My experience has taught me that for me, it's not a diet; it's a lifestyle change. It doesn't have a goal weight or an event/date that signifies it's over. Make small sustainable changes. Log everything. I'll be rooting for you.

I can't even put into words how wonderful it feels. Physically and mentally, I feel like a new person. But unless you are prepared to change your lifestyle, your success will likely be short lived. Don't view this as a diet with a goal and an end date. When I've taken that approach in the past, I put all the weight back on…

I eat sweets every single day. Some days I have a Devil Dog, some days I have processed sugar on my cereal, and some days it's cookies, brownies, and/or ice cream. I also make sure I have a calorie deficit every day.

1) I can tie my shoes now. I actually had to keep my shoes tied loosely so I could slip them on and off. I can now kneel down and comfortably tie them, no breath holding or gasping. 2) I fit in all chairs now. I used to avoid chairs with armrests. 3) I can ride a bike for 50 miles and take a 5 mile walk shortly after.

There is lots of good advice in the posts above mine. The journey in front of me seemed so daunting and quite impossible when I started. You need to view the changes you have to make, to reach your goal, as a lifestyle changes. It's not a diet. Trust me, I know. Diets end and the weight goes back on. The changes you make…

I dread interacting, in person, with people I don't know and many I do know. I don't have "the art gene." I have little appreciation for music, movies, theater, works of art in general.

Some many great successes.

^^^ This is good advice. You have to find what works for you, but finding low calorie filling foods that you like is great start.

Director of Supply Chain Solutions. I figure out to move stuff to exactly where and when it's needed as inexpensively as possible.

What a wonderful and hopefully inspiring post for young people. I can confirm much of what you are saying.

It's pretty arrogant of people to think they know more about your journey than you do. Ignore them. You are doing GREAT!
