To lose weight you need to be in a deficit. What foods you eat is a personal preference. There really is no need to label your eating plan. Just eat foods that you like, foods that make you feel good and foods that help get you to your goal. Somehow I managed to lose 130lbs and have never had a name for my style of eating.

I don't think it should be required. I don't eat at restaurants often enough for it to impact me. Even if I go somewhere that does have the info available, I don't choose what I order based on it. I go out to eat to enjoy the time with family and friends and to enjoy a good meal that I didn't have to prepare.

There are many people who lurk on the treads and don't post... there have been people come out and say thank you to those who do challenge posts like the original. It is not a waste of time.

When I went to my doctor asking for help with losing weight she pulled out her perscription pad and I walked out the door and found a new doctor. I lost 130lbs without popping pills.

Yeah the op's diary told a completely different story from what I expected after reading her first post.

Now I want a soda... I used to drink numerous sodas a day. At some point I lost the taste for most sodas. I still have sprite or dr. Pepper every once in a while. Moderation!

+2 The thing is you shouldn't care what people think or say, just go in and focus on the reason you are there.

This^^^ I am not a member of either group...

I don't do extremes. I eat an overall balanced diet with a variety of different foods.

I only logged for a few months, just to learn what I needed to about portion size. I struggle with OCD and calorie counting is a big trigger, so it isn't for me. It is harder at first trying to lose without counting but it can be done. You have to learn your actual hunger cues. You also still have to be aware of what you…

Everybody bashes everybody... I personally eat a wide variety of foods, I meet my macro/micro goals (or as close as possible) and I eat enough calories to maintain my weight. I don't care what other people eat.

Well said!

My goals are weight lifting and lowering my body fat %. Right now I am at 24.9% (caliper test done by my pt) and I would like to be around 19 to 20%. I am also training for a charity bike ride. I want to complete the 50mile leg. I lift at least 3X a week (just joined a gym). I ride 10 to 15 miles on my bike a few days…

Seriously? Dogs bark, it's what they do... get over it...

I agree that willpower is not gender specific. Honestly, you won't get anywhere blaming hormones or whatever else women need to blame for their lack of self control. I too stuggled with compulsive eating (not addiction) and my symptoms were similar to the op's. I also have ocd and hormonal issues but I still learned…

You are confusing bmr with tdee. For maintenance you would eat at your tdee.

I didn't have any fears, but I also HAD to lose weight. I was bed ridden and extremely ill when I started losing weight so nothing else matered except for getting the excess weight off. I went from bed ridden for 6 months to now training for my first cycling event (45 mile charity event).

MFP is one of the worst places to ask for relationship advice. People will answer emotionally, especially if they have had a bad experience with a SO. I would say grow up and communicate with the person causing you strife. I won't comment on his behavior because this is one sided and I think if we were to have his side…

Do you need cardio to lose weight? No. With little to lose focusing on diet becomes more important. Exercise is up to you and your goals. I do more cardio than strength training because I love cycling (road and mnt biking) and when I am training hard there is a lot of focus on cardio. I also lift at least 2x a week (my…

The "at least 1200" suggestion in for females and does not apply to the op... For males the minimum is 1800 calories.

I have suffered from depression, anxiety (severe social anxiety) and OCD since I was a child. I was also an emotional/stress eater. The best thing I ever did was go through cognitive behavioral therapy. Breathing techniques, meditaion, regular exercise and learning to filter my feelings to allow for a better outcome in…

Isn't she the one that said women have to have a thigh gap to be healthy?

Why is it so weird that people seek out other people with similar beliefs or interests. It is no different than people posting looking for people of similar age, or dieting styles, or workout preference...

I am Christian! Feel free to add me.

Mine are 14.5 inches. I like my calves!

4/8- 7miles 4/9- 15miles 41miles so far!

I eat most of mine back. My net is 2200, if I didn't eat back my exercise calories, I would not be able to maintain my training or active lifestyle. My goal isn't to lose weight so a deficit of any kind would work against my goals.

I will join for biking! I have logged 19 miles as of 4/6!

If it is a psychological addiction, what will taking supplements accomplish? I would think therapy would be a better plan. I benefited greatly from cognitive behavioral therapy when I was having problems with OCD and over eating.

I still eat all the same foods I used to. Now I just practice moderation and I am so much more active.
