Maybe they're practicing this theory: If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.

milk (skim or almond)...they all taste much better (like a proper shake) that way sometimes, for kicks, I'll add a bit of chocolate whey protein powder into my morning coffee

Here are some common fitness advice I've seen thrown around that need to be debunked: Common: Only eat whole foods Instead: Only eat things that have been broken into pieces; that way, all the calories fall out. Common: The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your metabolism slows down. Nope.…

Damn it! The one sport I kinda suck at  I was hoping you'd say table tennis :blushing: . . . . . . . . Off to elem school hardcourt to practice my dribbling, shooting and dunking skillz

OK ladies, which male athlete in that link did you find the most "amazing"?

This reminds me of a LONG weight loss plan story: Did you hear about the guy who had tried every diet in the world in an attempt to lose weight? He tried the Scarsdale diet, the Navy diet, Weight Watchers, etc. and none worked. He was reading the paper one day when he noticed a small ad that read, "Lose weight $1.00 a…

Does sex count?!?! In all seriousness, with a kettlebell, I like Turkish get ups because it employs so many muscles.

What the heck is "Adventure Racing"?!?! But I do like the effects

I don't know about you guys, but the worst piece of advice I ever got on these boards was to "shave the hedges" based on this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/305380-ladies-your-preference-for-your-man Damn razor cuts hurt like hell, and the wife felt the change was more hysterical than enjoyable

Just list it as another cardio exercise: If you're on top - Calisthenics (pushups, sit-ups), vigorous effort If you're on bottom - Mild stretching or just don't bother If you're in different positions - Yoga or pilates For calories burned, I just take the number of yes screams from my wife and multiply it by 5.

"Nunchaku skills... bowhunting skills... computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills!" Other favorite (LONG): I don’t know what to say, really. Three minutes till the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Now either we heal as a team or we’re gonna crumble, inch…

Me too. I want to be the male version of Samantha Brown. I'm already sort of a cornball like her.

Agree with ninerbuff. Here's a recent T-Nation article that states the same things (ignore the supplement recs): http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/2_weeks_to_shredded

When I was initially overweight and starting off this weight-loss journey, that was a good basic theory (80% diet/20% ex). Because I found it a lot easier to consume 3,500 calories less than it was to burn 3,500 calories exercising. Now that I've (hopefully) matured through this journey, through it's ups and downs, I've…

Dude, I'm not on this silly thread to argue over semantics with you. This isn't directly about aerobic (with oxygen) vs. anaerobic (w/o oxygen) workouts. Please start back on this thread from OP's initial statements before taking it off-tangent: OP: "Running and cycling build leg muscles, rowing builds them all over, as…

So you basically asked a ____ question that you already knew the answer to. So what's your point? The last statement is contentious. As pointed out earlier, depending on the intensity and duration, every activity can have a positive effect on muscles (if fast, powerful) and/or negative effect on muscles (if longer, less…

Uh, no one is suggesting that they don't weight train. The photos I used were to illustrate that world-class athletes in certain sports/cardio activities that require bursts of explosiveness (use of fast twitch muscles) tend to have/retain more muscle mass than those world-class athletes in endurance disciplines (marathon,…

Primarily yes. Just be cautious of water temperature. Taken from another site: "One study found that people who swim in cold water may consume more calories post-workout than people who swim in warmer water. So if you're swimming primarily to lose weight, make sure that you aren't inadvertently consuming unneeded calories…

Cinema Paradiso Children of Heaven The Bicycle Thief Red Balloon Shawshank Redemption is right up there as well

Not on a horse here, but "every activity" may or may not have a positive effect on our muscles. Endurance activities (long duration) may actually have a catabolizing effect on muscles, meaning it diminishes them. For some that may be positive effect that they're after. For others, it may be negative.

This just seems like a silly discussion. I'm with the camp that low-intensity "cardio" activity like long-distance running, bicycling, etc. won't build muscles. If it did, world champion winners like the following would have huge muscles...but they don't, especially not the men. Proof: Tomescu Constantina - 2008 Olympics…

I gotta believe the % is much higher for medicating kids before a flight. Oftentimes, it's in an effort to be more considerate/conscientious of other passengers.

I'm the same way with my wife. I didn't find any of the so-called "secret" mom confessions all that "secret" or surprising.

Curious to see responses. I've suffered from the same problem for the past 20 years since an auto accident.

Haha!!! Now I'll be busy lookin for Saran Sara instead of focusing on my workouts.

Looks like my gym. LA Finess? Not that I've ever stepped foot into the women's locker room!
