  • I get Bob's Red Mill Organic Quinoa at Costco when they have it in stock. With Bob's, they're pre-rinsed so that I don't have to go through the hassle. Put it in a rice cooker with low-sodium chicken stock, and it comes out fluffy and soft with a little bit of flavor; and use it in any dish in lieu of rice. Mmmm mmmm.
  • Depends. And there is some truth to that. Take for instance professional bodybuilders, the individuals most concerned with muscle loss. You'll rarely see them performing intense cardio for more than 40-60 mins being afraid of catabolizing their muscles (unless they're in their cutting stage, but even then). There are…
  • Looks like u missed the HAH!!! part
  • Hey!!! I resemble that comment too. J/K. cept that banana part...yellow on the outside, white in the inside. it's a good thing I don't resemble that emoticon:tongue:
  • Awesome!!! You should post this in the "Success Stories" forum too, if you haven't already. Congrats 2 u.
  • If u really want to get back at your husband, eat the Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal 2-3 hrs before bedtime:bigsmile: http://www.pleasegodno.com/archives/20-1-cup-Kashi-GoLEAN-Crunch-+-12-cup-milk-Endless-stomach-churning-gas..html
  • HEY!!! I resemble that comment.:blushing: Can u send me an exploding banana?!?!:flowerforyou:
  • I can't take you seriously when.. you DON'T have a pic of yourself (bodyshot preferably) in your profile!!! How do I know what you're touting is for real when I can't see if you practice what you preach?!?! HAH!!!
  • This may not be the answer you're looking for since I generally don't make shopping lists. But when I go to the supermarket, I just push my cart along the outer aisle/sides of the store looking for what's look really fresh or on sale: vegetables, nuts, fruits, dairy, meats, seafood. But skip the deli and baked…
  • Can u hear the sound of my hands clapping?
  • Tell me about it. My stomach was already in knots when I first encountered that website. I had the best ab workout ever after reading through most of the comments. Not that it's any excuse, but I knew there was a good reason why I avoided morning group fitness sessions ;-) Tons of Kashi GoLean lovers there. And it could…
  • I see a lot of Kashi lovers here (was one too). Hope you all don't suffer from a common side effect. http://www.pleasegodno.com/archives/20-1-cup-Kashi-GoLEAN-Crunch-+-12-cup-milk-Endless-stomach-churning-gas..html For a long day of laughs and release, the comments are a great read ;-)
  • My fave when I'm on the treadmill: My Humps - Black Eyed Peas I try to re-enact Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell) on a treadmill in "Blades of Glory" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eyGDtQyYyw&feature=related Love all the recent suggestions here...hip hop, heavy metal, u name it...luv it all. But I crave some 80's-pop…
  • if the carpet matches the drapes, all the better ;-)
  • I take in a casein protein shake (with milk) @ night on the days that I worked out. That way I have a slow-digesting protein that feeds my muscles while they're recuperating during my sleep. Also fills me up pretty good so that I don't ever think about reaching for a late-night snack.
  • Nice suggestions above. Other choices to consider: Moo goo gai pan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moo_goo_gai_pan A steamed or grilled fish entree that's light on sauce Lettuce wraps (easy on the sauce - loads of sodium)
  • why bring up the extreme?!?! I don't think anyone here is encouraging any women to bulk up beyond reason. besides, what's more disgusting in the extreme case? the rare woman with lots of muscles or the much more common obese woman with loads of fat?!?! in any case, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it's a good thing…
  • This is such a stupid argument. I think everyone is smart enough to know that people are implying that a certain volume of muscle weighs more than the exact same volume of fat. Density. The people peeved with the wording can be described as dense as well...that or uptight:bigsmile: Thanks for the pic though...a very good…
  • Here's another... MYTH: Big Caloric Deficits and Lots of Cardio Activity will lead to Rapid Fat Loss TRUTH: For some...yes, but for most, Big Caloric Deficits and Lots of Activity Can Hurt Fat Loss http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/why-big-caloric-deficits-and-lots-of-activity-can-hurt-fat-loss.html
  • It's quite remarkable the number of women that believe that. It's hard enough for guys to add muscle mass unless they're on roids or its their first few weeks. Women don't have the testosterone levels either to acquire much muscle mass unless drugs are used. How many women do you know have "bulk" or serious muscles? Maybe…
  • Lanfear, Here is a really good article on cortisol and excessive cardio: "Why Big Caloric Deficits and Lots of Activity Can Hurt Fat loss" http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/why-big-caloric-deficits-and-lots-of-activity-can-hurt-fat-loss.html
  • OP, I know you deleted it in your first post, but If it was an article by CHARLES Poliquin, a highly-regarded strength coach, can you repost the link? I googled "Poliquin just say no to cardio" and came up with this article: http://imbodybuilding.com/articles/just-say-no-to-cardio/?p=1 I don't think there's anything…
  • Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey - lots of flavors but my current one is cookies & cream
  • I make my own protein bars, but do prefer the following store bought ones on occasion: Perfect Foods Bar - organic BUT perishable, so you can only find them in the refrigerated section of natural food stores. They're moist and taste great (especially if you like peanut or almond butter)…
  • Are you more self-conscious because it's a pool in your neighborhood? Where you might run into other people you know? Depending on where you are in So Cal, it may be worthwhile to drive to and join a YMCA, city community pool or water park where there are lifeguards on duty. Google, then phone someone there, to see if…
  • u r FIERCE girl!!! way to go! I'm sure everyone in the MFP community is proud of u.
  • I've heard the same from many trainers. There have been studies done that indicate you burn a slightly higher % of fat calories during steady-state, low-impact cardio exercises vs high-intensity, high-impact cardio exercises. But you would most certainly be expending more fat and total calories over the same duration…
  • I can't believe someone here on MFP would actually tout the HCG diet when there are so many HEALTHIER ways of trimming down, especially for the long term. Here's another article to chew on: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/hcg-diet-whats-the-truth.html
  • There are a lot of better, healthier ways of trimming down. Here's another article on HCG: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/hcg-diet-whats-the-truth.html:
