified version of the diet. I am beginning to lose weight which is great. i am not far from my goal weight and I needed a new program to spice up my exercise routine. I have been consistent with the workouts which in itself, I am happy with. I do not…

Also 5'1" and my end goal is 112-115. I am currently 125. I have been as low as 92 and as high as 132
