There is a Withings wifi scale that doesn't bother estimating BF%. I have that and really like it.

Usually the people who post rude things like "well duh...that's common knowledge" think that because they've spent the better part of the last 5 years here, usually with the exact same torso selfie profile pic. You'd think if they've known all the right answers all this time, you'd see some new pics of their progress now…

Crash dieting is probably a bad idea for all the reasons mentioned but if have made up your mind that you're 100% going to try it, consider this plan. http://www.amazon.com/The-Rapid-Fat-Loss-Handbook/dp/0967145643 At least it's well thought out and safe. Not cheap but it might be cheaper elsewhere in pdf form.

The association is a statistical fact, in many studies beyond the scope of that link. It may or may not be causal. That's up to each reader decide.

I wouldn't say IF is a "complex eating schema" or takes any higher "levels of dietary restraint" than the typical calorie counting dieter. It's associated with health benefits, though. http://authoritynutrition.com/10-health-benefits-of-intermittent-fasting/

I saw that one. Abs Pancakes. Worse name ever. The weird thing is Shark Tank has hawked premium pancake mix before-- Kodiak Cakes-- and they sell a protein enhanced version for like $11 for 4.5 lbs. at Costco. I've bought it twice, it's good. It's not a single serving unless you eat a pound of dry mix. A single serving of…

Sounds good but where's the buffalo? ;) Honestly I could just eat celery with Franks and blue cheese and be pretty happy. They can pry my sodium from my cold dead hands.

Do you mean the Cooking Light Diet?

That picture of LaTasha above is actually her at the start of the half. I finally got a chance to watch it and see I grabbed from the wrong part. She did look a little more disheveled at the end, and her hair was partly restrained, and it looked cold as hell that day so maybe there wasn't much sweat. So maybe it was actual…

Yeah, technically, you can get a good workout in anything. But I agree with her point that it didn't look like she came there to sweat. Though if the workout footage was as phony as the weigh-ins, which it seems like, I see why she did it, too. Maybe it was an F.U. to the show for making her wear that hideous green bra-top…

What do you mean "not possible"? I figured Kurt wasn't counting to make his decisions throughout the day but he could've been keeping a food log for Abel to keep an eye on. Abel could've counted calories after and told him "dude, eat more, you're only at 800-1100 a day". I can see it being possible if you're trying to win…

This was supposedly LaTasha at the end of a half marathon. I think they just did recreations instead of actual workout footage. Why, I don't know. It's not like those ugly-*kitten* "sports bras" they forced the women to wear throughout were attractive.

Yes and they were also not overweight to begin with. MFP's recommendations assume you have enough body fat to lose to sustain health over your diet, and will stop dieting when you don't.

Who cares that you hate the paleo diet? This is a forum for opinions. I'm not saying she's doomed to failure for overdressing for tv workouts. I'm saying she looked ridiculous, to me. I haven't seen the finale but the "workouts" of hers I have seen, she wasn't exactly serious. Even her trainer was slack jawed over her…

That one is super cute. I do like that mine is tiny and I can toss it in any drawer, though.

I paid over $5 for last night's head and still I think it was probably half the cost of chicken wings, by volume. Restaurant wings here are like $1/each. We had probably 15-20 cauliflower pieces of wing size, I'm guessing. (Plus, healthier ingredients do often cost more, sadly. Though not always. You can feed an army on…

Did you see the show? I googled the track team for comparison. That looks like normal makeup levels to me. LaTasha was in full clown mode complete with pearl choker and dangly pearl earrings, and loose pipe curls, and she was getting distracted by it. Not the makeup but the hair and I bet the jewelry. I would wear makeup…

Ro-tels are pretty spicy. You might want to taste a spoonful before adding two cans. I like spicy and with 2 lbs. of turkey it's probably fine for most but just a heads up.

She (Dawn Jackson Blatner) also wrote The Flexitarian Diet, not too long ago. That's probably similar. But the ABC site has a good description of her current diet plan. http://abc.go.com/shows/my-diet-is-better-than-yours/news/updates/abc-my-diet-is-better-than-yours-dawn-jackson-blather-superfood-swap-diet It's pretty…

I'm too cheap. Plus I gave up juice about 10 years ago when I did WW and lost 50 lbs. on a plan where juice was too pricey in points terms to bother with. If you ever want to do a short all-produce diet for fun and health, take that money you save on fancy juices and buy a good blender like a Vitamix and make smoothies,…

I think some people bump a thread just so it appears as a thread they took part in, so they can find it later.

That sounded high so I did the same. I got 415 too but a lot of the ingredients were wrong like it has ground chuck and like 12t. of taco seasoning. When I fixed the errors it was down to 285 calories per serving, assuming 10 servings. I make a similar soup from an old WW recipe but usually omit the meat, or toss in some…

I have that one, too, and like it fine. Though occasionally I see a pretty glass one at Costco for under $20 I wish I had. One advantage to a slightly larger scale is if you put say a dinner plate or larger bowl on it, on some of the littler scales you can't see the display under it.

It's not chicken but we've been trying several cauliflower buffalo recipes and they're pretty good. We had this last night. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/buffalo-cauliflower-with-blue-cheese-sauce.html

I don't think there is a "best" diet, much less an "only good one", even from among those few offerings. Though reading about what that Superfood Swap is on her ABC blog, it's the one I'm most interested in.

Someone posted this one years ago. It always stuck in my mind as one of those interesting ones. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2897733/

A good rebounder is fun, low impact and knee-friendly.

You'd think with all the millions of users MFP has suggested 1200 to, just one would've by now launched a successful lawsuit for being given a diet plan that is dangerous. If it was, I mean.

I haven't done Nutrisystem but it's expensive and you eat their food. I'm not sure how you transition off, I'm sure there's a plan, but I figure if I'm going to eat frozen dinners I can do that without the high price tag easy enough. WW or any plan has a long-term maintenance plan but those are a whole other skill to…
