When I was breastfeeding (we have 3 kids), I had read that it took about 500 calories a day, so I just added that as exercise (or you could just adjust your calorie goals) per day. This was when I was nursing about 4 or 5 times a day. I adjusted down as the kiddos nursed less. If you watch your hunger levels and weight…

I could totally copy paste everything you just said in my life. It is frustrating. I feel like everyday I get up and never stop moving all day long, and look around at the end of the day and can't point to one thing I accomplished since there is still so much left to do. I started getting up at 5:00 a couple of years ago…

I cut off and donated over 13" a couple of years ago, then cut off and donated another 9" this past winter. When I had my hair really long, I always did a "Lara Croft" style pony tail with a braid. I don't think I looked much like her in any other aspect, but it worked great for exercise! Good luck!

This is such a great and inspirational story! Thanks!

Very worth it!!!!!

If it was only one of those little M&M's you probably burned the calories off typing your post! I think you are good to go!

That's awesome. Keep up the good work!

What kind of lotion do you use?

Your posture in the after picture shows your increased confidence. It tells as much about the life change you made on the inside as it does on the outside! Great work!

What a difference! You look awesome!

I stay home with my kids. It can be really hard to stay away from stuff in the kitchen if it is stuff I like. I tend to avoid stuff I don't like. Therefore, when I buy snacks for the family, I only buy healthy stuff I like, and if I am going to buy something unhealthy, I try to buy it in a version I don't care for. For…

I do best in very motivated group classes too. If I do have to work out on my own, I use a heart rate monitor, and go for a certain number of calories in my workout. That usually helps me keep the intensity up.

If the gym has any classes, you might try those out. It is a good way to find workout buddies. And don't worry about all the equipment. Everyone who is there had to start out on it just like you!

I have had a minor cold for about a week. Last Friday I did a spinning class, then spent the entire weekend in bed - miserable. I have been wondering what the guidelines for this are also. Clearly I did something wrong!

I agree with the post about getting some good socks. I have not had a blister even one time in over 10 years since I switched to good running socks! Worth every penny many times over! Good luck!

The best way is to get a heart rate monitor and use the calorie number from that. If you are going to be exercising regularly, it will be a good investment.

I used Splenda until I realized it gave me terrible headaches. I used Stevia until I realized it upset my stomach a bit. Now I use agave nectar or honey in moderation. Have had to get used the the taste of coffee without so much in it if it is something I want to keep in my diet. I like the almond milk idea!

Not showing up is guaranteed failure. All any of us can do is show up and do our best! You won't regret trying! Best wishes to you!

I had a similar thing happen to me. When I turned a certain age a couple of years ago, I gained 10 pounds out of the blue. I still have not really lost it, but have kept on exercising since I know the weight gain would have kept on going without the exercise. Also, I see benefits aside from the weight control that come…
