Welcome aboard.

Was thinking about Lap Band when I went in for my first visit but a little bit of research and the thought of a port changed my mind. 5 months out and I can not be happier.

High all - there are two groups of Sleevers in the "Community - groups" section. Come on over and join up - great support, people in all stages pre, post, veterans etc.. 1) VSGers 2) Sleever's

Well it does seem that your neighbors have been studying your *kitten* for years. LOL. I say "Good For You!". You are working very hard to make yourself healthier and fitter and it's showing. Feel proud and if it's looking good show it off!!!

I tend to use weight rather than volume. Have found it to be easier to list on my food diary. Good job cutting the nut butter, I like to use fresh almonds as a snack. Emerald makes a nice 100 calorie pack that I keep in my desk (4 grm protein).

1) At three weeks out you should be more concerned with Protein than calories, but to answer directly: Net is key. Our volume restrictions alone ensure we have a high calorie deficit which means weight loss. Focus: fluid and protein. 2) Way too early to be worried about carb counts. 3 weeks out your meals should be between…

Remember; WLS is a TOOL not a magic solution. Everyone will adjust differently and will need to find what works for them. Stay patient, follow your Dr./Nutritionists plan, exercise and log everything into MFP. You are going to have to work real hard at failing. Relax.
-
Manually set the percentages, play with them until you hit a goal in that range.
-
Dward is on point here. It looks like you are doing fine. Are you logging everything into MFP? If not - start. Disregard the calories for a while just focusing on protein and fluid. As you progress through your nutritionists food plan you will find it helps to weigh food as well. You will start to learn to visualize…

Weight Loss Surgery. Check out the groups for "VSG" - plenty of pre and post operation contributors.

Nice job with the Dr. Pepper! I never added protein powders to soups but did make a habit of adding Nutrilife unflavored protein powder to mashed sweet potatoes. Loved it! My staple was, and still is - chocolate or bananna protein shakes. During the first two weeks I mixed them with water, now I use milk. Some successes:…

Related: I picked up a FitBit Force in January and I use it to track my daily steps, floors climbed and calorie burn (linked to MFP). Just seeing the numbers makes me push to beat my high score or reach goal. Last night I walked around in circles watching the Olympics to make sure I got a personal best 15,000 steps before…

Try the Isopure clear liquids. Jolly Rancher type taste, not gritty at all. 40g whey isolate protein in 20 oz liquid.

@Syndigutez5; No worries post op, I go out with freinds and family regularly and have been doing so from about 8 weeks post. I reccomend that as you transition from the immediate post op diet, through the food stages, that you do some internet research and learn which restaurants have menu items that work for you. Most…

I'm on Long Island (Eastern) and work in NYC so not only does the weather suck but so does the communte. That said - I have just made it a commitment MUST to get to the gym at least 3x per week. Most weeks I am getting there 4 or 5 times. I started with a personal trainer 3 weeks ago (1 session per week with 3 spereate…

What are you eating? You have to consume protein to start and maintain weight loss so if you are getting 80g of protein and 64 oz of fluid you are doing fine at this point. If not you need to start gently consuming throughout th eday so you hit these levels. The body needs fuel. You are going to enter a phase of rapid…
-
Thank you for the response Sunshine, nice to hear from someone a bit further out. I am following a similar path and find that I do need the fuel when I work out hard and that if I choose high calorie or high fat foods, or graze, I could easily consume 2500 calories in a day (Christmas and Super Bowl Sunday for example). My…

Blood Pressure Meds!! My Dr. allowed me to come off of them completely in week threes (had forgotten that) which definately helped perk me up. Vitamins: In the first few weeks I took GNC Adult Gummies for a Daily Multi and Daily C plus Biotin 2500. Now I take a daily GNC MegaMen, bio C plus, CoQ10 and Biotin.

Lots of sugar free Jello, Pudding and Italian Ices. Hang in there.
-
Check your pre-op plan for puddings. I was a BEAR until we realized sugar free Jello pudding was on the plan, unlimited quantities. Needless to say my lovely wife and children kept handing me pudding until we were through the pre-op.
-
I really avoid processed carbs as they make me feel very uncomfotable. Have had very small amounts of pasta and bread (2 oz) but it really does nothing for me now. Not craving it at all and I was a MAJOR carb addict pre surgery.
-
Are you sleeping enough? Week 3 was my first week back to work and I was very tired returning to life. Week 3 also seems quick to start any intensive workout plans. I walked from day 1 and started light workouts in the gym (everything except core/abs) at week 4. Your intake seems real good at this point - are you tracking…

Right after you transition to solid foods. About 2 to 3 weeks. before that your protein suppliment comes from Shakes, powders and drinks. I have found a few really good bars: Quest comes in a 170 calorie bar with nice protein levels. Pure Protein Plus and Met-Rx get you 29-30g protein with between 290 and 390 calories…

Practice using MFP by logging in everything you eat (everything). Get used to weighing foods it will help you visualize portions. After surgery this will be key. Good luck.

Don't feel disappointed if the process takes a bit longer than a month or two. You will need a number of medical clearances as well as appointments with a Nutrituonist, Psycologist and Support Group meetings before they will schedule a date. Pre-op diet sucks. Your Dr. will give you a pre-op plan to follow based upon your…

There are major post op dietary restrictions necessary to transition back to real food. At this point in time you should refocus on food choices and get a session with your nutritionist. If you are choosing to eat high calorie, high carb, high sugar or high fat foods then your weight loss challange will be great. If you…

First; Relax. Your body needs time to adjust to it's new reality. Are you exercising? Fiber? If you are eating the right amount of protein, getting enough water, exercising and pooping all will be well.
-
Zackary = are you using shakes to support protein intake? Are you using MFP to log in foods? This really seems like a small amount of food with a lot of cheese cubes at 7 months. I don't see meat, fish or veggtables of any kind. If this is your entire diet I would reccomend you sit with your surgeon and nutritionist. My…
